Chapter 128 When Words Fail, Actions Speak

Ranita's heart was struck hard, causing a sharp, throbbing pain. She wanted to casually greet them, but her feet felt as though they were nailed to the ground, making it impossible to move forward.

"Ranita, why aren't you moving..." Dylan caught up from behind, and his face darkened as he witnessed the couples hugging and embracing in public.

"Oh... Ranita?" Just at that moment, Shannon spotted them, and her voice rang out in a surprised, delicate tone. Property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Brendon looked back at her before gently moving Shannon aside and walking towards Ranita. "Why are you here? Is something wrong?"

Ranita was at a loss for words.

"We came to visit a friend! Ranita is perfectly fine; Mr. Stuart, you don't need to worry," Dylan said, stepping forward to block her. His gaze lightly landed on Shannon, and he wore a sly grin. "Oh, Shannon is swaying back and forth, looking like she's about to fall flat on her face. Mr. Stuart, shouldn't you give her a hand?"

Shannon's face blushed, and she pouted, "Mr. Webster, why do you have to be so mean in your words? Did I offend you somehow?"

"Why beat around the bush? I just find you annoying, alright?"

"Dylan! Be more considerate with your words!" Brendon's voice was laced with frost as he shot a cold glance at Dylan and led Ranita a few steps away.

In a hushed tone, he asked, "How did you get here? Did you come with Dylan? Did he go to your apartment looking for you?"

"Just as Dylan mentioned, we came to see Eve," Ranita replied after a moment of silence. She pushed Brendon's hand away and gave him an indifferent look. "We're in a hurry, so we'll go ahead."

Ranita glanced briefly at Shannon before heading to Eve's hospital room.

"Ranita!" Eve was lying on the hospital bed, one leg raised high with a heavy cast. When she saw Ranita, her eyes lit up like a bee spotting honey. "My darling, come here quickly!"

Ranita was taken aback, took a few quick steps, and her eyes moistened. "How did things get this way? And why didn't you call me and Dylan when the accident happened? We only found out through the news, for heaven's sake!"

Ranita's emotions were unstable, and her eyes turned red in an instant.

"Ranita, don't cry! Don't cry!" Eve couldn't move as she lay down and yelled at Dylan, "Dylan, what are you waiting for? Comfort her!"

Dylan rolled his eyes. "You did this to yourself; comfort yourself."

Eve seemed somewhat innocent. Ranita restrained her emotions and squeezed out a smile. "I didn't cry! I was just startled by your appearance."

"Don't believe those marketing accounts online," Eve interrupted them after pausing for a moment. "It's not as serious as they make it seem! I thought I was going to die when I read them myself."

"Pah! Nonsense!" Ranita slapped her hand on the bed rail, causing Eve to scream in pain immediately. It wasn't until then that Ranita noticed that there were also large abrasions on Eve's

hands.

"I'm so worried about you," said Ranita with great concern.

"Yeah! When we saw it trending online, we were scared out of our wits too," added Dylan with a sigh while worrying about his few remaining driving license points.

"You brat! How many times have I told you not to run red lights?" shouted an angry Eve at Dylan while raising her fist threateningly.

"I'm so scared!" replied Dylan defiantly without backing down.

They were true friends with good vibes all around until a voice that sounded both sweet and soft came from outside the door. The three of them exchanged glances before rolling their eyes in unison.
