Chapter 176
Chapter 176
Ivy kept that thought to herself out of politeness. Marco immediately recognized Ivy's mood shift and smiled decently. "Pierce requested that I deliver it to you. He stated that you would enjoy it, but I have my doubts." Marco Seely tossed the bouquet of white chrysanthemums to the side of the table and extended his hand to shake with Liam Saver. 'How stupid of me to believe my son's assertion that Ivy prefers only white chrysanthemums?!' Marco considered. Ivy sighed in relief. 'Oh... It was Pierce.' Ivy missed the boy at the prospect of this, as she hadn't seen him in a while. Ivy regained her composure and greeted the others. Liam picked up the phone and hung up after only a few words. "How about we go to the conference room? Everyone is present," Liam stated. Ivy was slightly taken aback when they entered the conference room and saw the people inside. Wyatt Reed showed up in person?! Although Wyatt was in a wheelchair, he did not appear to be in any discomfort. He retained his awe- inspiring aura and was still capable of commanding the scene. Ivy made a few comments about his arrival. The meeting went quite well. Originally, this project was a collaboration between Morgan Corporation and Marco Seely. Even though ABC Corporation was involved, Liam Saver received no dividends from it. Nonetheless, the benefits of participating in this project were not to be overlooked. The brief meeting was completed in no time. Marco needed to discuss something with Ivy, so the two of them went to Ivy's office. Wyatt narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked at Ivy's departing back in the meeting room. Liam couldn't stop himself from laughintog. "Are you tense at the moment?" Wyatt squinted at Liam, "Where is the new assistant?" He believed Marco Seely would not pose a threat to him because he had a son and was still grieving the loss of his late wife. Marco returned to New York solely for business purposes.
Wyatt, on the other hand, was extremely uneasy with the new graduate assistant who appeared alongside Ivy. Wyatt had previously received a call from Liam informing him of the meeting. "You cannot give that recent graduate a chance!" Jimmy exclaimed as he left the house. “Even though he is no match for you, young hunks like that know how to sweet–talk women and are adept at seducing them, so you must go and intimidate him!" While he leaned on the table, Liam's hand was in his pocket. His eyes narrowed as he smiled. "Do you feel a sense of crisis, Mr. Reed?" Liam then motioned for Jack to enter by waving and beckoning. Jack assumed Ivy was looking for him, but upon entering the conference room, he saw only these two imposing figures with an awe-inspiring aura. The room was oppressively cold. A recent graduate like Jack, who lacked experience, walked over with caution. He drew his hands together and bowed slightly. "Do you have any orders for me, Mr. Reed, Mr. Saver?" Because Jack was here to follow up on the project, he was obligated to do whatever they instructed him to do, as they were his superiors. Wyatt sat in his wheelchair with a dull expression, but he exuded a sullen and compelling aura that exerted an invisible pressure on him without him having to speak. He lowered his eyes to focus on the minutes ahead of him and then cast an inadvertent glance at Jack, who stood there respectfully looking befuddled. Wyatt spoke in a low, clear tone. "Name?" "My name is Jack, Mr. Reed." Wyatt uttered a faint "mm" and then remained silent. The room became deafeningly silent. Jack's youthful face was flushed with nervousness. His gaze was also perplexed. 'So, why did they summon me here?' Jack considered. Wyatt finally spoke after a long silence. "Did you recently enter the workforce? Why didn't Greg
accompany Ms. Morgan today?" Jack immediately responded with a nod, "Ah yes. Greg is occupied with other endeavors. I joined less than a month ago." He was nervous, even more so in the presence of Wyatt Reed. As a result, he unconsciously responded to Wyatt's questions. Wyatt locked his gaze on him for a few seconds, his eyes narrowed. The corner of his lips curved downward after a long period. "This is a critical project; do not let Ms. Morgan down. You are free to leave." Wyatt's words were dripping with inherent arrogance and authority. "Indeed, sir." Jack exhaled a sigh of relief and exited the conference room quickly. 'What was the point of that?' Jack pondered, puzzled. Liam made a tap on the table. "Is that all?" Liam Saver considered watching a good show. Wyatt cast a cold glance his way. “Ivy has high standards and will not even consider such minions.” Wyatt would not let Jack off so easily if he possessed even a semblance of calm and confidence. He felt as though viewing such a person as an adversary was an insult to Ivy. Ivy and Marco had an easy conversation because their perspectives on the majority of issues were very similar. They emerged from the office nearly a half-hour later. Ivy sent Marco out because he still had some work to do back at the hotel. “Pierce hasn’t been seen in a while. Was he scared after the previous car accident?” Marco greeted her with a polite smile. “He has even witnessed a bombing; how could he be afraid? I recently found him a few tutors, and as a result, he has had a lot of homework lately.” Ivy immediately comprehended. ‘Kids truly lack freedom. What a pitiful child.’ “If you wish to see him, you may do so at any time. He is missing you.” Marco added. Ivy nodded. “Great!”
