“So I’d email the rest of the deal to you…. have a nice day miss Selene…. I’m glad our journey wasn’t in vain” He tells her as they begin to pack up. Selene gaze wanders to Wayne’s. He holds the door open for them and they stride out. she noticed he had a proud smirk on his face. She chews on her lower lip and waits for the five team of clients to leave. He shuts the door and turns to meet Selene who was still shocked.

“Wayne!….” She blurts out and walked up to him.

“Yes boss…. are you probably gonna taint me again?” He smirked and Selene could almost feel her heart explode with joy.

“Hell no!… thanks so much!…. this… this means a lot!, thanks” She squeak out. she hesitates a second before she blinks, throwing her arms happily around him..

Wayne seems startled for a moment as she hugs him, he hesitates a second before his arms wrapped around her. Her soft silky hair tickled his chin and he breathes in the delicate fragrance of her cologne. Hugging her felt like holding a porcelain, delicate and fragile too. For one he won’t forget how she felt in his arms, she’s got a fiery deameanor but when her delicate frame was pressed against his, he realized she was just the normal kind of lady.

“Umm… I’m sorry…. I…. just got too excited” She stuttered, tucking her hair back to her ears.

“You don’t need to apologize boss… it’s your way of thanking me… ” He smirks down at her and her blush deepens. She bats her lashes and grab her handbag from the table.

“I… I’d just get back to my office…” She says and brush past him, striding out of the room. Wayne chuckles, shakes his head and follows suit.

Selene slams her office door shut and plonked down the single sofa. She groaned loudly, palming her temple in embarrassment. Jeez Selene!… when did you ever do huggies! her subconscious screams as she kicked off her heels and slid her feet into her slipons. She’s never hugged a guy, and hugging Wayne made her feel so safe. The manly scent of his aftershave still clung to her. If given the chance she would have stayed in his arms much longer than that. She blew out a breath and stalked to her swivel. She doesn’t know what to make of her feelings anymore. One moment she’s mad at him, the next her heart is beating wildly and she could barely control it. Selene itches her hair and smiles when she remembers the contract. She had badly wanted that contract. Working for the Chicago clients would open a lot of opportunities for the company, and it was just what she wanted.

Wayne hadn’t disappointed her and if anything she was glad he was her secretary. But how the heck did he know so much about textile. She knot her brows as curiosity sets in. She had mentally rehearsed what she would say at the meeting and Wayne had done that within minutes. Selene taps her finger continuously on the table as curiosity got the best of her.

She’s just gonna watch the CCTV footage of the conference. She needs to know just how good he is. What he presented to have made them accept the contract. Picking up the office telephone she punched in some numbers, putting a call across the security department.

“Gosh!…. I feel like shit!” Stacey groans as she slide into one of the counter stool. Melissa chuckles as she hands her a glass of water.

“I told you Stacey let Wayne be…. he’s doesn’t seem to fancy you” Melissa rolls her eyes.

“Shut up bitch” She cuss and chug down the water. Melissa chuckles and move to the worktable.

“So did you get to see Selene…. I kinda like her you know” She turns to wink at her. Stacey palm her cheeks and sigh lowly. She just can’t believe Wayne would work for her. How did they get to know each other.

“You know what Stacey I think Selene fancies him, they would pass for a perfect couple” Melissa taunts as she diced the cabbage.

“And what makes you think so!” She snarls. Melissa drops the knife and turns, leaning against the worktable.

“Look I saw a video some time ago in those gossip pages.. She abandoned her date to meet up with him in the same restaurant. It turns out Wayne declined whatever thing she told him and left her” She shrugs as Stacey gasps.

“Holy shit!… that means only one thing Mel!… Wayne doesn’t fancy her!” She breathe out happily. Melissa scoffs.

“Don’t be too sure girlfriend… Selene is an handful. I don’t think anyone can resist her for long” She roll her eyes and turn back to what she was doing. The smile leaves Stacey face, and she clenched her teeth in anger. That can’t be true. Wayne can’t suddenly decide to date Selene. He’s just met her damnit!. She slide down the stool and huff.

