Sweet Revenge By Nuit Chapter 187

Chapter 187 Winning First Place

Mr. Will looked at him and asked, “What do you think?”

The guy didn’t know what to say.

He’d just asked a question but it was thrown back to him.

“Are you sure of that? Or is that your guess?” Mr. Will continued. His words confused the crowd

even more.

“I can see from your answers that many of you share this gentleman’s opinion, right?” he asked.

No one responded, but judging from the quarrel just now, that was true.

“What about the others?” After looking around, he said, “Let’s announce the results first.”

The examiner nodded respectfully and went forward to announce the results. A total of ten people

were selected. The name list was announced from oth place forward. To Silvia’s surprise, Abel got

second place. She subconsciously looked back at him

Abel happened to be looking at her as well. He nodded and cracked a confident smile.

Silvia almost rolled her eyes. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

Who won first place was yet to be revealed. The atmosphere grew tense. After all, that was the last chance for those whose names hadn’t been called.

Everyone wished to win the honor of the champion

Therefore, when the examiner read out the name “Silvia Austin”, it still caused quite a stir.

“She? That American? How’s that possible?”

Unconvinced whispers spread across the room.

“How can an American beat us? The test must have been rigged!”

“The Tasting Competition has been held for so many years without any scandals. I’ve never heard of such a thing!”

“Isn’t she Mr. Will’s daughter’s friend? No wonder!”

“Did Mr. Will divulge the questions to her in advance?”

“Maybe he gave her the answers directly!”

There were all kinds of voices against the result. No one believed that Silvia had won the first prize

because she’d done better than them.

“Wait a moment. I have doubts about the result!” Someone raised his hand and aired out his

objection.

Even if Mr. Will was present, even if this competition was very authoritative, their contempt for Silvia made it hard for them to accept the result.

“I don’t understand. How could she…” The guy pointed at Silvia. “Won first place. Is her answer better than ours? Is her performance better than ours? How’s that possible? I want an explanation or I’ll justifiably doubt the fairness of the competition!”

Silvia remained composed in the face of everyone’s doubt, still as indifferent as usual. It was as though the matters that these people were discussing had nothing to do with her.

The examiner glanced at Mr. Will and then said, “Quiet. What you want to know is, why is Miss

Austin able to win first place in this competition, right? Let’s go back to the test itself. Are you sure your answers to the last question are correct?”

“Could it be that both perfumes were designed by Mr. Will?” Someone exclaimed, suddenly realizing something.

Mr. Will didn’t confirm the guess of the previous guy, which meant that guy was wrong. If the guess that neither of these perfumes was his design was wrong, then the reverse must be right.

The examiner smiled and picked up the stack of test papers. “Here are your answers. Most of you analyzed the compositions in detail and gave your own opinion about whether they are or are not Mr. Will’s works.”

“However, Miss Austin didn’t draw a conclusion in her answer.”

All candidates looked at each other in bewilderment.

“Is that all? She won against us simply because she didn’t come to a conclusion in the end? We’re out despite the fact that some of us might have drawn the correct conclusion?”

“Why not let Miss Austin explain herself?” The examiner moved sideways and gestured for her to come up, saying, “By the way, Miss Austin’s analysis of the compositions is the most comprehensive among all the answers. You can come and read it later if you’re not convinced.”

Silvia felt a little irked.

She thought that it was just an exam, and she could leave after the results were out. What was happening was nothing but trouble for her.

Without being given any other choices, she stood up and came to a stop before the microphone. She took her time and turned to look at Mr. Will who was sitting next to her before saying anything else. “Before answering the question, I want to ask Mr. Will a question.”

Glancing at her, Mr. Will raised his hand and motioned for her to go ahead.

“I want to know the point of the last question.”

Everyone gasped when they heard this and were more convinced that Silvia had known Mr. Will before.

Giving her a long look, Mr. Will threw the question back as he’d done just now. “What do you think?”

Everyone held their breath.

“I think it’s a test to see whether we’d let irrelevant information affect our judgment.” she said frankly, “In fact, we don’t need to know who designed those perfumes in the last question to analyze their compositions. That doesn’t matter at all. But after we knew that from the labels on the bottles, our analysis became biased and we tended to add imagined meanings to them.”

“We know that. That’s why we questioned the authenticity of the information and made our own judgment,” the one who had questioned the fairness of the competition shouted, apparently still unconvinced.

“No, you don’t know.” Silvia contradicted him firmly, which made the man’s expression change.

Silvia looked around and continued, “As this gentleman just said, you think that you’ve deemed the given information wrong or at least doubted it. In a word, you think you are not affected by it. However,

on the contrary, you spent too much time trying to tell whether it’s right or wrong, which meant you were bothered already.”

Everyone fell silent.

No matter how unwilling they were, they had to admit that her words made sense.

Someone asked, “Miss Austin, what’s your answer? Haven’t you ever wondered who designed those two perfumes?”
