CHAPTER 49 ALASTAIR
Phoenix strode down the path leading to Alastair’s clan. It was finally time to meet him but Glinda didn’t let her go unprepared. She did a great job with the makeover that made her look more like Ashley than Phoenix. She also cast a spell on her that entirely changed her voice to Ashley’s and told her everything there is to know about Alastair.
Phoenix’s heart throbbed in fear and nervousness as she came to a halt right before the door. She is about to meet with a wizard pretending to be her mother and she couldn’t help but be nervous. Exhaling deeply to steady her racing heart, she stepped in.
Right there standing by the mirror, was Alastair who was backing her and all dressed up. Unlike before when everything in his clan was unkempt and old, everywhere was sparkling neat and decorated beautifully.
In the middle was a table fashioned with flowers, roses to be specific with a jar of wine and cups.
Alastair turned gracefully and the moment his eyes landed on the beautiful woman standing at the entrance, his pupil dilated and his heart flickered
His Ashley… his love and life were right in front of him looking as breathtaking and elegant as always. Is this some sort of a sweet dream?
” Alastair…” Phoenix exclaimed breaking the long stare between them. Her voice sounded like sweet music to Alastair’s ears and he couldn’t help the smile that drew up his lips.
Phoenix walked to him with a proud smile. Placing her hands on his shoulders, she placed a tender peck on both of his cheeks. Alastair closed his eyes as sweet shivers went down him.
Oh how much he has missed her. Her voice, touch, smile, everything.
” Ashley ” He groaned lowly and Phoenix titled away from him.
” Long time, no see ” She smirked and Alastair opened his eyes. His cold blue eyes made Phoenix’s heart skip in fear but… she made sure not to make it evident.
” I’ve been searching for you across the entire universe. Where have you been, Ashley? ” Alastair asked and Phoenix knew it was time to show her acting talent.
” It’s a long story, Alastair ” She began, turning her back on him. She made to walk away when Alastair gripped her wrist and tugged her to himself, his hand on her waist firmly. Phoenix’s body twitched in disgust and she almost hauled him away from her but comported herself instead.
” Tell me all about it. I’m ever ready to listen ” Alastair cooed and made to place a kiss on her neck but Phoenix released her grip on her waist, turning to face him.
” If you say so ” She muttered and took his hand, leading him to the table. Alastair without any objection followed her like a lost puppy. They both sat down and he poured a good amount of wine into the two cups, passing one to Phoenix.
” Have some grape juice, my dear Ashley ” He didn’t stop gazing at her dreamingly as she took the cup, flashing him a smile. It was a forced smile actually because the way he stared at her, disgusted Phoenix.
” So tell me, Ashley, what happened? ” Phoenix gently kept the cup back on the table and leaned forward.
Then she began, narrating the well-fabricated lie of where she had been and the suffering she went through in the hands of her mate. Not to forget how she escaped. With the way she painted her lie, crying, and acting drunk in the process, Alastair didn’t have any reason not to believe her.
In fact, by the time she was done, he was already boiling in rage against Ashley’s mate, his fist clenched around the cup. He was already intoxicated.
Reaching out to Phoenix’s hand, he squeezed it making her look up at him.
” I’m so sorry, he did all that to you, Ashley. He’s the one at loss and will regret ever leaving you ” He muttered with gritted teeth but behind those was an evil smirk. Deep down, he was more than overjoyed Ashley rejected her mate. At least now, he can finally make her his.
Phoenix slipped her hand away from his, glaring at him.
” Keep your sorry to yourself, Alastair. I don’t need your sympathy! ” She snapped and sprang up, making him scoff.
Oh, did he forget, how much Ashley hated being empathized with by people whenever something bad happens to her?
She is definitely his Ashley, no doubts about that.
” What do you want then? ” Alastair asked, standing and walking up to Phoenix whose eyes grew dark immediately.
” I want him dead, Alastair. I want to cause him so much pain and kill him for everything he made me go through! ” Alastair was a bit shocked and terrified of the anger and revenge he saw in Phoenix’s eyes but… at the same time… he loved it.
It has always been his desire to kill her mate from day one but only restrained himself because of Ashley. And now the same Ashley wants him dead. How can he say no?
” Tell me what you truly want, my love, ” He said, pulling her and caging her in his broad chest. Phoenix tightened her fist to quench the anger about to erupt inside of her.
Why won’t he just quit touching her?
” Remember that Golden Dagger you told me about? ” She asked, deciding not to do anything stupid that might ruin the plan.
Alastair was bewildered that she still remembered the Golden Dagger, something he told her about almost three decades ago.
” What do you need it for? ” He demanded with a stern look. With the way he glared at her, Phoenix could detect he was starting to suspect her and needed to act fast.
She reached out to his long hair and tugged it to his ear, brushing a finger down his face before caressing his lips with her thumb. Alastair closed his eyes, his body shuddering at the feeling of her finger on his lips. And to even turn him on the more, Phoenix ran her hands up and down his chest making him groan huskily. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Phoenix hated what she was doing and she felt like almost crying but she doesn’t have a choice. Glinda and Axion are counting on her and Axion’s life depend on whether she successfully gets the dagger or not.
