The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 555

Chapter 555

Ronan had a good idea about why Thomas was at his doorstep.

“Mr. Evans, is Mrs. Evans around?” Thomas asked Ronan, looking like a mouse that had just spotted a

cat.

“She’s out, took the kid to the mall.”

“She’s not here?” Thomas pondered, wondering if Ronan was aware of the situation, and whether

bringing it up would inadvertently reveal his own past secrets.

“Are you here about the gossip surrounding you and Alana?” Ronan inquired, cutting to the chase

before Thomas could respond.

A hint of embarrassment crossed Thomas’ face. “Yeah, that’s right. Word on the street is Mrs. Evans

spilled the beans, and I wanted to check with her about it.”

Ronan snorted dismissively, “Don’t you know that the Alana you fancied and the Alana you’ve been

with isn’t the same person?”

Thomas was confused, “What do you mean? What’s going on?”

“The Alana you fell for is the one from the TV shows, but the one you slept with is her twin sister.”

“What??” Thomas, a man in his forties, realized he’d been duped not once, but twice by the same

name – Alana.

It wasn’t a pleasant feeling to be tricked, and Thomas felt his head spinning. “What’s the full story?

How are there two Alanas?”

“Alana has been riding her sister’s coattails, conning and deceiving. The TV dramas were all her

sister’s work. She opened a film company using her sister’s connections. She’s crafty, that one.”

Lost in thought, Thomas forgot to ask how Cordelia had come to know this. It wasn’t until he was back

home, sitting on his couch, that the shock of the old scandal resurfaced, and he realized he had been a

complete fool.

After Thomas left, a small smile curled on Ronan’s lips. He had wanted Thomas to know he’d been

played for a fool and to stoke the fires of his grudge against Alana. He relished the thought of his two

enemies clashing – whoever fell didn’t matter. It would be a spectacle he’d enjoy, much like the feud

between Deanna and Tabitha.

Shortly after Thomas’ departure, the police arrived to deliver the conclusion of Deanna’s case. Ronan

had tipped off the authorities earlier, asking to be informed once the case was resolved.

Cordelia had just returned with Callum. They were shopping for clothes at the mall.

“Mr. Evans, we've cracked the Deanna case. It was done by a guy named Xavier. He unplugged

Deanna’s oxygen because he bought a pair of sneakers from her online store for over a thousand

bucks, thought they weren’t worth it, and got furious when he couldn’t return them.”

“Isn’t that motive a bit flimsy? Didn’t you find anyone else?” Cordelia inquired.

“That’s all we have.”

Cordelia glanced at Ronan. She had once suspected him, but it seemed she was mistaken.

After the police left, Ronan didn’t mention Thomas’ visit to Cordelia.

Cordelia settled on the sofa. “I might need to leave today. I have class tomorrow.”Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.

“Leave tomorrow then. I’m heading to Birchwood anyway.”

“We’re divorced,” Cordelia countered.

Ronan just laughed; he never took Cordelia’s words to heart.
