Chapter 1922 Pay A Heavy Price

Chapter 1922 Pay A Heavy Price

Although Vivian was not looking, she still sensed what the Spiritual Emperor in cyan was trying to do. She wanted to see how it would play out, so she didn't bother making a move and just let him get close to Rocky's back.

He was drawing nearer when Rocky slowly turned to face him.

"I guess it's true what they say, huh? Ambition never dies until there is no way out," Rocky sighed with a faint smile on his face. He then waved his hand, and a mysterious fighting energy surged out from his body like an invisible shock wave, which instantly rushed into the body of his opponent.

As soon as the mysterious fighting energy reached the Spiritual Emperor in cyan garments, it instantly destroyed his meridians like a violent torrent.

In his eyes, Rocky looked so bored and uninterested, so he didn't understand why he felt like blacking out the next moment. After all, the last thing he saw was Rocky simply waving his hand.

"Aaahhh!" The Spiritual Emperor couldn't stop screaming in agony as he spat out mouthfuls of blood. After a few seconds, his eyes rolled back into his head and then he collapsed on the ground. His body twitched a few more times before he took his final gasp.

The high-level Spiritual Emperor in black was completely dumbfounded as he watched his companion drop to the ground. He didn't understand what happened since he didn't even see Rocky move. All he knew was that approaching Rocky resulted to his friend's demise.

He tried to make sense of what he saw, until he reached the assumption that it was the masked woman who could have possibly killed him. Besides, Rocky couldn't have done anything harmful to his friend without lifting a finger.

However, as he delved further into it, he figured that Vivian was a few meters away from the scene. She didn't also bother reacting, so there was no way she could have done it.

The Spiritual Emperor in black had racked his brains until he was at his wit's end, but he still couldn't find the most rational conclusion. However, he was running out of time. He needed to escape before people from the Wankong Clan came, so he quickly jumped into the air and fled in a hurry.

"Now, what should we do about this casualty?" Vivian asked as she looked at the dead Spiritual Emperor.

"We can just leave it there. Let's go inside and have some tea," Rocky casually replied, and then went straight into the living room of the pavilion.

Vivian nodded and followed behind him.

Meanwhile, as Alex attended to the fire in the other areas of their territory, she suspected that it was merely a distraction. After all, they had already expected that something unpleasant might befall on them, following their disagreement with the Myriad Spiritual Hall. In that very second, she rushed over to the Spring Cloud Pavilion along with three Spiritual Emperors and some Spiritual Kings. Upon their arrival, they were all shocked to the core when they saw a high-level Spiritual Emperor lying lifeless right outside the pavilion.

"Isn't he the one who came with the young master of the Myriad Spiritual Hall earlier today?"

"You're right, that's him."

"What happened here? How'd he wind up dead?! Who could've killed a Spiritual Emperor at the premium stage?"

Alex and her men were all caught off guard. They could not believe what they were seeing.

Truly, this horrible scene had made Alex worry about their guests. As she immediately ran to the pavilion, she murmured, "I hope they're alright."

When she opened the door, however, Alex was befuddled. She found the two sitting at the table, drinking tea, and playing chess. They were basically just lounging around, seemingly unaware of what was going on outside.

"Um... Are you guys okay?" Alex asked reluctantly. She was still in a daze.

"Sure." Rocky smiled at her.

"Do you know there's a fallen high-level Spiritual Emperor outside?" Alex was totally dumbfounded that she moved in slow motion as she pointed outside. She couldn't grasp how Rocky and Vivian could be playing chess when there was a cold body right outside the pavilion.

"Oh? We didn't have any idea. We've been sitting here the entire time. Although, we did hear some noise outside just now, we didn't pay much attention to it." Of course, Rocky was making it up. He couldn't let Alex find out the truth.

Fortunately, Alex didn't probe further and simply sighed in relief. It was enough for her to see that Rocky and Vivian were both fine. She could investigate what happened with the high-level Spiritual Emperor from the Myriad Spiritual Hall later.

After making sure that Rocky and Vivian were unharmed, Alex instructed some Spiritual Kings to guard the pavilion while she went back to report to her father.

At this moment, the fire on the first and second tiers had been extinguished.

As soon as she saw her father, Alex quickly filled him in on what had happened at the Spring Cloud Pavilion. Even he was puzzled when he heard everything. The only thing he was certain of was that the

fire was set off by the Myriad Spiritual Hall, since they wanted to take advantage of the chaos to kidnap Rocky. However, the fact that they failed to take Rocky away, along with the death of a high-level Spiritual Emperor outside the pavilion, seemed utterly inexplicable to them.

"That's rather strange!" Richard had witnessed a lot of peculiar affairs, but this was the first time he had encountered something this odd.

"Father, do you think the other clans have also found out about Rookie? They might have run into the Myriad Spiritual Hall as they were trying to kidnap him," Alex guessed.

"Well, that's possible. But, if that's the case, they should've taken Rookie once the Spiritual Emperor from the Myriad Spiritual Hall died, right?" Richard replied. He was seriously mystified. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

"Maybe they got severely injured? Or maybe they heard us coming and they got scared away, so they didn't get to take Rookie." Alex continued to speculate.

"This whole thing is absolutely weird. But, the important thing is that Rookie and Tripp are both fine. We can still count this as a blessing. Now, just send more people to protect them at the pavilion right away. This cannot happen again before the Ethereal Valley opens!" Richard had finally felt relieved, so he went on and asked Alex to take extra precautions.

Alex nodded her head and left without further ado.

Back in the Breeze Tavern, the high-level Spiritual Emperor in black reported to Seth after escaping from the Spring Cloud Pavilion.

After hearing everything, Seth grew furious. He could not believe what he had just heard since the power of the Spiritual Emperor that Rocky had finished off was unparalleled in the spiritual race.

As the young master of the Myriad Spiritual Hall, Seth had deliberately brought the two Spiritual Emperors at the premium stage with him so he could walk freely and confidently. However, he did not expect that he would lose one of them so soon. It was definitely a heavy loss.

"Did you not see who did it?" Seth asked coldly. It was obvious he was exasperated.

"I'm sorry, young master. Everything happened too fast. There were two of them there. The woman with the mask seemed like the bodyguard of the chosen one. She was likely a high-level Spiritual Emperor of the Wankong Clan," the Spiritual Emperor in black quickly surmised.

"We may have fallen into their trap this time," Seth uttered with hatred and frustration.

"Young master, what should we do? Should we just turn back?" The Spiritual Emperor looked glum when he asked.

"We can't. We don't have anything to show for ourselves yet!" Seth glared at him.

"Do you mean to say...?" The Spiritual Emperor trailed off, hesitant and quite unsure of what Seth could be thinking.

"If the Wankong Clan doesn't want to cooperate with us, we'll just have to make them. Since they didn't want to settle this the nice way, they shouldn't have a problem if we take other measures," Seth declared as his eyes darkened. "Find a way to contact that man, and then ask if he could prepare two slots for us to enter the Ethereal Valley. If he agrees, we'll go as part of the Wankong team first. Once we get inside, I will make their clan pay the greatest price!"

"Yes, young master!" Just as the Spiritual Emperor in black heard Seth's plan, he retreated immediately to do as he was told.
