Chapter 43: The Future Hostess
"How is it possible? Young master is going to marry Ms. Kidman."
"I heard that Master didn't like Ms. Kidman and that he didn't agree to their marriage at all."
"What?" A maid covered her mouth with hand and surprise was all over her face. She lowered her
voice, "Is that true? Ms. Downey popped up suddenly. And our little Noah likes her so much. Does it
mean…?"
"Be smart and respect Ms. Downey. Maybe someday she will be the hostess of this house."

Hayden was busy having lunch with two children. She didn't know that because Noah showed a bit
affection and dependence for her, all the servants in Imperial Villa already began thinking about the day
when she became the hostess of this house. In their imagination, Hayden was already the one giving
orders in this house.
There were four conferences in ST Group today. Two in the morning and two in the afternoon. By the
time the last conference ended, it was already 3 o'clock. Magnus had already ordered some food which
was put on the tea table now.
"Mr. Beckham, please have some food. I will put the conference records in your computer later."
Joseph pinched the place between his eyebrows and nodded slightly. Tiredness was showed by his
eyes and brows. He had been occupied since 7 o'clock in the morning and didn't have time to eat until
now.
After some rest, Joseph made a call to Imperial Villa. The phone was put on the table and the speaker
was on. Joseph picked up the chopsticks and was about to eat.
Soon the telephone at the other end was picked up. Mark, the butler, asked reverently, "Young master,
all was finished in the company?"
"Yes. It just ended. How's home?"
"It's all fine. Please rest assured, young master. Ms. Downey is getting along very well with little Noah.
So is Ms. Downey's daughter."
Through the phone, Joseph heard the laugh from the other side. He could recognize that it was Stella
who was laughing.
"Brother Noah, your toy is so funny. Hahahahaa."
Though Joseph didn't hear Noah's sound, judging by the happy giggling from Stella, he could picture
how happy Noah was at this moment. The tensed eyebrows of Joseph eased up a little.
"That's good. Make sure they are safe and sound."
"Young master, is that all? Ms. Downey asked me just now if you would come back for dinner tonight."
"No. I have a dinner to attend tonight."
Joseph said plainly, "They can go home later. If it is too late, arrange a driver to drive them home."
Hanging up the phone, Joseph suddenly felt a bit complicated. Holding the chopsticks, he stared at the
delicate dishes before him and suddenly found them tasteless. Out of no reason, Joseph thought of the
dishes that Hayden took to the hospital last weekend.
Right now, she was about to prepare dinner. Though there were servants in the house, considering her
personality, Joseph knew she would make dinner herself. He wondered what they would have for
dinner.
"Mr. Beckham, the delivery man said he forgot the chicken soup before and brought it over just now."
Magnus knocked on the door and entered, with his hand carrying a thermal box.
Staring at the silver thermal box, Joseph put down the chopsticks and stood up, "Magnus, cancel the
dinner tonight. I am not going."
"What?"
Holding the box of chicken soup, Magnus looked quite confused and asked immediately, "Why not? Do
you have anything more important? That is the dinner of Shanghai Trade Fair."
Joseph had already got his coat and walked out, totally ignoring Magnus.
He began driving home at a fast speed. When passing a pastry shop on the half way, Joseph stopped
and chose two boxes of pastries. When he arrived home, it was almost nightfall and the sky was still
bright. Upon the sky, there was resplendent rosy clouds in the distance. The house was clamorous.
Laughing and giggling kept coming from the playhouse of the second floor.
When Joseph opened the door, Hayden was standing on the floor with both hands covered by flour.
She was pointing at Stella who was playing wildly on the trampoline. Hayden stamped her foot.
"Get down, Stella Downey. Stop messing around. I am going to make dinner now. Nobody is watching
you and you may fall on the ground."
"And what's your case, Noah? Your wound hasn't healed yet and still you are messing around with her."
With one hand holding the door, Joseph was amazed by the view before him. Noah had always been a
quiet boy. And now he was rolling around with Stella on the trampoline wearing a spider-man's outfit.
He even imitated spider-man from now and then and pretended to spit out cobweb.
Did he look like someone who suffered from a fracture?
After Hayden warned them, they looked at each other and stuck out their tongues before behaving
themselves and getting down.
"Stay this way, understand? Behave yourselves and you can play after I finish making dinner. You hear
me?"
Hayden pointed at Stella's nose, "You should take care of Noah. And don't ask him to play wildly with
you. His fracture isn't healed yet, and his arm is still in a cast."
Stella smiled and grumbled coyly, "Okay okay. I got it, mummy. We will not play on the trampoline."
Satisfied with their behavior, Hayden turned around and walked away.
Because she had been keeping the children in her peripheral vision, Hayden didn't notice someone
was standing at the door when she walked out. So she bumped onto Joseph's chest. Recovering from
the pain, Hayden saw clearly the man in front of her. Panicked, she stepped back immediately and then
stopped.
"So... sorry."
"Ah!"
Hayden cried out. Her forehead bumped directly onto the hard chest of Joseph.
Hayden calmed down and saw the two white handprints on Joseph's black shirt, from which flour was
keeping falling down.
Joseph's face darkened.
"I am sorry." Hayden walked to him quickly, "Let me dust it for you."
While talking, Hayden used her hands to dust Joseph's shirt. The handprints were gone now, but his
whole chest was covered with flour, which Joseph choked on. He covered her mouth with hand and
kept coughing. Then he pushed her away.
"Hayden Downey, are you... are you trying to revenge on your boss? Keke..."
Hayden kept shaking her head as if her head was a rattle-drum, "No, I wasn't planning to do that. It was
a mistake and a misunderstanding. I was making dinner and kneading dough just now. Who knew you
were standing at the door?"
"So you are saying it was my fault?"
"You are the one standing at the door in secrecy and making no sound at all." Hayden muttered, feeling
a bit guilty.
Joseph's eyes darkened and his tone got more serious.
"Hayden Downey, have I been too friendly to you recently?"
"No, not at all." Hayden waived her hand and began stating her reasons calmly.
"You see. The reason I was kneading dough was because I wanted to make pastry for your son. And I
made your shirt dirty for the same reason. So, your son and your shirt, which is more important?
Joseph didn't know what to say. He frowned and didn't plan to arguing with her anymore. So he
changed the subject.
"We have servants in this house. Why are you cooking? I invited you to be our guest and not to cook us
dinner. Don't say I take advantage of you again later."
"How can the dishes made by myself the same as those made by servants?"
Hayden rolled up her eyes and raised her slender eyebrows, "Believe it nor not, if you make pastry for
Noah now, even if it is not as delicious as that made by servants, Noah will feel extremely happy."
"Don't bother, I have bought it." Joseph showed Hayden the two boxes of pastries held by his hand.
"What you buy is nothing like what you make by yourself."
Hayden suddenly thought of something, "Hey, are you free tonight?"
Joseph looked at her and answered plainly,
"Yeah."
"All right then. Come on, follow me to the kitchen. I will teach you how to knead dough and make
pastry. Let's go."
