Chapter 6 Henry, I’m Cold
Just as Henry was about to pull her arm away, Evelyn moved.
Henry sneered. “Awake? Or can’t pretend anymore?”
He could almost imagine the disgust the girl in his arms would show him next.
Without opening her eyes, Evelyn tilted her head up and fiercely punched Henry’s chest. Her voice
sounded both annoyed and petulant.
“Cold, Henry, I’m cold.”
Evelyn’s strength was weak, like scratching an itch. The warmth from the place where she scratched
on Henry’s chest spread from the inside out.
She was calling him… Henry?
The raging fury in Henry’s heart was instantly extinguished by this sweet voice.
Never in his life had he thought his name could sound so melodious.
The girl in his arms shrank a bit, and Henry realized Evelyn was genuinely cold. He quickly pulled the
blanket over them.
Afraid of disturbing the rare tranquility, Henry maintained this posture the whole time.. As time passed,
he unexpectedly fell asleep.
Little did he know, when his breathing became steady, the girl in his arms revealed a mischievous
smile, she had more than enough charm to captivate Henry.

The next morning.
When Evelyn woke up, Henry was nowhere to be seen.
Evelyn went downstairs and unsurprisingly spotted Henry in the dining room.
He lazily leaned back in his chair, a simple breakfast of bread and milk in front of him. Upon seeing
Evelyn, he appeared noticeably surprised.
Even in the past, Evelyn never appeared in the dining room at the same time as him. She had
mentioned that having a meal with someone she disliked would ruin her appetite.
Evelyn had long forgotten the nonsense she used to say; all she knew was that she was now
ravenously hungry, wishing she could devour whatever can eat.
She walked up to Henry, questioned, “Nothing prepared for me? I’m starving to death.”
Saying that, she pinched the bread in front of Henry and took two hearty bites. Eating too quickly, she
accidentally choked and, in the process, drank Henry’s milk as well.
Henry’s deep eyes stared at Evelyn’s mouth, stained with milk. There was a small gap where he had
taken a bite. Instead of feeling repulsed, Evelyn ate even more indulgently.
With her charming red lips moving, Henry’s mesmerized eyes narrowed, and the gleam in his eyes
grew more dangerous.
He pulled her into his arms abruptly.
“Is it delicious?” His voice was low and husky.
“Mmm,” Evelyn nodded, “Remember to call me next time you’re eating; I’m hungry too.”
Henry didn’t refute, just asked her in a low voice, “Are you hungry? What should I do? I’m hungry too.?”
He sensually slid out his tongue, delicately tracing the milk stain at the corner of her mouth.
Subsequently, he employed his fingers to gently remove the milk residue from her lips and leisurely
savored the taste.
Very sweet. A slight smile formed on Henry’s lips.
Evelyn blushed, feeling the heat spreading throughout her body. She felt the intense gaze from Henry
and hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to continue chewing the bread in her mouth or not.
“Boss!” David abruptly barged in and was instantly stunned by the scene before him.
What did he just witness?
The Madam wasn’t making a scene; instead, she sat so peacefully in the boss’s arms?
Without further thought, he felt a chill at the back of his neck. As he raised his head, he ran into Henry’s
displeased look.
“What’s the matter?”
“The meeting is about to start; I’m here to pick you up,” David said, beads of sweat forming on his
forehead.
Evelyn stood up, puffing her cheeks. “Since you’re busy, go ahead. I can eat at my own pace..”
Henry’s gaze deepening. In any case, he wasn’t pleased.
David knew he was in trouble. He didn’t dare say more than necessary and silently followed behind
Henry.
Once the two left, Evelyn poured herself another glass of milk. Before she could take a sip, David
returned.
“Madam, this is a gift from the Boss.” As he set down a diamond crown, he added, “Boss wanted me to
tell you that he has agreed to give the land cooperation contract to The Martinez family.”
“What?” Evelyn stood up in surprise.
In her previous life, she had wished for the land to be William’s. In this life, she hoped for everything to
fall apart, anything is better than giving it to that scumbag.
“Yes, Boss promised.” David’s smile faded.
He continued, “However, the auction invitation has been sent out. Boss means to let that side go
through the motions.”
“That’s good.” Evelyn felt relieved. Then she still has a chance to turn the situation around.
David felt very puzzled: Evelyn’s reaction today seemed strange. It was as if she didn’t want The
Martinez family to get that piece of land at all.
Evelyn waved her hand to signal David to leave, then picked up the milk to drink.
At that moment, the phone beside the dining table rang. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
