The Indifferent Ex-Husband Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate

Chapter 49

Chapter 49

She gave Brandon a puzzled look.

Brandon was gazing back at her his eyes cool and detached.

Sophia realized he was talking about Ivan.

“I’ve got no clue,’ she said. She hadn’t gotten close to Ivan, never played the lovey-dovey couple, and had no idea if he met her expectations in a romance.

But to Brandon, her answer rang with a different tune.

“No clue” meant there was room for further observation, perhaps even a chance for development.

He thought Sophia would just say “no,” like she always did to him, straight to the point – no beating around the bush, no

gray areas.

But clearly, Ivan was different in Sophia’s eyes.

This realization only added to the tightness in Brandon’s chest.

He didn’t speak another word, just silently started the engine.

Sophia shot him a glance, feeling a bit at sea. His face was still, calm as a millpond, but the tight lines of his profile betrayed the stormy mood he was emitting.

Brandon kept mum the whole drive back to the hotel.

The car came to a standstill in the underground parking of the hotel.

Once parked, Brandon unfastened his seatbelt but didn’t make a move to get out, just sat there like a statue.

Sophia looked at him, taken aback.

Seeing his off-color expression, she didn’t dare to disturb him and whispered, “I’ll head up first.”

As she spoke, she unbuckled her seatbelt, turned, and pushed the door open to leave.

The door had barely cracked open when suddenly a hand reached over, landing on Sophia’s, and forcefully pulled the

door shut.

Confused, Sophia looked towards Brandon as he leaned in, “What, what’s up?”

His eyes were deep and tranquil.

Brandon didn’t say a word. He just gave her a look, propped his palm against the back of her seat, and then leaned in, kissing her fiercely.

Sophia couldn’t say anything.

Brandon didn’t give her a chance to react. His other hand wrapped around her waist, pinning her against the seat. kissing her hard and deep.

Her slightly parted lips were quickly breached.

The forceful Invasion was undeniable and insistent

Two years of marriage had taught Brandon exactly how to stir Sophia’s desires, especially when she least expected it

Sophia’s rationality crumbled layer by layer under his deepening kiss.

She didn’t stand a chance.

Brandon knew her body too well, and her body vividly remembered all the reactions he elicited, his dominance, his tenderness, and the palpitations he caused while kissing her. Faced with Brandon’s intensifying kisses a mix of fierceness and gentleness, she was overwhelmed by the familiar scent and warmth between their lips NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.

And Brandon showed no signs of stopping.

He even seemed to be getting carried away, his hand beside her ear uncontrollably sliding into her hair, firmly cradling her neck and head, tilting it back slightly as his heavy breath filled the compact space.

Most of the time, Brandon kissed her gently and patiently.

But this intensity was rare, as if he was venting something.

Sophia couldn’t fathom it. Her increasingly oxygen-starved brain tumed all her resistance into feeble compliance.

Eventually, Brandon’s kisses softened, his lips and tongue caressing hers, his breath gradually calming down.

After a while, he finally let her go but didn’t pull away entirely, his palm still gently cupping her cheek, forehead resting. against hers, nose to nose, sharing a breath He looked into Sophia’s hazy eyes, his

fingertips gently caressing her cheek as he spoke in a raspy voice, “Sophia, can’t we just start over and give it another go?”

Sophia’s foggy mind slowly regained a bit of clarity, but her uneven breaths made it hard to speak. She could only take small gasps of air, trying to settle the erratic rhythm of her breath.

Brandon didn’t rush her, his fingertips gently stroking her swollen lips, his soft voice coaxing her gaze, “All the incompatibilities you’ve mentioned, I can try to change. We can always find a common ground.”

“Why, why?” Sophia asked breathlessly, “You’ve been acting strange these past few days.”

“I don’t know” Brandon was honest. “I can’t stand the thought of you ending up with another man someday. I don’t want to see you with another man, he said, his voice soft and steady.

Sophia watched him, repeating her question, “Why?”

She saw confusion flicker through Brandon’s eyes.

He hadn’t pondered the ‘why, unsure if it was habit or male possessiveness at play.

He was used to Sophia’s presence, accustomed to her being around, and he couldn’t picture adapting to another woman. He knew for sure he didn’t want to make that adjustment.

Likewise, he couldn’t bear the thought of Sophia being with another man, especially imagining her lying beneath someone else, the way she only did with him. Such thoughts nearly drove him mad.

Sophia didn’t press further but said softly, “I’ve heard that men have this inexplicable possessive urge towards women they’ve been with, regardless of whether they can stay chaste themselves. They hope that woman will belong to only them for life.”

“Brandon,” she continued, looking at him, “is there a chance that this is just possessiveness talking? After all, we haven’t been apart that long.”

Brandon looked at her and didn’t speak, not denying her speculation.

He didn’t argue that he had a strong possessiveness towards Sophia.

Sophia saw the acknowledgment in his eyes.

She smiled slightly and gently pushed him away, “Sometimes things just become a habit. It might feel weird at first, hard to get used to, but give it enough time, and you’ll adapt. Eventually, you might not even remember why you resisted in the first place.”

“Emotions are the least likely to leave traces over time,” Sophia said softly, looking at him, “Don’t worry, I have no plans to date or remarry for now. I just want to focus on finishing my studies and figuring out my future path. So don’t need to stress about having to get used to the idea of me finding someone new. By the time you get back into the swing of being single again, you’ll probably have forgotten I ever existed.” Sophia’s voice was still calm and gentle, not in any rush. “So, don’t sweat it now. It’s not like you to fret over stuff like this”

Brandon just looked at her, not saying a word

Sophia gave him a nudge, “Go on, head back.”

But Brandon didrit budge, still silently watching her

Sophia, don’t try to read me with your own script,” he said softly,

Sophia looked at him, “So what’s your plan?”

“We’ll get remarried, and have the baby.”
