Chapter 248
After standing in front of the meditation room for almost two hours, Yvette felt that her lower legs had become completely numb. She felt somewhat resentful.
She saw that Selena and Rebecca were still softly chanting with closed eyes in front of the room being very cautious. Yvette couldn't help but lower her head with a slight pout. She thought. What's the point of doing all this? Nothing can compare to the good fortune I have now. Yvette thought disdainfully, and her eyes were filled with subtle mockery. Just then, Cody said to her, "Yvette, come with me."
Yvette immediately put on a sweet expression and looked up. "Dad, where are we going?"
Cody said meaningfully, "I want to introduce you to someone. It's because of him that we had the chance to become father and daughter."
Yvette was confused, but she still followed Cody obediently out of the room. They walked through the main hall, headed west, and then entered a small side hall.
Many people were waiting at the entrance and glancing around. When they saw Cody and Yvette, they took a few curious glances at them.
Cody completely ignored them and led Yvette into the courtyard. It was freezing on the mountain, and a young man was sweeping away the snow with a broom.
Cody stepped forward, made a respectful gesture, and said, "Excuse me, is Mr. Bethune inside the hall?"
The young man bowed politely and said, "Mr. Bethune has a visitor today, so please come back another day, sir."
Someone outside the hall shouted to Cody, "Are you also here to seek guidance from Master Norman? Just come out of here and wait with us. Then you may have a chance to meet him. Don't get in and disturb him."
Cody snorted quietly, showing disdain for their advice. He thought, 'They're not qualified to be compared with me at all.
Cody continued speaking to the young man, "Mr. Bethune only meets guests on the fifteenth of each month. I won't bother him much. I just need to confirm something with him."
Cody paused. With pleading eyes, he lowered his voice and said, "Can you ask Mr. Bethune first? Tell him I've visited him eighteen years ago, and it was him who gave me advice and helped my family narrowly escape disaster." The young man bowed again but shook his head, "Mr. Bethune has already given instructions. Please, sir, you should leave."
Cody's expression changed slightly. He was trying to hold back his anger. He thought, 'How dare a cleaner treat me like this?!"
Yvette was listening to them. Seeing Cody hold back his emotions, she thought of something.NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
Then she stepped a little closer, reached out to tug on the young man's sleeve, blinked innocently, and pleaded, "Sir, maybe you're new here and haven't met us before, right?
"We're the Nelsons from Crescentville. My dad is Cody Nelson, the head of our family. He's an old friend of Master Normal. Could you do us a favor and ask him for us?"
Yvette felt that she looked fresh and charming today. She was sure that such a young man wouldn't be able to resist her gentle words. She was eagerly waiting for his cooperation and Cody's praise.

To her surprise, the young man's expression did not change. Heven stepped back, as if avoiding some kind of trouble.
He said. Thave been managing this side hall for three years and have paid attention to all of Master Norman's friends. There'vio rond of this man. Please, you two should leave."
A few giggles came from outside the side hall.
Someone said. I've told you to wait outside, but you didn't listen How can you expect to fool someone who's been around Master Norman He's surely observant and won't fall for your tricks!"
Another person said. "Exactly, you're so stubborn. You've been refused three times and still wouldn't leave. How can people like you come here? Unbelievable!"
Yvette felt really embarrassed, and Cody's face also darkened. He angrily raised his hand to point at the young man, clearly intending to reprimand him.
But after considering, he managed to suppress his anger. He swing his hand and left with a cold face. Yvette lowered her head and quickly walked out after him.
Shakira really thought Walter was going to take her to eat roast chicken in the church, so she got a bit anxious. She couldn't help taking out her phone to search if it was allowed to eat chicken in church.
Fortunately, the car suddenly drove onto a side path, winded through several curves, and finally stopped in front of a house. The house stood halfway up the mountain. Shakira wasn't sure if this place still belonged to the church, but when she looked diagonally backward, she could indeed see the imposing building on the mountain peak.
Walter got out of the car and noticed her hesitating to speak. Remembering what she was searching on her phone earlier, he couldn't help but chuckle.
He stopped teasing her. He held her hand with one hand and maneuvered the wheelchair to move along with her.
He said, "Before the church was established, this house was already here. It's the first restaurant in Silverwave Bay known for its roast chicken. It has almost a hundred years of history."
Shakira nodded. "I see."
They walked inside and then saw a sign with wobbly chalk writing that read "Roast Chicken".
In a short while, an elderly man with white hair came out, warmly showed them to their seats, and poured them water. Without even asking what they wanted to eat, he turned around and went into the backyard.
Then Shakira heard some clucks. Soon after, the old man came out with a struggling chicken, which he took to the nearby pond to prepare.
Shakira was surprised and turned to ask Walter, "Did you order something?"
Walter said, "This place only serves roast chicken, nothing else."
Shakira said, "Oh, I see."
Seeing her looking around curiously, Walter shared more stories about this restaurant.
Walter said, "It's said that a hundred years ago, a young couple disobeyed their parents' wishes, eloped, and settled here at Silverwave Mountain. "Back then, wild chickens were common, so after settling down, they started a roast chicken business. Their skills were
