Chapter 89
Chapter 89
Jocelyn glanced at the ashtray he was offering, but she didn’t take it.
Instead, she asked him flatly. “And who exactly are you to me?”
She had just turned away when she spun back around, her gaze landing on the official in the comer, who was too afraid to move. She said, each word deliberate and heavy, “I couldn’t care less about my own career. But as for yours, it’s finished.”
With that, she left without any hesitation.
Her face was swollen, her hair a mess, her clothes disheveled, and that’s how she walked out of the club
Melvin hurried after her and grabbed her hand. He frowned when he saw tears streaking her cheeks-a sight he hadn’t witnessed earlier.
“Leave me alone, Jocelyn rasped, eyes fixed on his grip.
Melvin didn’t release her but tightened his hold
He pulled her to his car, opened the door and pushed her inside.
Jocelyn didn’t resist. She had no strength left and knew Melvin wouldn’t let her go easily.
The car drove off and stopped by the riverside moments later.
The evening breeze was gentle. The lights from both banks twinkled. A small boat floated on the river, lending the bustling city a moment of tranquility
Melvin pulled her out of the car and walked towards the river. The water reached their shins, but Jocelyn didn’t make a sound.
It wasn’t until the water was chest-high that Melvin couldn’t hold back any longer.
“Aren’t you afraid of dying? Melvin had been holding his breath the whole way along, thinking it had been let out. But her lifeless act ignited his anger all over again.
The river water was cold. Jocelyn suddenly took another step forward and the water was now over her shoulders. All of a sudden, she plunged headfirst into the depths.
Panic instantly seized Melvin.
“Jocelyn! Come back!”
He dove in after her, searching frantically in the murky water.
He swam towards her direction and finally felt her
Pulling her to the surface, he roared at her, “Are you insane?”
Jocelyn wiped her face, panting heavily, staring at the man in front of her who was fuming, “What does it matter to you if I die?”
“You Melvin was beyond frustrated
Jocelyn’s calmness was in stark contrast to his rage, “You said I wasn’t worthy, so why bother with me? Isn’t entangle with someone you deem unworthy?”
“Don’t push me, Jocelyn!” Melvin lost it at her words.
“I’m just stating the facts, Jocelyn said, taking a struggling step away.
Melvin caught her hand again
Jocelyn turned back
“What do you want?”
Melvin looked into her cold eyes and stubborn face. When did she start looking at him with such disdain?
It seemed she no longer cared about him.

“Why can’t you just talk? Why can’t you come to me properly if you need help? Who are you being so stubborn for?” He gripped her shoulders, frustration clear in his voice, “If it weren’t for me today, do you know what would have happened to you?”
His words reignited the calm fury in Jocelyn, and she violently shook off his hand, yelling back, “Why should I come to you? Am I that desperate? Knowing you don’t love me, should I grovel like a loyal dog begging for your attention?”
She scoffed, ‘Or is it that Willow can’t satisfy you? You just have to have a taste of me?”
Melvin’s veins throbbed with anger

“Isn’t this what you want?* Her voice shook, but her tone was icy, “I’m repaying you. After this, it’s none of your business even if I die?
Melvin was livid
Roughly cradling her face, he kissed her hard to vent his fury.
Jocelyn didn’t resist. She let him do as he pleased like a doll, lifeless in his hands
His remained affection for her was nothing more than physical desire. Once he was bored, he would no longer care about her.
“Is this your idea of repayment? Are you dead? Melvin, disgusted by her passiveness, released her, spewing venom, “You’re supposed to please your savior!”
There was no light left in Jocelyn’s eyes.
He was humiliating her Once that was done, he would let her go
Her fist clenched underwater, she took a deep breath and slowly lifted her hands out of the water, placing them hesitantly on his shoulders. Her touch was rigid and lifeless as she caressed him.
Melvin watched her hand moving across his body in silence.
“Is that all?” he asked, eyes narrowing Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Jocelyn’s hand froze over his heart, feeling its powerful rhythm.
She looked at his cold face, eyes drifting to his lips. She leaned in slowly and kissed him mechanically.
As Melvin’s gaze grew colder, her hand moved again, inching lower, fingers fumbling with his belt buckle.
Just as she was about to undo it, she was shoved back forcefully.
She stared at the man.
Melvin’s eyes twitched, “Not here. I don’t want to catch a disease”
Holding her breath, Jocelyn was unsure of his intentions. She quietly pulled her clothes back on.
Melvin grabbed her hand and led her to the shore, then pushed her into the car.
Both were drenched, water pooling beneath the seats.
Autumn was setting in. The night air was chilly against their wet clothes.
Melvin didn’t care about the puddles at his feet. He sped them home and the water barely dried when they reached the elevator
He glanced at Jocelyn. Her face was pale with the stark imprint of a hand on it.
Jocelyn hadn’t thought to struggle. This would be the last time. She wanted no further ties or entanglements with him.
Entering the apartment, Melvin stripped off his clothes regardless of her presence.
“Shall we shower first, or do you want to get straight to it?” Jocelyn suddenly spoke up, “I’m in a hurry”
Melvin’s pants hit the floor with a thud. A fire ignited within him. He grabbed Jocelyn’s hand and pulled her towards the bathroom, his voice a mix of frustration and desire, “Then let’s make it steamy while we shower!”
The shower head rained down upon them as Melvin peeled away her clothes and planted a fierce kiss upon her.
Jocelyn stood there like a puppet, enduring all that he gave, biting her lip so fiercely that not a single sound escaped
As Melvin felt her silence, his intensity grew Jocelyn’s fingers clawed at the wall, her lips were bitten to the point of bleeding But still, she did not give in to his demands.
After what felt like an eternity, Melvin’s fervor subsided. He pressed against her back, teeth grazing her shoulder as he whispered resentfully into her ear, “Look at you. Even with your coldness towards me, your body sings with passion How can you bear to push me away?”
A sharp twinge struck Jocelyn’s heart. She braced her hands against the wall, swallowing hard before she found her voice, “Are we even now? Is your debt paid off?”
Hearing her hoarse voice laced with detached words, Melvin bit down hard on her shoulder
Jocelyn almost didn’t hold back a cry. But in the end, she managed to swallow the sound back down.