“I’d be up in my room Mel… That bitch would be home anytime soon… I’m not ready for her psychotic attitude” She mutter tiredly and grab her purse.

“Did I just hear you call me bitch?” Zoey voice out as she appears at the doorway. Mel cackles loudly and Stacey groans, slumping back to the stool in exasperation.

Selene watched the CCTV footage of Wayne’s presentation for the umpeenth time. She’s been stuck in her office since noon and she couldn’t stop watching it. His presentation was more than perfect. She blew out a breath and slam the laptop shut. She shouldn’t stare too much. The door opens and Gwen steps in with a tray of coffee and cookies.

“Hey ma’am… I figured out you might need this. You’ve been stuck to that chair for hours” Gwen grins as she places the tray in front of her. Selene smiles gratefully, muttering a thanks as she bits into one.

“You look happy today…. it’s about the contract you secured huh?” Gwen asks as she arranged the files on her desk.

“You got that right Gwen…. I’m so freaking happy. I was so nervous about it…. it’s a good thing Wayne handled it perfectly” She sighs.

“Yeah right… I know. Everyone can’t stop talking about the new hottie, and jeez his smile is killing!” Gwen winks and Selene laughs.

“Really Gwen…. Do you need to be told you’re married?” Selene rolls her eyes playfully. Gwen shrugs a shoulder.

“I’m just telling you as it is” She chuckles just as the door opens. Selene bites down at her lips as Bill steps in. Gwen rolls her eyes and straighten up. She’s always hated Bill clingy attitude towards Selene and Mrs grace. Hell!… she knew he had liked Mrs grace from the onset.

“I’d just get going ma’am” She says and brush past him. Selene glanced at her watch. Jeez!… She didn’t realise time was far spent.

“So how was the conference… trust you handled it perfectly?” Bill smiles as he stalks to the couch. He couldn’t keep out the anger he felt when he saw wayne sitting at his desk. How the heck did he move from embarrassing her to working for her!?.

“Huh?… contract… sure it was perfect…” Selene fakes a smile. Bill nods slowly, It hurt him to see Selene wasn’t close to him anymore. He had almost lost it when she announced to him that he won’t be following her to the office. And he was sure it boils down to the fact that she employed the new secretary… Zayne perhaps. But he made a promise to Mrs Grace that he’d protect her and come what may, he’d stick to his promise.

“Are you ready to leave now?” Bill says, pushing out his thoughts.

“Yeah sure… go get the car ready, I’d be down in a minute” Selene smiles at him and he nods, ambling out of the office.

“Damn!… when did he get so clingy!” Selene groans as she picked up her handbag and stride out of the office.

“Leaving already?” Wayne asks as Selene steps out of her office. Selene itches her hair, still embarrassed at the incident.

“Umm…. Yeah, and thanks once again” She forces a smile and walked hastily towards the elevator. As she punched the button, she could swear he was staring at her with his mouth turned down in a smirk… Fuck!.

“What’s up with this annoying traffic Bill!?” Selene grits, running her fingers through her hair. Traffic in this part of the city could be annoying atimes.

“There’s a road block ahead Selene…. some parts of the road is under construction” Bill replies as he taps his finger at the steering.

“Aren’t there other routes that could lead into the main road…. I’m stressed Bill” She voice out wearily.

“Sure there is, but it’s gonna take longer” He drives forward as the traffic moves.

“Then take it already!” She caterwauled. Bill spares her a glance, wondering why she is suddenly cranky. He sighs and nods.

“Alright…”

Selene leans back in her seat as Bill drives. She had no idea why she was suddenly angry. Maybe it was because she seems to be loosing a grip on herself whenever she’s around Wayne. He’s always got this intimidating smirk on his face. She roll her eyes and looked down at the ring. The ring suited her perfectly and it was though it was made just for her. Selene caresses the ring and stare out of the tainted window. She watch people zip past as Bill drives smoothly. Her eyes stops on this huge club with it’s well lit entrance and her heartbeat seems to stop for a second.

“Bill!… pull over” She rasp and he does so immediately. She stared at the club entrance with dilated eyes, fisting her palm and trying to steady her ragged breathing. The same club she visited when she was this scaredy girl looking for college fees… the same club she was raped in.
