The rooftop was cold.

Trembling with fear and overwhelmed by the immense pressure and terror, Taylor shook like a leaf as he held the gun.

He had not released the safety, worried that he might misfire the gun by accident.

Even now, with no other way to escape, he had never intended to take Yvonne's life. Even if there was only a slim chance, he still wanted to take Yvonne with him.

Taylor knew that everyone looked out for themselves in times of great danger.

Christopher had long ceased to care about him and would probably betray him when the time came. Taylor was prepared for this. He was confident that his intelligence and cunning traits would be enough to help him escape and disappear.

He had ended up here solely for Yvonne.

Taylor wanted to give the woman he loved a wedding and a beautiful beginning. He believed that even a rat from the gutter could also long for a moment in the sunlight.

He wanted Yvonne to live. He needed her to live. Otherwise, everything he had sacrificed until now would be meaningless.

Suddenly, Yvonne burst into laughter, her eyes bloodshot and wild.

Taylor's voice shook. "Yvonne, what are you laughing at?"

"I'm laughing at you. You think you're so clever, coming up with plans for Christopher. But you're just a fool driven by lust. You're too stupid to realize I was using you all along. I hate you, Taylor. I hate you so much. You think you saved me? Do you think I agreed to marry you because I have feelings for you or because I'm grateful? No... I only wanted to drag you and Christopher down to hell. Every moment with you felt like a thousand ants gnawing at my heart. It was utterly painful and disgusting!"

Taylor felt his blood freeze before rushing to his head and pounding in his skull.

"N-No. That can't be... How could this be?"

He knew Yvonne did not love him. He knew she was not even close to liking him. But if she was willing to marry and leave with him, she should not have hated him this much...

"Remember that video of Owen murdering someone? Oscar spent over two months following him, hiding in the shadows to capture it. Oscar was not only my comrade, he was also my only hope for survival in Pivotage. He was my only friend."

As Yvonne thought about Oscar's tragic death in the basement and his silent, unspoken last words, her eyes welled up with tears again. Her chest was burning with anger. "Oscar sacrificed his life for that evidence. In his final moments, he sent it to me through Morse code. He told me that he hid the evidence under the chassis of my red sports car in the garage. So that day, I tricked you into coming with me... It wasn't for some bullshit birthday gift for Christopher. It was to get the evidence of Owen's crimes!"

Drew stood just a few steps away, his gaze intensely fixed on Yvonne.

His heart pounded fiercely. It took everything in him to hold back his tears.

At that moment, he suddenly realized that his so-called love was an illusion. It was nothing more than a fleeting fantasy.

It was so shallow, so pale, so laughable...

The girl he loved had been enduring hell on earth every day. She sacrificed herself over and over, bore humiliation, and fought against these demons with all her wits.

Yet he, despite seemingly being able to do anything, could not save his beloved from her torment. He could not even pull her out of the abyss.

He was useless. Utterly useless!

"I've never thought of being with you." Yvonne's eyes gleamed with crimson hatred. Her words cut into Taylor's heart like a knife. "I came to Sentania with you and married you, only to gain your trust, so that you'll completely drop your guard around me. You hid all the evidence of Christopher's heinous crimes in that cross around your neck. It's all concealed right next to your heart. That night, when I seduced you and invited you to share a bed with me, it was only to steal the evidence you were hiding."

"Yvonne... You... You're so heartless!" Taylor's temples throbbed with rage, veins bulging like venomous snakes. The lighthouse of hope and faith he had desperately built in his heart crumbled immediately, collapsing with a thunderous crash.

"Yvonne ... Yvonne..." Drew completely lost control. His tears poured down like rain, blurring his vision. Only those who knew him well understood that his tears were like rare pearls from the ocean.

In thirty years of his life, only this woman before him, battered and bruised, scorned by the world, had ever gotten both his tears and his heart.

"Taylor, you are no different from Christopher to me. You're just as evil. Your hands are just as bloody to me. Yet, you still delude yourself into thinking I might have any feelings for you. Isn't that funny?"

Yvonne laughed loudly, her clear laughter echoing to the sky.

She was so determined, burning all bridges behind her, because she had long since lost the will to live.

Even though she knew Drew was waiting for her, she no longer wanted to live.

He deserved someone better. She could not bear to see herself wasting more of his time.

She was merely a flower of evil, cultivated in the soil of darkness. Now that she was separated from her greenhouse of sin, her only wish was to drag Taylor down to hell with her before she withered away! "Yvonne... I treated you so well... How dare you betray me? You deceived me from the very beginning!"
