Chapter 62
Happy reading…
The nervousness assailed Hera making her palms sweat. The day was his first day meeting the clients who would help her rebuild her father’s company.
Even though she has received an education in the business sector, it does not necessarily make Hera calm. When she was in college she imagined Andrew, her father who would teach her how to manage the real estate business. But fate said otherwise, where Hera had to work alone. Learn on my own. It felt really hard. Really.
Look. Even though the clients would arrive in fifteen minutes, Hera’s anxiety did not subside.
“Should I take a sedative?” she muttered softly. “Not!” But at the third second she immediately shook her head.
Juan is still drinking her breast milk and Hera doesn’t want her son to eat what she eats. Especially drug. It can be fatal.
Inhale and then exhale slowly and repeatedly with a steady rhythm. Hera hoped that what she was doing now would ease her panic and anxiety a little.
“Come on, Hera! You can do it. This is for Juan, Mom and Dad,” she muttered to herself.
Miraculously it worked. Hera finally managed to fight her panic before the clients entered the room with Jonathan who greeted them, their father’s secretary who is now Hera’s secretary.
“Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. First of all, I would like to thank you for coming to our office….”
Hera started her presentation well. She couldn’t hide her pride in herself until the meeting was over. Her speech was not stuttering, her nervousness gradually disappeared when her prospective clients seemed interested in the business she promised.
Time is running as it should. And finally Hera was able to pass the meeting well and hoped that the results would also be good. One by one Hera’s clients left the room. Followed by Hera who was the last with Jonathan.
“You did your best, ma’am,” Jonathan said. Maybe he is older than Hera, he has more experience in the business world but he is still polite because Hera is his boss. Actually Hera felt awkward but she had to respect the man’s attitude.
“Thank you, sir,” said Hera, smiling sweetly. As much as possible Hera remained polite regardless of status. Because it could be Jonathan who will continue to help him rebuild the company.
“Sir, would you like to accompany me to lunch?” then asked Hera.
“Sure, ma’am.”
The two of them went to a place to eat not far from the office. Actually, in the office itself there is a canteen but for some reason Hera wants to eat out today. Luckily Jonathan didn’t mind. Unexpectedly, the clients who attended the meeting were also having lunch there.
Hera intended to greet them but the woman’s footsteps stopped when she heard their conversation.
“If it weren’t for Mr. Haidar, I wouldn’t want to work with this company anymore,” said one middle-aged woman in a cream-colored dress.
“That’s true. Mr. Andrew’s daughter is really shameless. It has been caught cheating with Mr. Haidar until she divorced her husband. Now she bravely manages a company that is almost destroyed,” said another woman in a red dress.
“I don’t know what the fate of our money will be,” complained one of the men with a slightly fat body.
“Of course I will sue Mr. Haidar if that woman disappoints us. Aren’t they cheating partners?”
“Yes, you are right. I can’t understand what that woman did. Mr. Haidar stupidly did anything to risk his own good name.” The man in the black suit shook his head and laughed mockingly.
Hera heard everything clearly. With a panicked face Jonathan patted Hera’s shoulder. “Madam Hera, let’s get out of here,” he said but Hera remained firmly standing staring at her clients.
“If I were Mr. Haidar, I would also do the same thing. Can’t you see how sexy that woman is? Hehehe.”
Hera’s hands clenched at her sides. Even her jaw had hardened there.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
“You are right. Mr. Haidar must be very satisfied with her service in bed,” continued another.
“Ah you crotch brain men! Always look at women from their bodies!” sneered at one of the women there but it only made their laughter grow bigger. That’s not a defense but a mockery.
It’s enough. Hera couldn’t take it anymore. She quickly turned around, she didn’t even care that her body hit Jonathan’s shoulder.
“Madam Hera’!” call Jonathan. But Hera ignored him. Jonathan could understand what Hera was feeling now. Even though it was her first day, Hera had already received unpleasant treatment.
Jonathan didn’t know what to do because basically he didn’t really know anything about Mr. Andrew’s family’s personal problems. But more or less he did hear that Hera divorced Jayden because Hera had an affair with Haidar. Whether it was true or not, Jonathan did not want to interfere. His only job was to help Hera with her work.
Hera quickened her pace as the elevator reached the tenth floor. She went to her father’s room which is now her room. While wiping her tears harshly, Hera looked out the window.
Does everyone in this world always behave like that? When in front of us, all compliments and sweet smiles are shown as if they really like us. But behind their backs, they insult, blaspheme and even judge without knowing the truth.
If so, Hera didn’t want to trust anyone anymore. Her trust was always betrayed. Hera lightly smacked her tight chest. Her breath hitched as if oxygen had just been taken from her.
If she didn’t remember now that she was the breadwinner of the family, maybe Hera would have given up right now. But, if she gave up, what would happen to her family?
“Not!” Hera nodded slowly. “Now is not the time to give up. I will prove that I can manage this company on my own. It’s not what they think.”
