Chapter 17
Chapter 17 Punishment
THE CEO ALPHA KING
Punishment
Writer's POV
An hour later, the cell gate opened and a guard walked in, kicking Serena in the foot and snapping her out of her daydream where she was free and loving with her brother in a cute home.
"Hey, stand up." The guard said again, and she turned to him almost tempted to glare at him.
"Go out, the king wants you in his chambers." He said, moving out of the way as she walked out of the cell and out of the basement.
Almost bumping into Adam, she staggered backwards, pain accelerating her neck from her sharp movements.
She looked up at him and his eyes glanced so quickly at her neck before glaring at her, pushing himself off the wall, he stood in front of her, towering over her like everyone else. "Come here." Adam said, not giving her a chance to respond, he grabbed her hand.
He opened a door and pushed her in before shutting it. She gasped, looking around the plain room for any reason why he would bring her here. Now when the king had sent for her. She was about to say something when Adam glared.
"Now listen to me and listen carefully Serena or whatever you're called. Try to stop pissing the king off. He might really hurt you, try to act normal for once." Adam said angrily before pacing the room.
"You helped me yesterday. You were the one who stopped the king from choking me to death." Serena spoke, her throat hurt with each word that escaped her lips.
Adam stopped his pacing, stepping towards her and into her space.
"Yes, I did that because I didn't want to see another dead body of his slave. I did that because the king, his demons might end up controlling him if he'd killed you last night.
Stop angering him. He is quick to anger and his anger can burn us all. I know the king, I've been his Beta for years. And even if I spend most of my time with him I'm still very much afraid of him.
Aside from that, I see restraint in him whenever you are around him. I don't know what exactly but I feel you are someone that will be useful to him, alive. So stay alive until then. Stay alive." He finished, staring so deeply at Serena, his face void of any emotion.
"Do you understand me?" He asked when she said nothing.
"Y..yes," Serena replied, stepping back to breathe.
"Good."
"Now go help him run his bath. Greet him immediately you see him, do everything smartly without thinking silly and you'll be fine." Adam said, looking around the room as if trying to think of something else except for the situation.
Serena nodded in understanding, suddenly feeling extremely weak and cold from sitting on the cold hard floor in the cell.
"Now go, someone is waiting for you at the door. She'll take you to the king's chambers." Adam said, making no move to leave the room, so she stepped out, leaving him behind.
When she got to the door, she found the human girl, Emi and a sudden emotion filled her. She had mixed feelings concerning the girl.
"Hi." Emi waved happily as usual..
"Hi." Serena waved back trying to bite back the awkward stare that passed between them.
"I'll take you to the king's chambers." Emi smiled leading the way, skipping softly.
"Do you...do you know every route around here?" Serena asked, walking behind her, while looking around at the familiar hallways.
"Yes, I know every inch of this castle. I've lived here for years." She turned to smile at Serena and Serena quickly averted her eyes somewhere.
Emi led her to the king's chambers in a few minutes and stopped at the hallway, turning to Serena, smiling widely.
"You can take it from here." She said,
"Yeah, thank you." Serena replied, looking down the hallway, the king's door was not far away and she knew it by heart.
You owe me two now." Emi voiced once more before smiling and skipping away so awkwardly Serena shivered.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
She ignored the happy steps of Emi that faded behind her and headed for the door to the King's Chambers. She approached the guards at the door.
"The king sent for me." She told them and before they could say anything, the door opened.
One of them urged her in and she nodded, gulping down the fear that had started to climb up her throat.
And as usual, when she entered the room, she felt the temperature drop, the deadly aura filled every corner of the room.
She found him sitting on a high chair, shirtless and facing the window so his back was to her. The room was dimly lit so she couldn't see much. "Good morning, Master." she greeted, slightly bowing her head.
"Go prepare my bath." He growled, not turning to face her. She could still feel his hands against her throat and started to feel uncomfortable.
"Yes master." She bowed, turned to the bathroom and prepared the bath in no time. She hoped that this was only required of her and she wouldn't be bathing him today. She went back to the room to find him still sitting in the same position.
"Master, your bath is ready." She announced standing like an obedient slave with her arms crossed behind her.
"Who are you? What is your origin?" He asked suddenly and she almost ran out of breath.
The question threw her off guard. It was unusual for him to speak to her let alone ask such personal questions.
The question also threw him off guard. Why was he asking her this? There was truly something about the girl that he couldn't quite place a finger on.
"My king." Serena gasped, words escaped her as she searched for something to say.
But the king remained quiet, giving her time to recollect her thoughts and still not turning to her.
"I..I am an orphan. I just recently discovered that, but I have two half siblings....my...my mother is a human..while my father is..an Alpha..but he is dead. That is all I know about my origin master." Serena stuttered.
"No wonder you are so weak." King Zed commented, and her heart sank to the floor as she lowered her eyes.
He suddenly stood up on his feet and Serena took two steps back, power bleeding out of him and almost forcing her to submit.
"You can leave. I no longer need your services," he ordered and walked into the bathroom leaving her standing there.
Serena stared after the bathroom in wonder.
Did the king actually have a conversation with me, even after trying to kill me? She thought.
"You'll be punished severely if you spend one more minute in my room." She heard him say in her mind and she scrambled to the door in fear.
Pulling down the handle, the door wouldn't bulge.
Right, it seems like only the king has the power to open it.
What should I do then? What should I do? Serena thought as she turned back to the room, glancing around for anything that could open it.
