Chapter 51

Paige entered the building with full of misgiving. She did very well in the interview, and the interviewer was satisfied with her experience and appearance.

The salary they offered was decent. She was likely going to work here afterwards.

Nothing could be more wonderful. On the way back, she made plans for her future, and the first step was to quit her previous job.

She was going to do it right now, so she rushed to her company and submitted the resignation letter.

When she turned back, the car stopped at the street crossing at a red light. She unexpectedly saw the car of James again.

Joseph and James were both in the back seat of the car. The former was cozy there with his head on his arms and the latter was talking to Joseph with a smile.

That was extremely weird. She thought Joseph was the one that supposed to talk courteously to his boss, James.

However, never in her life had she expected to see a supervisor give reverent attention to his employees like that.

She just couldn't stop going over the tangle which pictured Joseph and James in the car.

She couldn't figure it out. Joseph might have lied to her?

No, she couldn't accept a lie again.

But what if Joseph was a liar like Ethan?

It came to her that she didn't know Joseph at all, about where he was from or what he had been through.

It really made her a bold woman to date with such a man of a mystery.

Handsomeness and schemes did not conflict. What if he was as horrid as Ethan for real?

Then she was with another jerk?

No, they were different. Joseph had never asked for anything and he had been helping her all the time. She would be in a hard time without him.

"But why? Where there's smoke, there's fire. Joseph just helped me out of kindness?" There was something hard to explain.

Paige knew that she shouldn't have suspected him, but she couldn't explain what she saw today.

She kept thinking about this till afternoon.

Then the phone rang, and it was Joseph, "What are you doing, babe?"

"Oh, nothing," Paige replied slowly.

"Remember what I said before?"

"What?" Paige did not recall it for a moment.

"A heaving plate?" He reminded her with a smile.

"Forget it. We'll have dinner at home tonight. I'll get groceries later." Paige turned him down.

"But I've got a reservation. And I'm waiting downstairs already." Joseph chuckled, "Come on, babe. Let's move. I promise, It's free."

Paige had to get downstairs. As soon as Joseph saw her, he hung up the phone.

Paige watched him carefully. She was still asleep when he left this morning, so she didn't know what he was wearing.

And she got no chance for observation at noon today. But now, she found that his suit was Armani.

Seen in this light, the driver was even richer than his boss.

Thinking about what she had saw today, Paige finally asked, "Is your boss ok with your dressing, this Armani?"

"He gave it to me." It was close that Joseph gave himself away. He forgot to match his clothes with his job.

Fortunately, he was calm and answered it well, "It didn't fit him so he gave it to me."

"It was really generous of James to send you such an expensive gift." The words meant more than what she said.

"He has money to burn. Mr. Field is running such a giant business, so it is nothing to him."

With this he took out a few cards of Wolf Group, "These are from him. We can use this to enjoy the food tonight."

Paige wouldn't have doubted it if she hadn't seen their unusual behaviours today. But she did.

The clothes, cards, the behaviours, all of these showed that they are in some weird relationship and things were far beyond simple.

It was impossible for bosses and their subordinates to be in such a harmonious relationship that almost were turned upside down.

Unless... what?

A thought came to her when she noticed his charming face. A bad one.

Was James into this handsome man as well?

For his drop-dead gorgeous look? It was true that James never dated with women. He loved men?

Terrifying!

Paige begun to be nervous. She asked tentatively, "Is James good to you?"

"Why is he so good to a driver? For what?"

"Well... I didn't really think about it." Joseph took a look at Paige. He thought, What does she mean by that? Is she suspicious of me?

Seeing at Joseph's innocent look, she thought, "So James is into Joseph but has got no chance to take actions yet?"

If so, she needed to warn Joseph, "Does James treat you differently with others? Did he ever touch your body?"

"Touching my body? No." Joseph shook his head.

"Only clothes and the cards? Nothing more?"

"Nope!"

So he must had a plan to play a long game. These were just the testing to see if Joseph would accept it. He would start his next step afterwards.

Astonishing!

Paige was in a bad mood at the thought of this. That James was pleasing Joseph by these things. She couldn't accept the food exchanged by Joseph trading body.

"Stop, I don't want to go Wolf Group."

"Why?" Joseph was in confusion.

"I just don't want to. I would rather to have fast food now!" She said with emphasis.

Joseph did not know what happened, "Alright, then we won't go there today."

Joseph's obedience made her a little better, "Could you return the card to James, babe?"

"Why? We can go there in another day. I thought you like the food in Wolf Group?"

"Not any longer." Paige answered gloomily, and then looked at Joseph's clothes, "And this suit, ok? It is strange for a driver to get dressed so well."

"Okay, I'll give them back!" Confused, though, he agreed to her request.

Then Paige became happy again. She won’t be angry at Joseph since it was not his fault. James was the one to blame. But fine still, Joseph was her man.

Any one was not allowed to think about her man. She was the one that Joseph could rely on.
