Sir, Madam Dispeared Again After Divorce!

Chapter 923 Mrs. Chase’s Test

Chapter 923 Mrs. Chase’s Test

Even though Mrs. Chase looked at him fussily, he didn't feel offended or unhappy at all.

Before coming, he had especially invited a few married secretaries to his office and asked them what problems people might encounter when they met their future parents-in-law for the first time and what they should do to leave a good impression on the parents.

Those secretaries told him that parents-in-law would test a son-in-law or daughter-in-law to judge whether the person was suitable for their son or daughter.

The first common test was to examine the appearance of the person.

If the person's appearance was pleasant to the eye, it was half the battle.

So, Julien had prepared to be examined.

When Mrs. Chase looked at him up and down, he stood there detachedly and unhurriedly.

He had always been confident in his look. To be honest, no man was more good-looking than him, except Micah, who resembled a beautiful lady.

Sure enough, Mrs. Chase became deflated noticeably after examining his appearance, and she didn't point out that he was dressed inappropriately.

Thus, Julien had passed the first round of the test and could sit the second round.

Thinking about it, Julien gave a faint smile and saw Sydney secretly give him a thumbs up.

At the sight of it, his smile deepened. "Mrs. Chase, am I dressed properly?”

In effect, he was asking whether she was satisfied with him.

As he couldn't ask her straightforwardly, he put forward a roundabout question.

Mrs. Chase understood what he meant.

Hearing his question, she didn't answer it, but just took a glance at him. She held Sydney’s hand and queried kindly, "Syd, I haven't seen you for some time. Why do you look so thin? Is it because someone treats you badly? If so, tell me. I’ll teach that person a lesson!”

Then she cast a meaningful look at Julien.

Julien raised his eyebrows.

Well, the second round of the test began.

The secretaries had said that if parents-in-law were gratified with the appearance, they would ask their son or daughter indirectly whether his or her partner was considerate, even if they knew that the partner was good to their son or daughter.

The reason why parents-in-law caviled at their child's partner was to test the temperament of the person.

If their child's partner had a bad temper and was touchy, they tended to be affronted and leave at once. Parents-in-law usually wouldn’t allow their child to be with such an ill-mannered person.

But the partner, if good-tempered, wouldn't consider those words offensive, as they knew the parents-in-law wanted their child to be loved and cared for.

When feeling their child’s partner was good and reliable, parents knew that their child's partner would brace themself for the following challenges.

Julien was in such a state.

He gave Sydney his unreserved and genuine love.

Though irritable sometimes, he had always been tender to Sydney. The tenderest man in the world must be he!

Hearing Mrs. Chase’s question, Sydney knew she was asking her on purpose.

She looked at Julien, not worrying that he would be annoyed at all.

Staring at his calm expression, Sydney replied with a smile, "Auntie, I've been busy working recently so I got thin. Don't overthink it. Julien treats me thoughtfully. Look at my eyes. How bright they are! If he was bad to me, how could my eyes be so bright? They would be full of sorrow. Besides, I’m different from before. I won’t stay with him if he makes me sad.”

She hooked her arm through Mrs. Chase’s.

Mrs. Chase secretly looked at Julien while listening to her answer.

Mrs. Chase couldn't help curling her lip when seeing Julien smile due to Sydney’s words. "It’s good that he is nice to you. It's windy outside. Don't stand here. Let’s go into the house."

Mrs. Chase walked into the villa, holding Sydney’s hand.

As Sydney couldn't shake off Mrs. Chase's hand, she could only let Mrs. Chase lead her in. While walking, she turned her head and opened her mouth, as if wanting to say something.

Julien nodded slightly to her, motioning for her to follow Mrs. Chase. Then he pointed to the car trunk and himself, indicating that he would bring the gifts in.

Sure that he understood what she meant, Sydney felt relieved. After smiling at him, she followed Mrs. Chase into the villa.

Only Julien and Mr. Chase were left outside.

Mrs. Chase felt somewhat embarrassed as his wife had been being fussy with Julien.

"Er... Ju... Julien, my wife cares too much about Syd, so she treated you that way. Please don't mind it," Mr. Chase explained.

Julien waved his hand. "It doesn't matter. What Mrs. Chase did is right. I don't mind it."

"That's fine." Mr. Chase nodded, heaved a sigh of relief, and then made a gesture of invitation. "They’ve gone in. Let's move in, too. Dinner is ready."

"Okay." Though Julien agreed, he walked to the car trunk. "But please wait a moment. I’ll take out the gifts."

"What? You even bring gifts?" Mr. Chase frowned. "Didn't my wife ask you not to bring any gifts?"

While speaking, he followed Julien to the car trunk.

Mr. Chase was very surprised to see the piles of gifts in the trunk. "You’ve brought so many gifts?"

Julien took them out. "Though Auntie said so, we couldn't do that. It's impolite. What's more, today is the first time I've come to visit you. It's inappropriate if I don’t prepare anything. Leaf also agrees with me." Content © NôvelDrama.Org.

"But you needn’t have brought so many gifts." Mr. Chase added, "One gift would be appropriate enough. Just bring one and put others aside."

Mr. Chase was going to put other gifts back into the trunk but was declined.

"Mr. Chase, these gifts are a token of our regard. Leaf and I have brought them here. If I take them back, Leaf will get cross with me. She will probably think you don't like her anymore, so you ask us

to take the things back." Julien closed the trunk and said while staring at Mr. Chase.

He believed that Mr. Chase wouldn’t decline him when he mentioned Sydney.

Sure enough, after hearing this, Mr. Chase quickly shook his head and explained, "How could we not like her? My wife and I view her as our own daughter."

"That's great. Since you regard her as your daughter, accept your daughter’s gifts. If you reject them, Leaf might overthink it." Julien looked at Mr. Chase.

Mr. Chase hesitated, but finally he replied, "Well, we'll accept them. Thank you."

"Our pleasure." Julien picked up several bags and boxes.

Julien’s unhealed left arm hurt while he carried the heavy gifts.

Taking a glance at his left arm, he furrowed his brows.
