Chapter 743
Noelle's smile stiffened, and even Sean's expression turned sour.
It was probably the first time he had encountered someone even more shameless than himself, someone who could say such brazen things without any shame.
Luckily, the butler came down from upstairs at this time. "Ms. Noelle, Mr. Smith," he greeted, standing respectfully by Noelle's side.
"Ms. Noelle, Sir Shaw knows you've returned and has asked you to come upstairs. Mr. Smith is welcome to join you."
"Alright," Noelle replied.
She felt awkward and uninterested in staying in the same space as Jade, so she gladly took Sean upstairs. As the butler led the way, he asked, "Ms. Noelle, who might this gentleman be?"
"Eli, don't worry. He's my friend," Noelle replied with a smile. "Mr. Smith, this is our family's butler and my grandfather's assistant."
"Hello, Eli!" Sean responded, showing his ability to read people. Realizing that Eli was not on Jade's side, he relaxed.
Eli nodded approvingly. "Hello, Mr. Smith."
"Sir Shaw is in his room. Ms. Noelle, you and Mr. Smith may go in," Eli said, pausing briefly. "Sir Shaw is in a good mood today. What would you like to drink?"
"We'll have what Grandpa is having," Noelle replied, then she opened the door and led Sean inside.
Samuel was sitting in a bamboo chair with a thick blanket covering his legs. There was also a book in his hand.
When he saw Noelle and Sean enter, he removed his glasses and set the book aside. "You're back, my dear?"
"Grandpa!" Noelle greeted joyfully as she walked over and took Samuel's hand. "I'm back."
"Good, good!" Samuel nodded repeatedly, then looked up at Sean. "Who's this, my dear?"
"Grandpa, this is Sean, Charlie's
friend,"

Sean approached, his demeanor exuding elegance.
Although he often seemed carefree, Sean knew how to act appropriately in important moments.
He knelt down to be at Samuel's eye level and greeted him politely, "Good day, Sir Shaw. I'm Sean."
"Sean? I thought it was supposed to be Bob?" Samuel looked a bit puzzled, not quite understanding the situation.
He recalled that Jade had been
bustling around that morning, instructing the Shaws' household staff that the man accompanying Noelle should be addressed as the family's new son-in-law.
Samuel, being older, did not want to get involved in such matters. Besides, he knew about Noelle's marriage to Charles and figured Jade could not cause too much trouble.
Hence, he had not paid much attention to it.
Even so, he distinctly remembered the name of the man being Bob, not Sean.
Hearing this, Noelle exchanged a glance with Sean and smiled. "Yes, this is Sean. He's a friend of Charlie's."
"The Bob you mentioned is my brother, whose real name is Andy Jones. Have you ever heard of him?" Sean explained politely.
"Andy Jones? From the Jones family?" Samuel's expression changed. "The Jones family from Cascade City?"This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
