Rowan knew all too well about Jenny’s crush on Joe. He
wasn’t confident that he’d beat Joe if they were placed head to
head.
However, he knew that Joe harbored no feelings for Jenny at
all.
That being said, the way Joe and Skylar treated Jenny today seemed a little off. Yet, Rowan couldn’t put his finger on why
this was so.
“Your family won’t allow you to be with her,” stated Joe after a drag of his cigarette.
Rowan’s eyes darkened. He insisted, “I’ve got to try.”
“Jenny isn’t as simple and innocent as you think she is,” hinted Joe. Rowan froze. He could tell that Joe was giving him a
heads–up. Joe had never commented about Jenny in this way in the past.
Rowan’s frowned and replied, “Got it. I’ll consider our relationship seriously.”
Ten minutes later, Rowan and Jenny left because she wasn’t feeling well. Rowan would bring her to the hospital.
Joe had said he wanted to leave too. However, Skylar stopped mir from doing so.
“Let’s play a few games,” said Skylar. Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Her hands itched to pick up a racket as she watched them play from the sidelines. She hadn’t had the time to exercise
recently. Today would be a great opportunity to get some moves in.
To be honest, one of the reasons she’d fallen for Joe was due
to his stellar stamina.
Joe raised an eyebrow and challenged, “Should we play? Aren’t you scared I’ll bully you?”
“Let’s try it out and see who’ll be doing the bullying.” Skylar wasn’t about to give in to him.
In the beginning, Skylar hadn’t gotten into the game. She could tell that Joe wasn’t giving it his all.
However, she got into the right frame of mind soon. Joe quickly realized that he’d underestimated Skylar. As they continued to play, Joe became more careful.
The people sitting by resting watched them play. They catcalled, “Awesome, gorgeous!”
Joe shot them a glare. Their catcalls made him feel hugely uncomfortable.
Skylar was hardly distracted. Joe had used up a lot of his energy playing with Rowan. However, he was still doing extremely well. It was as though he hadn’t played the first game at all.
They only wrapped up after half an hour.
Skylar wiped her sweat off with a towel. She looked up at Joe and joked, “You’re not going to underestimate me after this, aren’t you?”
“You played better than Rowan did. Did you play frequently in the past? Joe wiped at his sweat too.
Skylar nodded. “I used to play badminton frequently with my brothers in the countryside.”
Jenný leaned into the car seats. Her eyes were still teary.
She didn’t look like she was feeling ill. Rather, it was like someone had wronged her.
Rowan suddenly recalled Joe’s weird attitude. He couldn’t help but ask, “Jenny, are you keeping something from me?”
