Chapter 1736 Courting Death Together

Chapter 1736 Courting Death Together

"Another fool courting death, huh? Are you her companion?" Hall Leader Chen asked disdainfully as he glanced at Rocky and noticed his ordinary appearance and weak aura.

"I'm her man. Is that a problem?" Rocky replied with a sly smile.

Eunice shot a glare in Rocky's direction. She had no idea whether he had come to save her or to take advantage of her.

"Her man? If you want to be a hero to save this beauty, you should make sure you have the ability to first," Hall Leader Chen said, puffing out his chest arrogantly. It was clear that he didn't take Rocky seriously at all.

"I'm not trying to be a hero. I just want to take her out of here. I hope you can understand!" Rocky replied politely.

"Okay. You want to die? I'll help you then!" Of course, Rocky knew that it was an impossible wish. Hall Leader Chen would never let him leave with Eunice. Instead, he made a move, intending to send Rocky straight to the hell.

Currently, the onlookers were concerned. They thought that Rocky was so desperate to be a hero because he was out of his mind. Challenging a middle-level Spiritual Emperor was like begging for death.

Rocky stood calmly and watched Hall Leader Chen charge at him. Then, he flourished his hand and a dozen silver needles flew out.

When he saw them, Hall Leader Chen laughed. He gathered his strength and tried to knock them away, but the needles were stronger than he had expected and they pierced through his spiritual power.

Within seconds, at least half of the needles had stabbed into his skin.

Eunice gasped. She didn't think that Rocky's silver needles could penetrate the spiritual power of Hall Leader Chen. That meant that Rocky was likely stronger than Hall Leader Chen.

"Damn it!" Hall Leader Chen was so angry that he swung his fists at the air. He was ready to kill Rocky. But when he gathered his spiritual power again, nothing resulted.

"I'm sorry. I must have forgotten to mention that I put Paralyzing Powder on the needles. You won't be able to use your spiritual power for three days," Rocky commented, raising his eyebrows and smiling.

"You..." Hall Leader Chen trailed off. Rocky had beaten him using his own trick. His teeth gritted and his fists clenched as more anger filled him.

The onlookers were shocked. None of them expected Rocky to defeat a middle-level Spiritual Emperor in one move. Was it possible that Rocky was a great master and he was just hiding his strength?

"You can try to get your men to stop me, but I will take her away," Rocky taunted as he scooped Eunice into his arms. Then, he turned on the spot and transformed into a shadow.

"What are you waiting for? Catch them!" Hall Leader Chen yelled at the top of his lungs, pointing directly at Rocky.

The disciples from the East Grand Sect picked up their feet and ran in the direction where Rocky and Eunice had disappeared.

Meanwhile, Rocky was running as fast as he could while he held Eunice. He knew that the people from the East Grand Sect would not just let them get away, so he needed to find a safe place to hide.

Eunice was so weak that she could only look up at Rocky. He had just saved her life. Now, a light blush was tinging her cheeks.

After running for a while, Rocky stumbled upon an old, shabby temple in the northwest of the Emperor City. After confirming that there were no nearby dangers, he entered the temple with Eunice.

After setting down Eunice, he took out a pill and handed it to her.

"What is it?" Eunice asked, eyeing it cautiously.

"Just take it. It can cure your symptoms," Rocky replied.

She took it in her hand, but she was still hesitant. She didn't know who Rocky was, so she wasn't sure whether he was trying to help her or if he had an agenda.

"If you don't want to take it, I won't force you. But I believe that the disciples from the East Grand Sect will find us soon. I'm no match for them. And if I can't defeat them, I'll have to leave you behind," Rocky said, trying to persuade her using fear.

"But you were so arrogant back there." Eunice's mouth was hanging open slightly. She had thought that Rocky was a great master. How else could he have defeated Hall Leader Chen so effortlessly?

"I was bluffing. Get it?"

Eunice rolled her eyes at Rocky and then looked at the pill in her hand.

"Hurry up and take the pill," Rocky urged.

"If you tell me who you are, I will take the pill." Eunice refused to compromise.

Rocky shook his head. He knew what kind of person Eunice was. If he didn't give her what she wanted, she wouldn't stop badgering him. So he peeled off his human skin mask and revealed his true face.

When Eunice saw his true identity, she yelled out.

"Basil? It's you?!" After their last encounter, she thought she would never see Rocky again.

"Of course it's me." Rocky shrugged and smiled.

"We all thought you were dead." Small tears of relief were welling up in Eunice's eyes.

"I'm not that easy to kill!" Rocky said confidently.

"Why didn't you show up earlier? Where have you been?" Eunice demanded, stabbing her finger against his chest.

"It's a long story." Rocky shrugged her off. There wasn't enough time to explain it all.

"My uncle Colton said that when you opened the door to the other world by yourself and sent all your companions through it, it exhausted you. After that, no one knew whether you were alive or not!"

"Yes, I did use up all my strength. Because I was so weak, I was captured by the Shura Race." Rocky nodded.

"A human elder saved me and hid my identity so I could stay with the Shura Race."

"Well, it's great to see you alive!" Eunice exclaimed, patting him on the back.

"How are things going in the Di Clan? I heard that the death of the chief of the Di Clan caused a lot of havoc."

"Yes, it was a disaster for a while. Fortunately, the elders arrived just in time and selected Colton as the acting chief. Now, the Di Clan is in peace again."

"That's good to hear."

"By the way, when you got to the Emperor City, why didn't you come straight to me?" Eunice asked in an accusing voice.

"I was on my way to visit you at your place, but then I ran into you."

"What a coincidence. But what took you so long to think of me? Did something bad happen?" Eunice questioned, clearly not able to hold back her curiosity.

"You are getting smarter. I came here to attend the Spiritual Emperor Contest," Rocky answered in a serious tone.

"Does it have something to do with the Shura Race?"

"You really are smarter. Yes. The Shura Race sent nine disguised Godly Geniuses here to participate in the Spiritual Emperor Contest and test their strength. I'm one of them!"

"A Godly Genius?" Eunice frowned.

"It's a successor that is chosen by the gods."

"Do the gods really exist?" Eunice asked quickly, raising her eyebrows.

"Yes. I saw them with my own eyes." Rocky nodded.

"No wonder the Shura Race has always been powerful and prosperous. It turns out that they're protected by the gods." Eunice suddenly realized something and added, "But now that you have returned to the human race, you don't need to disguise yourself as a member of the Shura Race! It doesn't matter if you're a Godly Genius or not!"
