Chapter 539 Finding a Military Backer
Chapter 539 Finding a Military Backer
Upon hearing that, Megan slowly calmed down her anger.
She panted and hissed in annoyance, "Fine, I won't stoop to Ysabel's level today, but I'll never forgive her!"
While Megan calmed down, Clarence was shocked.
"Right! How could I forget that? The Larsons have a son in the military!" Clarence glared at Ysabel.
"Don't you know the status of the military in our country?! Why would you provoke that crazy woman?!"
Ysabel was taken aback. Obviously, she had forgotten about the Larsons' son serving in the military.
Her lips moved as if she was about to say something. Suddenly, a thought struck her, and she said to Elijah, "Honey, I remember you mentioning that you have a former classmate whose son is a platoon leader in the State Military District. Is he here today?"
"You mean Brandon? Yeah, his son, Thomas, is a platoon leader in the State Military District. I did invite him. He should be here."
"Great! The State Military District is higher in rank compared to Cleapolis Military District!" Ysabel laughed.
"Besides, Asher is no longer a platoon leader! How can he be of comparison to your former classmate's son?!"
Saying that, she grabbed Elijah's arm.
"Quick! Let's go meet your former classmate and reconnect with him. This way, if Megan uses military power to pressure me again in the future, I'll have the confidence to confront her!"
Clarence's eyes lit up.
He chimed in, "Elijah, why didn't you mention earlier that you know people in the military? With connections in the military, surely we will have even stronger backing!
"Let's go! Let's meet your former classmate!"
Now that both his elder brother and his wife insisted, Elijah had no choice but to stand on the stage and look for Brandon in the crowd.
Before long, he spotted several familiar faces, all of whom were his former classmates.
They were gathered together, reminiscing the past with nostalgic looks.
Elijah pointed at the group and said, "There he is. He's chatting with the other classmates."
"Come! Let's meet them!"
Upon saying that, Clarence turned to Nicholas. "Nicholas, you and Mia can find a place to rest while Elijah and I get acquainted with his classmate."
With that, he pulled Elijah toward Brandon's direction.
Ysabel grabbed Reene.
"Reene, come! We're meeting your father's former classmate. His son may not be as rich as Andrew, but the young man has military influence! It would be quite advantageous if you can marry him."
Reene knew that Ysabel had just calmed down. If she refused now, Ysabel might start throwing a tantrum again.
Helplessly, she could only follow her stepmother and the two Wynn brothers toward the crowd.
When they approached the group, Elijah called out first. "Hey, guys. It's been a long time!"
The middle-aged men and women all turned their heads and greeted him smilingly. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
"Hey, Elijah! Thanks for inviting us! You're the reason we could be here at Ramada!"
Among those classmates, some did well, and some did poorly. But without exception, none of them had the means to dine at Ramada Hotel's 60th floor.
So at the sight of Elijah, they all put on a smile.
Seeing this, Clarence stepped forward and struck up a conversation with them.
"You all must be Elijah's classmates. It's my daughter's engagement today. Thank you for coming!"
"President Wynn, what an honor. We've long admired your name."
Clarence shot Elijah a sideways glance and urged, "Why don't you introduce us?"
Elijah understood his elder brother's intention and gave a brief introduction. "These are Nasir, Keagan, and Wyatt. They're all my former classmates."
Then, he pointed to a slightly balding man and introduced him emphatically.
"This is Brandon Baxton. Back then, he was also a top student in our class."