” I want to stab him with it. The Golden Dagger contains so much power that it not only kills any Dark Genie but also every supernatural being. I want you to give me the power over that dagger ” She muttered.
” So, tell me Alastair, will help me exact my revenge? ” She whispered to him and he nodded without hesitation.
A satisfactory smirk crept up Phoenix’s lips. Everything was going just according to plan. Alastair who couldn’t hold back any longer used a finger to tilt her head up. He leaned forward about to kiss her but Phoenix pushed him off slightly.
” Alastair, what are you doing? ”
Alastair wrapped his hands around her stomach from the back and nudged her to himself.
” I swear, I will help you, Ashley. But first, let me help you relieve the pain of losing a mate ” He mumbled huskily, placing a kiss on her neck.
× × ×
Axion can be seen standing in the garden, his face squeezed up in an angry frown. He was groaning in frustration now and then, tapping his feet on the grass impatiently.
He was thinking about Phoenix and it was making him restless.
How is she coping? Has she met Alastair? Are the both of them still discussing or has she managed to convince him to release the dagger? Is she ok? Or is that jerk trying to touch her? What if he casts a spell on her and the both of them are making out now?
The last two questions made his stomach turn so much that he almost felt like puking. His nose twitched in both anger and disgust at the thought of another man having his Phoenix.
But then, he was snapped out of his thoughts when Corbin all of sudden appeared before him.
” Little brother ” Corbin laughed dryly making Axion roll his eyes.
” Can’t stop thinking about your Phoenix, can you? ”
” What are you doing here, Corbin? ” Axion hissed and Corbin’s eyes widened a bit in shock.
Wait, did Axion just call him by his name, for the first time in all his 27 years of existence?
His dark eyes grew soft a bit as he grimaced but then, they immediately hardened and he glared at him.
” I’m here to visit my little brother. Am I not allowed to do that? ” He snarled and Axion scoffed, folding his arms.
” What if I told you I actually came here for Phoenix? ” Corbin received a hard glare from Axion making him grin.
” I think I like her. No, actually, I’m lusting over her, Axion. Ever since I set my eyes on her that day, I just can’t get her out of my mind. I’ve been having wet dreams about her. All that’s in my mind is having a taste of her and I’ve fantasized about doing that with her a lot ” He moaned and that was pushing Axion to the core.
” I want her Axion, I itch for her every fucking time and I don’t think I can hold back anymore. I want to fuck her mercilessly and make her scream out my name…
Corbin wasn’t even through with what he was saying when Axion shut him up with a death blow that made him stagger back, groaning in pain.
” Stay the fuck away from my Phoenix, Corbin!! ” Axion roared in rage and the smirk on Corbin’s lips broadened. This was the reaction he wanted to see from him. Wiping out the blood which rolled down from his nose, he chuckled.
” Why? Can’t I have a taste of her too? Are you so stingy that you can’t even share? ” Axion grabbed him tight by the collar, pulling him close while breathing angrily at his face.
” Lay a finger on her, and I swear with my life that I’ll reap out that little monster of yours, roast it and feed it to you, you fucking bastard! ” He howled but Corbin only huffed, shoving his hands away from his collar.
” When I see something, I want it. And when I want it… I get it. Let’s see how much you can do to stop me from having Phoenix all to myself ” He grinned evilly before vanishing leaving Axion who was fuming and burning in anger.
BACK TO ALASTAIR’S CLAN
It was morning and Phoenix who was lying on a bed, slowly opened her eyes. She was surprised to see Alastair beside her, snoring peacefully, his hands wrapped around her.
Nothing happened between them last night. Even before Alastair could start touching her, he doze off, thanks to the potion Phoenix added to his drink earlier. She was only in the same bed with him to make him believe they both got intimate last night.
She released her hold on her and climbed off the bed, heading out of the room.
Alastair later woke up and after having a good bath, he headed to his lab to look for Phoenix. He was more than happy to see her staring at his magical potions, looking as beautiful as ever.
Who could believe his Ashley will come back to him one day?
He chuckled, walking up to her and hugging her from the back. Phoenix almost hissed and punch him right in the face but then remembered she had to continue her acting.
She pushed him off slightly and turned to face him, forcing a smile up to her lips.
” How was last night, my love? ” Alastair asked.
” It was… amazing with you, Alastair ” Phoenix almost felt like throwing up saying that.
” I told you, you’d enjoy it, didn’t I? ”
” Thank you so much, Alastair but… what about the dagger? ”
” I promised to help you and you know me, Ashley, I don’t go back on my words ” Alastair smiled and Phoenix nodded.
” Come with me ” He took her hand and lead her to a different room. Opening the door, he gestured for her to enter and Phoenix complied.
But then, looking around, Phoenix frowned seeing how dirty and empty the room was. It didn’t look like a place where something as sacred as the Golden Dagger will be.
A wave of uncomfortableness went down her and she quickly glared at Alastair who was standing by the door, smiling.
” Alastair, what room is this? And why did you bring me here? ” She demanded already sensing something was wrong. The smile on Alastair’s lips slowly turned into an evil smirk.
” Why don’t you figure it out yourself… Phoenix? ” He mumbled and Phoenix’s eyes widened in great horror…
