Chapter 174
"You can go now," Maximilian said while waving his hand.
He let out a sigh after Martin left and closed the door. Following that, he picked up the phone on his desk and made a call.
The person on the other end of the line answered almost immediately.
"Old Mr. Gulliford, what's the matter?"
"You did well. Don't worry about your family's company matters. I will settle it for you. Just remember to keep an eye on that woman," Maximilian said in a low voice, worrying that someone passing by outside might overhear him. "Don't worry. This isn't just your family's problem, it's mine too. I will keep an eye on my woman.
As for Trevor, you should keep a close eye on him too."
The voice on the other end of the phone was very soft, seemingly trying to make sure others could not hear as well.
"It's a pleasure working with you."
With a delighted expression, Maximilian ended the call.
After taking two steps toward the bookshelf, he took out a file.
The file contained information about Trevor's biological mother. As he stared at the picture of the woman who had passed away, the corners of Maximilian's mouth curved upward.
"Hmph! A woman with no background only deserves to end up with a useless man and work hard to make ends meet. Want to marry into the Gulliford family and ruin ourfamily reputation? In herdreams!"
As he said that, he ripped the photo of the woman into pieces and stuffed them back into the file. He then hid the file on his bookshelf with a widened grin.
Meanwhile, Bennett helped Trevor get upstairs. He used a traditional method of massaging acupoints to massage Trevor's wounded area.
"Daddy, who's Jessica? Is she really important to you?"
"Didn't Daddy say he regrets what he did to Mommy? Isn't he deeply in love with Mommy? Why is he so entranced by his secretary?" Bennett pondered in confusion. "Very important," Trevor replied while nodding.
No one mattered more to him than that woman.
"But she wants to be my wife. How can you like someone who wants to be your daughter-in-law?"Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
Even though Bennett also liked Jessica's personality, he did not understand why that woman wanted to be his wife. He was extremely puzzled by how she kept trying to please him.
Trevor suddenly realized that he had not explained this to Bennett.
"Daddy, don't tell me you actually think she's an ideal candidate to be your daughter-in-law? Are you serious about me marrying her?"
Bennett was having a slight mental breakdown at that thought, and so was Trevor.
"What the hell is bethinking?" Trevor thought.
"Bennett, she's your mother." "What?"
Bennett widened his eyes in shock. His eyes were filled with disbelief.
"How's that possible? Mommy doesn't look like that."
"Her face may have changed, but she's still your mother. After the accident three years ago, she did plastic surgery. She's always excited every time she sees you because she's your mother." NovelDrama.Org
Trevor could not hide it from Bennett anymore. Back then, he kept it a secret because he was worried Bennett would not be able to control
his emotions. However, his wife disappeared, so there was no reason to hide it now.
"She's Mommy? Why didn't she tell me?"
Bennett still found it hard to believe that Jessica, who always played with him, was actually his mother.
"We had so much alone time together on the island! Why didn't she tell me she's Mommy?" Bennett exclaimed.
"Because she hates me."
After saying that, Trevor's eyes unknowingly turned red. He knew that she hated him and wanted to leave him whenever possible. "She hates Daddy..." Bennett mumbled along with a blank look.
