Chapter 890 Harm Your Own Mother

Chapter 890 Harm Your Own Mother

Upon receiving the command, Zoey advanced toward Sofie.

Confronted with the ominous expression adorning her face, Sofie found herself overtaken by trepidation. She remained oblivious to the girl's recent experiences, yet the intensity within her gaze was truly disconcerting. Within those obsidian irises, it was as if she glimpsed an unending abyss, immeasurably deep.

In the past, when Sofie interacted with this young woman, she wasn't intimidated by the malice bubbling within the latter's heart. However, at present, even those individuals who had traversed the majority of their lives, those seasoned veterans who had borne witness to the full spectrum of existence, from birth to death—they too would harbor a profound sense of fear when confronted by Zoey.

“Z-Zozo, we're mother and daughter. How can there be any grudges between us? If you feel wronged in any way, we can sit down and have a proper conversation. There's no need to resort to such extreme measures,” Sofie pleaded.

Zoey let out a cold laugh. “Back when you were manipulating me, why didn't you see fit to reveal our connection as mother and daughter?” she questioned, her voice laced with a chilling mockery. When you coerced me into marrying that devil Kurt, why did you remain silent about our shared blood? And now, with your life hanging in the balance, you suddenly summon our familial bond. Do you genuinely believe that will sway me? Any woman can peddle sentimentality, cloaked in the guise of motherhood, yet you, Sofie Carr, you aren't entitled to such privilege.”

Sofie's form quivered, her gaze ablaze with defiance. She might face death, but not before ensnaring the entire Hoffman family in her downfall. She couldn't depart from this world in such a subdued

manner—it would deny her peace.

“Zozo, for the sake of our mother-daughter bond, please spare me. Can you find it in your heart to release me? At present, I clutch the lifeline of the Hoffman family within my grasp. With astute management, the entire clan could be ours. I acknowledge the trials you've undergone, the hardships you've borne. I vow, from this point onward, I won't let you get hurt anymore.”

Zoey abruptly halted, tilting her head to regard Sofie, as if ensnared by a fleeting hesitation. “Is that so? In the event that you gain control over the Hoffman family, how will you make me the most honored woman in the world?”

Sofie assumed Zoey had changed her mind and quickly began to promise the latter, “I vow that once I ascend as the most influential woman in Adrune, I will ensure you become the most respected socialite in the world.”

Zoey gave a faint smile. However, before she could utter a response, the telephone in the living room began to ring.

She gave a signal to the black-clad bodyguard, prompting him to cover Sofie's mouth.

Answering the phone, she adeptly altered her voice to mirror Sofie's, inquiring, “What's the matter?”

“Ms. Carr, all preparations at the nightclub have been made. You may send your daughter there at your convenience. I've also briefed my subordinates, who will attentively oversee your daughter. You can rest assured that she won't cause any complications for your grand—”

Before the individual on the other end could conclude their statement, Zoey promptly terminated the call.

Shifting her gaze, she directed a frigid stare toward Sofie. Then, an unexpected fit of hearty laughter erupted, much to Sofie's astonishment.

“All I aimed for last night was to steal a document from you, a bid to safeguard my life. Yet, ultimately, I failed to secure it. You actually orchestrated a scheme to manipulate events at the nightclub, sending me in to be wantonly abused by those men. I'm your daughter, and yet you've consigned me to be a plaything, exploited by countless men. Sofie, your heart harbors true ruthlessness. In comparison to you, I'm merely a novice,” Zoey declared with biting scorn.

Sofie's complexion drained of color. The instant the bodyguard released his grip, she hastily explained, “This is all Damien's idea. Zozo, you're my own flesh and blood. How could I possibly send you to such a place to be trampled upon by others, I—”

Before she could finish speaking, Zoey acted with startling swiftness, nicking her own finger and expeditiously letting the blood seep into Sofie's mouth.

“W-What are you—”

No sooner had Sofie finished speaking than she felt a burning pain in her throat.

The next moment, she began to convulse all over.

“W-What did you feed me?”

As Zoey methodically erased the traces of blood from her fingertips, she commenced a recitation of the occurrences over the preceding days.

Upon comprehending that she had transformed into a poisonous person, bearing deadly toxins in her blood, Sofie began to frantically scratch at her throat.

Zoey responded with a sinister grin, her tone deceptively casual. “It's futile, spare your efforts. My blood disintegrates as soon as it contacts air, rendering it a potent poison within seconds. Were it not for the antidote on my fingertip, you might already be lifeless. Sofie, oh Sofie, do you now understand why I despise you so much? Had you not ushered Kurt into our home, would I have borne the anguish and torment I did?”

“Y-You!” Learning of the antidote's existence eradicated Sofie's restraint. She jabbed a furious finger at Zoey, her voice strident with demand, “Hand over the antidote!” Zoey, you'll face retribution for causing harm to your own mother! Give me the antidote right now!”

Zoey spread her palms and laughed lightly. “Kurt invested considerable effort to transform me into a poisonous person. Do you really think he'd be kind enough to give me the antidote? As for retribution, spare your breath. Even if I were to be reduced to dust, I couldn't manufacture the antidote. Nonetheless, out of reverence for our maternal tie, I will administer medicine to sustain your life. The day you hand over that confidential document to me, I'll have Kurt give you the antidote. Otherwise, you will be endlessly tormented by the poison, enduring the sort of anguish that gnaws at your very bones, day and night.”

“Of course, you're free to opt for ending your own life. But, knowing your nature as I do, even if you were immersed in the depths of hell, relinquishing this wretched existence wouldn't cross your mind, would it?” she added.

Sofie's wails of torment reverberated, “You witch, you malevolent witch! Rot in hell!”

Zoey casually shrugged, her contemptuous grin chilling. “I've been dead for quite a stretch now. All I'm doing now is dragging all of you down into hell with me.”

“You!”

Before Sofie could retort, the black-clad bodyguard swiftly silenced her with a well-aimed strike.

As Sofie crumpled, the bodyguard glowered at Zoey.

“How could you spill the truth before Mr. White has even retrieved the confidential documents?”

Zoey's lip curled in derision. “Didn't you listen to the person on the other end? Sofie intends to thrust me into the nightclub fray. Do you think I can still use a courteous approach to outwit her and get that document from her?”

The black-clad bodyguard hesitated, fell silent momentarily, then ground out, “So, what's our next move? If the document isn't retrieved, and Mr. White turns the blame on us, who's going to shoulder the blame?”

“What are you afraid of? Sofie isn't dead yet. The thing she cherishes most is her own life. She'll inevitably surrender that document one day to survive. What we need to do now is to take down her lover, so they can no longer stir up any trouble.”

The black-clad bodyguard stood still for a moment, then strode toward the door.

“I'll take care of it,” he said.

Hearing this, Zoey let out a cold, mocking laugh. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

She knew he had gone to report the situation to Kurt, but it didn't matter to her as the man needed her.

Hence, how could he possibly end her?

That scoundrel turned me into a poisonous person because he wants to harm Cameron and get to Blaze. He hasn't achieved his goal yet, so he can't bear to kill me.

Over at the Saviors' branch, inside a room, Astrid remained ensconced within her boyfriend's arms, her grip around his neck unwavering.

Nestling into his embrace, she absorbed the scent of his robust masculinity. Having shared a significant amount of time with him, it was as though an inkling of affection was unfurling within her for this man.
