It was already evening, and Leland had been pacing around his house, restlessly waiting for a call from Freya. But there was no word from her, not even a beep from his phone.
The moment Leland noticed a car pulling up outside the Dawson estate, one bearing the Dawson Corporation logo, he dashed out the door.
He barely caught a glimpse of Freya stepping out of the car before he exploded, "Why the hell didn't you answer my calls, Freya? Do you have any idea what's happened at home? We need to head to the police station right now and bail my mom out!" His tone was demanding, his grip on Freya's arm unyielding as he started to drag her towards the direction of the police station.
However, Freya pushed Leland away, catching him completely off-guard.
"What the hell, Freya! You dare push me?" Leland was astounded. He had always strutted around the house with an air of invincibility. He hadn't expected Freya to ever push back.
Just as Leland was about to retaliate, Alison stepped in between them. With a simple, effortless pull, he neutralized Leland's aggression.
"Alison! Have you lost your mind too? You dare lay a hand on me? You're nothing but a lapdog to the Dawsons! Think I won't fire you on the spot?"
Leland's threats were empty, his voice laced with impotence.
Freya responded with a calm yet icy tone, "Leland, you're no longer part of the Dawson family. You hold no position in the company. Even our janitor wouldn't answer to you, let alone Alison."
"Freya! What nonsense are you spouting? I'm the Dawson heir! How am I not part of the Dawson family? Are you trying to seize my position while my mom's in jail? Dream on!"
Leland glared at Freya, his anger palpable.
Freya scoffed, "Why would I need to take your position? You were never my father's child in the first place. Your mother had an affair with Galen within the company, and I've already dealt with him. I forgave your mother, but she embezzled company funds and has been pilfering our assets for years. You and your mother's ambitions towards the Dawson estate were simply too much."
"You're lying! My mother would never have an affair!"
Leland's face turned ashen.
Freya continued, "Considering your youth, I overlooked your previous insolence. But your mother? After all she's done against my father and the Dawson family, I can't possibly forgive her."
She then produced a document, "This is the contract your mother just signed. Now, not only do you have no ties to the company, but the Dawson family as well. The rights to the Dawson family estate have been sold to me, and your mother's share of the inheritance has been settled. We are now completely unrelated, and I have every right to evict you as Ms. Dawson."
Leland's face grew paler with every word.
Freya held the evidence in her hands. Johanna had signed the contract right in front of Leland.
"Freya! I am the only male Dawson left! I am the rightful heir! You can't do this to me!"
"Were those Johanna's words?" Freya knew Johanna had been instilling this belief in Leland since he was young.