She heard the locks from the door and it opened for her. She stepped back. It was probably the king, she thought as she left the room, nodding at the guards who stood outside.
She bumped into Isaac outside the hallway and hugged him tightly.
"Isaac." She cried, squeezing him tight.
Caught off guard, Isaac finally melted into her embrace.
"Hey S, I was wondering where you went. Are you okay?" Isaac asked, pushing her face up so she stared at him.
"Yes, the king called me. I'm literally just coming out of his room." She said before sighing and pulling away from him
"And you okay?" Isaac asked curiously, noticing the eye bags under her eyes. His heart clenched with worry. "Yes. And guess what? The king just spoke to me."
"Really? About what?"
"He asked me about my origin. Isn't that weird?" Serena answered, biting her fingers.
"Yeah, it is. So what did you tell him?" Isaac asked, obviously not liking where the conversation was leading to.
"The truth. That...I..uhm an orphan and I have two half siblings. But then he called me a weakling," Serena's smile fell and Isaac reached out to her, grabbing her shoulders.
"You aren't a weakling. Get that off your head okay?" Isaac said, before pinching her cheeks playfully.
Serena smiled.
"Yes. Of course."
"Okay, so I've moved your things to your new room here in the castle. The king's order, but you won't stay long." Isaac said, whispering the last part so no one with wolf's hearing would hear them. "Okay then. Show me my new room." She said, a little excited she was going to be staying in the huge castle.
"Of course. Follow me."
Right outside the castle, the gate opened and a car drove in. It stopped at the garage, parking flawlessly and a driver stepped down heading to the passenger door to open it for a lady who stepped out. She wore a red fitted dress and a fur jacket that hung perfectly over her slender shoulders. She was a perfect figure, beautiful with blonde hair and bright blue eyes.
The guards around greeted her as she walked into the king's castle and went straight to his chambers.
"Your Highness." She called from the outside.
"Come in, Elena." The king answered, opening the door to let her through.
She majestically walked in to see him coming right out of the bathroom, a towel tied loosely around his waist. But she made no effort to look away.
"You called for me, your Highness." Elena said, watching the drop of water trailing down his torso and escaping into his lower region.
"Yes. Sit."
Elena nodded once before walking towards the long black sofa by the side of the room.
She settled in comfortably while the king searched his closet for something to wear.
"So, I have a problem." King Zed started.
Elena turned her head to look at him, surprised.
"What?"
"You..you have a problem? The king has a problem?" She asked in disbelief.
"Yes. And that's the reason why I asked you to be here." King Zed snapped, making her gulp before bowing slightly to him.
"I know you read all those history notes and ledgers. You might know what is currently going on with me right now."
"Okay, what is going on with you?" Elena asked, looking at him worriedly for the first time since she walked in.
He got dressed before walking to the window.
"I don't know. I don't understand what exactly it is. My wolf and I are not on good terms because of that. So I figured out that it should be a supernatural problem that needs balancing."
"Okay. But your Highness, you'll have to elaborate on this one. I need more explanation to figure out your problem or I will search for it."
She couldn't stop the excitement that flowed through her veins as she stood up.
"It's this half breed. My wolf wants her but I don't. I mean she is just a weak thing. Why will Damon want a weak little wolf like her?"
Elena hummed when the king turned to her.
"Um..when our wolves want someone then that means we are mated to that person. I can't say that in your case because you have already met your mate.
I can't really explain the reason. Maybe she is a second mate. You can ask your wolf, your Highness." Elena suggested.
"I already blocked him out and he won't answer me for sure." King Zed grumbled.
Elena opened her mouth and shut it again. She couldn't believe this. The king's wolf was attracted to someone!
"Um..." She lifted her head, but didn't stare at him.
"It's okay. You can stare at me for today. I'll allow that because you are my therapist."
"Thank you, my King." She said, meeting his cold gaze.
"Who is this half breed and what exactly do you feel when she is around you?" Elena questioned, taking a step towards him.
"You don't need to know her, Elena. She is not your concern."
"Okay, I'm sorry. But you need to open up to me your Highness. I've known you since we were kids, I.."
"And that is exactly why you are here, Elena. It's because I know you and I feel comfortable around you." He interrupted angrily.
"Yes. Okay, let's go back to what you feel when she is around you."
"I don't know. I feel there is something but I don't know what. Not knowing what that half breed will mean or already mean to me is not going down well with me. And I want to kill her for that, but on the other hand I can't because Damon will be really pissed and then he'll take over me and a lot of people will die." King Zed explained.
Elena shook her head in understanding.
"You want her dead. But your wolf wants her." She repeated.
"I dislike her, a nuisance. Weak and always scared. Makes me want to get rid of her more. She doesn't even know how to obey simple rules." King Zed groaned, walking back to the window.
Elena smiled.
"It will be a very good thing your Highness if you keep her around. With her around we'll be able to figure out more about what she is, she might be a weapon to destroy you or she might be a saviour sent to save you."
"You are hiding something from me, Elena. Spill it." He glared at her.
"Your Highness I can't tell you right now until I'm certain and even if you'll have to kill me. I still won't tell you until I'm certain." Elena refused.
King Zed scoffed, turning to face the window again.
"One more thing. Every little mistake she makes angers me, I want her far away from me. But I also want her near me, I want to also know more about her at the same time. You should add that to your theory when researching." King Zed said.
Elena smiled before bowing a little.
"I'll take my leave now, your Highness. Please stay well.
