Revenge After rebirth (Mayra and Anderson)

Chapter 36

There were atmospheric lights inside. Outside the floor-to-ceiling window, a large screen was broadcasting videos. Everything was romantic and fairytale-like, just like most girls desired. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

Mayra was like a princess who had everything. The dining table was set with candles, foreign desserts, steaks, and a pink, castle-shaped cake covered in pearls that was as tall as she was.

As, in her previous life, Anderson had also made a lot of extravagant arrangements for her birthday every year, she assumed she'd be calm. But now, her heart couldn't help but throb.

He walked to the table and took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket. He sat in his seat with his legs crossed and took a puff. He had a cold and unpleasant aura about him.

"Did you prepare all this for me?"

Anderson asked, "Do you like it?"

When Mayra peered into his eyes, her head started throbbing. The more he looked indifferent, the more afraid she became, especially when there was no one else around.

"I-I like it. I like everything you prepared." She cautiously moved forward and sat down. She didn't feel hungry even though she looked at the steak in front of her.

"Do you not want to eat it? Or is it not as delicious as Gordon's meal?"

Mayra's heart skipped a beat. "No, I want to eat it. I happen to be a little hungry."

She pretended to be inexperienced and stabbed the steak with her fork. She took a mouthful and found that the steak had become cold and hard. It was also bland and flavorless.

When Anderson raised her richly in her previous life, she went to many foreign restaurants and ate a lot of steaks. As time went on, she became increasingly choosy.

She detected a strange odor from the steak. Despite her wanting to spit it out, she chewed it and forced herself to swallow it.

He dusted off the cigarette ashes and stared at her. "Is it tasty?"

Mayra dared not say it was awful. "Yes, it is."

"I feel sorry and have been waiting for you. I wanted to celebrate your birthday with you. But you let me down." Anderson's voice had a tinge of anger.

Her hands trembled in fear as his familiar compulsion engulfed her. She dropped her fork to the ground, making a clear and sharp sound.

Mayra quickly stood up from her seat. If she hadn't been so tense, she might have knelt in front of Anderson.

He could be nice to her, but she was well aware of his domineering side. Nobody could touch her as long as she belonged to him. Moreover, she realized he treated her like a pet, keeping her in a cage.

In her previous life, Anderson and Gordon were rivals. He was always enraged when he saw her with Gordon.

Mayra was at a loss and messed up her breathing. Right then, a slew of pyrotechnics lit up outside the window and exploded in the night sky, illuminating the air.

The fireworks continued for about five minutes, but she didn't dare to look up at them. Anderson's crushing aura made it impossible for her to breathe normally. She trembled, terrified of him.

He stubbed out his cigarette and placed his hands on his knees. Then, he looked at her warmly. "Don't you like everything I've prepared for you? Why don't you finish it?"
