I am sitting in maths, not paying any attention to what Mr Stevens is droning on about.

My mind is running over what Oscar the rogue told us yesterday. My baby is in trouble and it scares me shitless..

Glancing at my watch I sigh, it’s barely 9:30, Ace and Aiden are in English with Star, and then both of my brothers and Olly have Maths with her, so she has plenty of protection, but I won’t see her till lunch. I am already going crazy.

My phone buzzes in my pocket.

It’s a message from Stan, one of the warriors that left with Liam and Cam. I open the message.

Stan: Alphas we are under attack

Then coordinates flash on my screen.

I jump to my feet, already mind linking everyone.

“guys, Liam is under attack. I want twenty warriors to meet me in the forest by school in ten minutes. Olly, Simon, Aiden and Jasper, Stay with Ace, Ashton and Star. Guys, get Star home. This could be a diversion. I will try to keep you updated.”

Then I link Star, “baby please go with the guys. I need to know you are home and safe. I will get your dad. Star, I love you more than life, baby.”

“I love you too Lexi, please be careful and come home safe, ok?”

She doesn’t question me, just knows that she must follow my orders, knowing that her safety is our top priority.

Running from the building, I shift as I hit the tree line.

I hear my warriors barrelling through undergrowth and howl to them, before taking off in the direction of the coordinates. It takes us 15 minutes to get to there.

I hear the sounds of battle in the distance and we take off again.

The sight that greats us makes my b***d run cold.

There must be at least 50 rogues, at least two of our warriors are down, but I can see both Liam and Cam’s wolves fighting in the middle of this s**t storm.

I howl as we join the fray, ripping through rouges without thinking of anything but getting to Star’s father.

I give Storm his head and let him do what he was born to do, kill the enemy.

When the red mist of anger finally clears in my head, all the rogues are dead, and I asses the damage to our men.

Six of our warriors are dead, including the two I spotted when we arrived, but there are a lot more wounded.

Liam is kneeling by the body of a man I recognise from the bar the night we first met. He looks up as I pad towards him, “thank you for getting here so quickly Alpha, your actions saved a lot of lives.”

Stan drops some clothes at my feet so I s**t and pull on a pair of shorts. “What the f**k happened?”

Cam had pulled on some shorts, “two Range Rover’s came out of nowhere and ran us off the road, our car is on its roof about a mile that way, your guys managed to knock them of the road before they got our second car, we only just got out of the car before we were surrounded.”

“anyone got a phone? I need to call my brothers.” Stan hands me a phone and I nod my thanks.

I dial Ace, no answer. s**t, I try Ash. It rings and rings until finally I hear the voice of my own personal angel. Thank f**k.”

“Baby, are you ok? Are you home and safe?”

“Lex? Thank the goddess you are ok, we got ambushed on the way home. I don’t know where Ace and the boys are. He ordered Ash to leave and get me home. We are just heading through the border now.”

I hear Ash tell her to put the phone on hands free, “rogues set up a f*****g road block half way home, Ace and Olly armed them out of the way so we could get through, I have sent warriors to assist, are you ok man?”

“We lost six warriors and one of Liam’s friends, they were rammed off the road, bastards used it as a distraction, thank god you guys all stayed with Star, we have wounded can you send us medics and a cleanup team please.”

“Dad already sent vehicles to your location. They should be there soon. We are just pulling up at the pack house. I will call when I hear from Ace.”

He hangs up, thank the goddess Star is ok, but I am worried about my older brother and my friends.

Shouts from the direction of the road draw my attention, “ALPHA, MEDICS ARE HERE!” Then I see our medical teams running towards us. “thanks for getting here so quickly. We have several wounded and seven dead.”

“Yes Alpha”

They scurry off to treat our men, Cam puts his hand on my shoulder, “lets get back to Star, form a plan and try to get on top of this, we lost an old friend today, and with Star being targeted, Liam is going to want answers.”

We climb into one of the cars brought by the cleanup team. I leave all our warriors on site, just in case Liam, Cam and their two surviving friends and I head back to my pack.

Handing Cam the phone, I ask, “can you keep trying this number? It’s Ace’s. They were attacked on the way home from school and he wasn’t answering. Ash and Star are home safe.”

Liam had tensed at the mention of the attack, but sighed his relief when I say Star was home. “It just keeps ringing, man. We should detour to the road they would have been on.”

Nodding, I put my foot to the floor and pray we are not too late.
