The Alpha’s Little Luna

A terrifying wave settles in the canteen. After my words, it immediately fell silent.

Surprised I look around and when my eyes fall on Clarita, I notice her eyes big and mouth wide open. Frowning, I turn to Alpha Glary now, he wears a grin on his face. But it doesn’t reach his cold eyes.

My appetite is down to zero, so I get up. “Excuse me, I’m leaving. I still have a few things to do”, I said to Clarita. I take my tray and empty it into the garbage. With a wave to my girlfriend who is still staring at me, I walk out of the canteen.

In the hallway, I recheck my schedule and see that I have an hour free before returning to Science class. I decide to visit the library and work ahead of the lessons.

As I sit there, I feel my phone vibrates in my pocket, a notification comes in. It is Zane.

I read his message with a smile. ‘Are you okay, love?’

His question surprised me. Did he suspect something?

‘Yes, babe. Missing you already. Have you left for the pack yet?’ I asked.

Zane stayed all week after my birthday. And I don’t have to tell you what we’ve been doing all day. He made me experience what it feels like to be a woman, his woman. We just couldn’t get enough of each other. All my friends’ stories came to nothing after the sex we had. My mother noticed it the day after the party. She took me aside and furiously demanded to know if Zane had taken my virginity, dictated that I should have waited until I was eighteen and my wolf confirmed he was my true mate. Before he could continue embarrassing them with his lengthy abstract explanation, my father raised both hands.

“Enough, enough, we got it, Alpha. No need to go into details,” he exclaimed, blushing like hell. And then I couldn’t contain my laughter, and neither could Zane. We screeched unabashedly with laughter and clung to each other for support. My parents stared at us with growing discomfort at the situation.

“Indeed, she is close to adulthood. We had ignored that for a long time. Our baby is now a woman”, my mother sighed afterward. I then turned around, ran up the stairs and moved all my stuff from my room to Zane’s. No one could stop me, Zane and I now share the bed.

A new message takes me out of my musings.

‘I was about to leave but felt your mind sinking drastically. Did something happen at school, love? You know you can tell me anything.’

‘The Alpha son wants to be associated with me now that I’m next in line for the Beta position. I don’t want to annoy him, so I’m going to dinner with his family tomorrow night in the packhouse. When I’m there, I will explain to his parents that I am your Luna and Glary must find another candidate,’ I text back. ‘His proximity was disturbing and I let him know. Perhaps you sensed that.’

His response arrived a few seconds later. ‘Might be. You have an hour off, aren’t you? I’m here to say goodbye to you. You know I’m leaving tonight with my Gamma, right?’

A warm feeling comes over me, Zane is just what I need to forget about that annoying meeting with Gary.

‘I’ll be waiting in the parking lot,’ I let him know. I collect my books and immediately leave the library.

“Are you done, Mercedes?” the librarian asked me. “You still have almost an hour left.”

I smile politely. “My mate is leaving for a business trip, I’m going to greet him and come back”, I told him.

When I arrive at the parking lot, I see Zane’s SUV approaching. He hasn’t gotten out properly when I throw myself into his arms.

“Come back as soon as possible, babe. I’m going to miss you so much”, I whispered in his ear as I take his earlobe in my mouth to remind him of what we will miss. He smiled, his hand disappears into my hair.

“Don’t be afraid, I will not stay a minute longer, I will even swim across the ocean if my flight is delayed”, Zane promised. “Don’t forget that I am always available for you. You can always call or text me as soon as you need it,” he urged me.

After a hot kiss, he gets back in. I wave until he is out of sight. And when I turn to re-enter the school building, I see Glary standing there watching.

Goodness, does he really have nothing else to do but mind other’s business?….
