The Billionaire Contracted Wife

THIRTY TWO

I woke up with arms tied behind my back. They were sore and stiff as if it had been that way for a quiet long time. I opened my eyes groggily. I was sitting in a hard chair.

My shoulders feels like burning, as if it is on fire. I flinched at the sharp pain, focusing my eyes on the sorroundings.

“Awake you are now huh,” Anica said. I snapped to the direction where she was standing. She was lounging gracefully in a long couch, blinking lazily at me. She was like a Cleopatra watching a peasant.

“You shot me,” I said, slightly bewildered.

“Well, yeah, I had to subdue you,” she said as if it made sense. “I couldn’t just let you escape you know. I’m not that stupid.”

She walked towards me with a gun in her hand, toying it.

“Do you think Cayne would definitely come?” She asked. “I know for sure he wouldn’t. Because if he did, he’s here by now. But look, there’s no one.”

My hands-which were reaching something behind my back- finally met something sharp and was slowly trying not cut the rope that bind me.

“Is that what you think?” I asked trying to distract her as I continue to to slowly free myself from the rope. “How can you honestly think that Cayne would still want you after you kill me.”

Anica looked at me, I can see in her eyes that she is considering my question.

“Yeah, he’ll be mad at first,” she mused. “But I’ll make him understand. It wasn’t necessary to eliminate you, but you’re a hindrance to our happiness.”

I was halfway out, just a little more.

“But if you truly love him, you should be happy if he loves someone else.” She snorted daintily. “That’s an illusion. If you really love someone, you should want that person to just be with you and only you alone.”

When my hands were finally free, I wasted no time. I jumped, catching Anica by surprise.

I knocked her flat on her ass, causing her to lose a grip on the gun that she was holding. The anger in her eyes was a clear sign. I leaped far away from her.

I ran outside and was greeted by a man with large muscles. He looked at me in surprise, but before he could tense up to chase me, I ran faster as I could.

“You fucking idiot!” Anica cursed at him. “Go get her. Now!”

And then I heard a pursuit, not just one set of footsteps but several of them. I ran faster, moving my feet with all the energy that I had in me. I shouldn’t be caught again this time, or else I’ll end up like Shain.

A shot rang out and I ducked behind a tree and hid. I peeped and saw Anica and her men far behind.

Anica’s face were twisted in anger, her cheeks bright red.

“This way,” she said. Heading the in the opposite direction in which where I was hiding.

My breathing was heavy. I reached in my jeans and felt a very sharp amount of pain. I sighed and looked back to the direction where Anica headed. They were gone.

I stood shakily. Now all that the adrenaline was gone, I could feel the terrible pain all over my body. My limbs were sore, my head was pounding, and my shoulder is crying out of pain caused by the shot of a gun. And now my stomachs trembling because of hunger.

Oh god please. Let me live. I continued to run for my life.

After hours of stumbling, around in the woods I finally came across a house. I walked up the steps, stopping hesitantly at the door. And then I finally mustered up a courage to knock, it opened itself.

Horror filled my heart as I remember the scene on a television. It feels like this. But I have to be brave. I tried to focus myself to think of a something. Then I remembered that I needed a phone. I cupped my pants and luckily, my phone was there. But when I tried to open it. It won’t.

Dead battery. I frowned.

I hurriedly went all over the place to find a charger, and when I found one. I wasted no time. I waited for about a minutes until my phone swung open.

I hurriedly dialed Cayne’s number. On the first ring he didn’t answered. I got frustrated. What if Anica catch me before I could call him.

I tried to call him again for the second time but he still didn’t answer. I’m starting to lose my hope with the situation.

I let out a deep sigh and manage to calm myself. Later again, I dialed his number.

Please Cayne, please. Please answer the god-damned phone of yours. Seconds of ringing he finally answered. I sighed in relief.

“If this is something about the company I told you I’ll handle it next time,” he said. His voice was hoarse.

“Cayne, it’s me.” I whispered. Trying to catch my breath in relief. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.

“Raszhiel?” He said in disbelief, “Where are you? Are you okay?” He asked, panicking.

“Don’t worry I’m fine. I’m in an old house. I don’t know where exactly is the place but as what Anica said, it was in her father’s abandoned building.” I said, still trying to catch my breath.

“Are you still in the building?”

“No. I’m in an old house, deep into the woods.” I said as I sniffed. I was crying, very scared of what might happen next.

“Don’t worry, I’ll come over and save you. Don’t be scared okay?” He reassured me. “Don’t worry, love, I will be there very soon.”

Before I could muster to answer, I felt a creeping sensation, like I was being watched.

As I turned around, I came face to face with a grinning Anica.

“Raszhiel, you look terrible,” she said sweetly. “Must be that handsome husband of yours. He’s just a bad news for you. Why don’t you hang up on him?” She raised her gun and pointed it on me, her smile never wavering. “We can have a little girl talk.
