Chapter 2156
"Where will we be going?" Yvonne asked, her voice devoid of feeling.
After completely cutting ties with Drew, she felt like she was adrift without a rudder-unattached and uncaring about where she went or who she was with.
However, she realized that something major must have happened back home, something that had shaken Christopher's foundation.
What would make Taylor, who had always revered Christopher as a god, panicked enough to flee?
"It doesn't matter where we go. We just need to leave! I've saved enough money over the years to ensure we can live comfortably for the rest of our lives," Taylor said, removing the USB drive from the computer and tucking it back under his shirt.
Yvonne's gaze remained fixed on the spot where the cross lay. "Didn't Mr. Iverson say we should get married here in Sentania?"
"We can talk about that after we leave!" As Christopher's lackey, Taylor was ruthless and cold-hearted, but his feelings for Yvonne were genuine. The way he looked at her betrayed his true emotions.
“Marriage isn't the most important thing, as long as we can be together," Taylor insisted. Yvonne felt a chill run down her back, and she returned none of his affections.
Just then, Taylor's phone rang. It was Christopher calling. Taylor gathered his composure and quickly answered.
"Mr. Iverson, what are your orders?" Taylor asked. Whatever Christopher said on the other end made Taylor's face change dramatically, and he began pacing anxiously. "In these troubled times, I'm grateful that you are still thinking of us. We'll follow your arrangements."
After ending the call, Taylor collapsed into the leather chair. He hung his head back and squeezed his eyes tight, exhaling defeatedly.
Yvonne furrowed her brows and asked, “Taylor, what happened?"
It was not out of concern but out of curiosity, about what scheme Christopher had planned next.Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Mr. Iverson insists we get married here in Sentania and hold a wedding. After the wedding, we're free to go wherever we want, and he will no longer interfere."
Yvonne had long accepted the reality of her ultimate union with Taylor. So when she spoke next, she remained cool and detached. "Isn't that a good thing? Isn't that what you've always wanted?"
"Somehow I still feel that something isn't right." Taylor's brows knit tightly together. "But it's Mr. Iverson's final order. I can't disobey him."
He was lost in thought until a faint, alluring fragrance reached his nose. Taylor looked up in surprise to find Yvonne standing in front of him, her bare shoulders exposed. The silk robe had slipped off, leaving her in only a delicate, sheer camisole.
Her long black hair contrasted starkly with the pure white fabric, a sight that stirred something deep within him.
Taylor's eyes were locked onto the bewitching vision before him. He couldn't bring himself to look away from her enchanting face. For years, he had never had a lover. He only satisfied his physical urges but no one had ever touched his heart.
In his mind, Yvonne was his only love. The only time he had ever resented Christopher was when he replaced Yvonne's face with Bella's.
Yvonne had nothing. She had no
her
family, no friends, and not even a clear memory of where she came from. The only thing that marked identity was her face-until Christopher cruelly took even that away, stripping the girl of any sense of self.
"Taylor..." Yvonne whispered seductively. Her slender arms wrapped around his neck as she pressed a knee between his parted thighs.
The way she fluttered her eyelashes and her unique mix of innocence and seduction would make any man fall for her. Taylor, who had loved her for so many years, was no exception.
