Chapter 346
Chapter 346
“We just keep going down this way, and remember to avoid any cars that pass. They might be ours, and they’ll recognize us. We don’t recognize them, so they can easily spot us.”
Alex nodded, and while popping a candy in his mouth, he said, “Sure thing, I’ll stick behind you.”
Alex and Aiden continued down the dimly lit lane.
They didn’t bump into any cars as expected, but soon enough, Alex started lagging behind, just as Aiden predicted.
“Aiden, I’m beat. Can we take a breather?”
Aiden checked his phone and said, “Can’t. We’re about two kilometers from downtown, where we can hail a cab. Hang in there.”
“Two kilometers? I’m really exhausted.”
Aiden quickly handed him a candy and asked, “How about now? Can you make it now?”
“It’s no good. I’ve found out that candy can’t solve my fatigue. My legs are giving up.”
Aiden had no choice but to pat his back and said, “Then hop on; I’ll carry you.”
“But won’t you get tired, Aiden?” Alex pouted yet didn’t move, “Never mind, I’ll just follow behind you, just slow down a bit.”
Aiden nodded while dialing his dad on his phone, but it kept saying the line was busy.
“I’ve been calling since morning till now. I can’t get through to our dad. Looks like he’s blocked my number,” Aiden sighed after finishing his sentence.
Alex was a bit puzzled and asked, “Why would Dad block your number?”
“Given the circumstances, it’s probably not Dad’s doing. It’s probably Grandma’s.” Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
“Why would Grandma do that?”
“Because she doesn’t want me to contact Dad! There must be some issues with Mom and Dad now, but I have no idea what it is. We’ll only find out when we meet Dad.”
Upon hearing this, Alex let out a long sigh, “Finding Mom is really tough.”
“We need to keep going so we don’t have to switch moms again. Victory is in sight. Just two more kilometers, and we’ll see Mom and Dad!”
Just moments ago, Alex was yawning, but hearing Aiden’s words, his desire to see his mother recharged his energy.
“Let’s go. I don’t feel as tired now!”
At the Melendez Group, in the CEO’s office.
It was rare for Emmett Melendez to be as restless as he was now. Even with a pile of contracts to sign, his eyes were glued to his phone, eagerly waiting for any. news of Clara Calloway.
Perhaps due to his anticipation, his phone finally rang. It was Matt.
Emmett quickly picked up and asked, “Any news on Clara?”
“Yes… Mr. Melendez, we found another address for Elio Milburn. It’s his friend’s place, but he bought it many years ago and never officially transferred the title, so we overlooked it before.”
Emmett immediately stood up and said, “Tell me the address. I’m heading there now!”
‘Mr. Melendez, it’s too risky for you to go alone. I’ll come with you.”
“No need! Continue investigating Clara’s whereabouts; don’t delay.”
