Chapter 2172 She Jogged to Him
Serena hadn't come to their desks for anything serious; a few of them only wanted some advice for
their sketches.
Since Cindy didn't have any questions, she just buried her head in her work.
On the other hand, Serena tapped the edge of Cindy's desk lightly after making one round, causing
Cindy to pause whatever she was doing for a second before glancing at Serena's fingers out of the
corner of her eyes. Then, she dipped her head.
At that, Serena made another round before walking away, whereas Cindy waited for a short while
before heading to Serena's office where the latter was waiting.
When Cindy finally stood in front of her, she picked up Cindy's sketch and studied it before
commenting, "This sketch is a great leap from your past work. We'll see what the others come up with
before making the selection."
With that, Serena pulled out another order from the side and handed it to Cindy. "I have another order
for you, and you're the only one who'll be working on it. You won't have any other designs as a
reference, so you'll have to be more hands-on."
"Is this a sole project for me?" Cindy's eyes widened with incredulity.
Serena smirked in response, and it wasn't until she nudged the order sheet in front of Cindy that the
latter finally came around and hurriedly accepted it.
Cindy couldn't believe it was real. She thanked Serena while holding the order securely in her hands,
saying, "Thank you, Miss Warhol! Thank you!"
Serena said nothing else but only smiled at Cindy, who only came to herself and realized what was up
after exiting Serena's office.
At that, she hurriedly folded the order and kept it in her pocket. Usually, Serena wasn't so secretive
when she handed Cindy a design task. But this time, it was an obvious underhand move. Hence, Cindy
wondered if this was Serena giving her preferential treatment.
Be it that she entered the company through the back door or that she made it clear to Serena that she
wouldn't change affiliations, Serena was certainly giving her special treatment.
After Cindy finally came around, she let out a long and slow sigh. As frustrated as she felt, she also had
to admit that entering through the back door had provided her with a hell lot of privileges.
Cindy continued looking through her book after returning to her desk, and after she finished revising the
whole thing and was confident that she had memorized most of the important stuff, she finally pulled
the special order that Serena handed her.
The order was much more demanding this time, and details regarding the model, color, and overall
layout were more specific.
It wasn't until Cindy looked through all the requirements that she began sketching. Well, she merely Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
scribbled and doodled, for she still hadn't had any ideas yet.
That said, ideas gradually came to her after she doodled for a while, and Cindy got a fresh piece of
paper to sketch out the design in her head.
Soon, Cindy got a little woozy after busying away for a while. At that, she sat upright and stretched
before stopping midway, for someone was looking at her at the doorway.
It was none other than Gary. He wasn't standing in the doorway but slightly away from it. Still, he could
see her desk at first glance from where he was standing.
Cindy was surprised Gary had shown up again. What was more, he was looking right at her from
outside, and she contemplated if she should go and say hi.
After all, it wouldn't be nice if she pretended not to know him. Then again, it would be audacious of her
to greet him so brazenly. Besides, she didn't want people to associate her with the man.
It wasn't that she thought Gary would affect her negatively, but that she didn't have a good reputation in
the office, to begin with.
Her colleagues knew she had joined the company by entering through the back door, but they didn't
know who exactly helped her. Hence, she didn't want to drag Gary into it.
Just as she was hesitating, she found Lucy trotting to Gary's side from out of nowhere.