They were both standing in front of the elevator when Wyatt’s voice came from behind just before the elevator arrived. “Are you returning?” Ivy was taken aback slightly. ‘He’s still here?’ Marco greeted Wyatt with a polite nod, to which Wyatt returned the nod. Wyatt’s gaze was locked on Ivy. His lips curved in a sly smile. “After this meeting, you should be free, right? Then let us return home together.” His words were imprecise. ‘Return home together?’ Ivy became immobile for a brief moment. She bowed her slender neck to check the time. Indeed, it was after business hours. “I still need to...” Ivy resisted subconsciously. “Jimmy escorted me here and has already departed. You cannot simply let me return alone.” Wyatt stated matter-of-factly and with a smidgeon of roguish persistence. Ivy cast a sarcastic smirk across her face. ‘What an obnoxious jerk!’ At that precise moment, the elevator arrived. Marco took a gentlemanly position behind them. Wyatt had no intention of wheeling himself in, and as a result, he raised his eyes to Ivy with an innocent and weak expression. ‘Was he requesting that I push his wheelchair in front of Marco? Or did he want Marco to assist him in pushing his wheelchair?!’ Ivy considered. Both men possessed comparable temperaments. It would be detrimental if the balance were to be upset. Ivy couldn’t conceive of Marco pushing Wyatt’s wheelchair, so she had to roll him into the elevator and stand behind him. Wyatt was content with this and gave a gentle smile. Marco did not enter the elevator after two seconds. Marco greeted them with a polite nod and stated, “I forgot to remove that bouquet of white
chrysanthemums. It is not acceptable to leave them in this state. I’ll catch up.” Wyatt gave a slight nod and then reached out to press the close button. Ivy was rendered speechless. For a brief moment, the elevator was silent. Ivy bowed her head and sent a message to Jack, requesting that he take note of a few points. Bill was downstairs, waiting for Ivy. He walked over immediately upon the elevator’s arrival. Ivy exited the elevator when Wyatt called her name. “Ivy…” She had utterly forgotten that Wyatt was in the elevator with her. Wyatt awaited her push. Ivy frowned as she paused in her footsteps. Bill hurriedly took a step forward as she was about to return and push him out. “Miss, allow me to do this type of difficult work.” Wyatt became speechless. Ivy gave a satisfied nod and continued walking forward. Bill approached Wyatt and pushed his wheelchair, but he was walking very quickly to keep up with Ivy and was unconcerned about the wheelchair’s stability. Wyatt clutched his brow and gritted his teeth, but he had no choice. He would not have allowed Jimmy to leave so early if he had anticipated this. AT HUDSON YARDS. Ivy desired to return to her room to organize some of the ideas discussed during the meeting and left Wyatt with Bill. Once inside, the house was immaculate. Jimmy was dressed in a small pink apron and rushed over to retrieve her shoes as soon as he saw her enter. “Ms. Morgan, you’ve returned! You’ve put in a lot of effort. How on earth do people like you manage to accomplish so much daily while still maintaining your astonishing beauty? I prepared a nutritious vegetarian soup for you. It’s calorie-free and tasty!” Jimmy greeted her with an endearing smile, leaving Ivy speechless.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
