Chapter 23
Chapter 23
Even a rabbit would bite when it was cornered. With a calm yet powerful gaze, Judy stared at Jenna.
Matthew couldn't control Jenna, and the pressure from both sides fell on her. Judy couldn't just sit by idly. If she caused trouble again, Clark would definitely kick her out! Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
In a fit of rage, Jenna reached out to grab the phone.
"Give me the phone!"
She only now realized that she had kept her guard down. She needed to destroy the recording.
Judy quickly dodged her, but still couldn't avoid Jenna's attack entirely and accidentally knocked over the plate of snacks. With a loud crash, it shattered into pieces on the floor.
"Jenna, what happened?" Sally asked from the living room.
Seeing that, Jenna became even more frantic. When Judy was still in a daze, she snatched the phone and threw it directly into the sink where the rushing water instantly submerged it.
Jenna wrestled with Judy in the struggle, and they both fell to the ground.
"Ah—!"
Their screams echoed in the kitchen.
"What's going on?" a cold, male voice echoed from the kitchen doorway.
Somehow, Clark had returned home and stumbled upon their altercation.
Right then, Judy was pinned underneath. She winced in pain as she lifted her head, only to see Sally and Clark walking in one after the other.
Clark's tall figure stood behind Sally, exuding an imposing presence like a majestic mountain.
Judy trembled subconsciously at the sight. Before she could explain, Jenna, who was sitting on the ground now, started crying first.
"Clark, my hand is bleeding!"
"Oh my!" Sally yelped and asked, "What happened here?"
Blood was seeping from Jenna's palm and dripping onto the floor after it was cut by the shards of the porcelain plate.
"Judy was feeling unwell, so I wanted to help her, but she pushed me away just like that. Clark, it hurts so much…" she sobbed.
This… was complete nonsense. Jenna was distorting the truth and telling lies!
Judy's face turned pale, and she subconsciously shook her head while looking up at Clark. She believed that he would not easily believe Jenna's poor acting.
Furrowing his brows, Clark strode past Sally and squatted down in front of the two. He gave Judy a cold glance before reaching out to Jenna the next second and said, "Let me see."
Jenna was still crying and trembling as she extended her delicate hand toward him.
"Ouch, it really hurts. I just wanted to help my sister, but she said she didn't like me being around all the time because she's the mistress here. Clark, should I not have come…"
The mistress?
Clark's expression darkened as he looked coldly at Judy.
"This is the Reid residence. It's not up to you to decide who gets to come here, is it?"
Judy's heart sank. She looked at him in disbelief while slightly shaking her head in denial, her face so pale as if she had lost a lot of blood.
"I didn't say that," she gestured.
She hadn't done anything. Why wouldn't he ever listen to her explanation?
In front of her eyes, Clark helped Jenna up and instructed a housekeeper to fetch the first-aid kit. Jenna leaned into his embrace, and he didn't push her away.
As they left the kitchen, Jenna's eyes gleamed with smugness.
She cast a warning look at Judy as if saying, "The phone's gone now. If you dare say a word about what happenedjust now, you're dead."
Seeing Judy still on the floor, Sally glared at her with disgust.
"What are you still sitting there for? Clean this up quickly. I seriously don't understand what's wrong with the Blake family. Both of you are daughters of Blake, yet you, a disgrace, end up marrying into the Reid family. What shitty luck we have!"
