Chapter 364
Chapter 364
Nestor’s phone rang.
It was Elio.
Clara motioned for him to answer immediately.
Nestor quickly hit the answer button, and Elio’s anxious voice came through.
“What happened to Clara?!”
“She fainted! I tried everything but couldn’t wake her up, and the doctor’s phone was off!” Nestor spoke and then glanced at Clara.
Clara nodded, signaling for him to continue.
“It’s really bad; I think Ms. Calloway could stop breathing soon! Elio, hurry back and check on her!”
Upon hearing this, Elio on the other end of the phone immediately responded. “Hold on, I’ll be right there!”
After hanging up, Nestor exhaled heavily and looked at Clara. “Ms. Calloway, I can’t thank you enough! You saved Elio!” This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Clara bowed her head, feeling somewhat ashamed. “You don’t have to thank me; I feel really guilty. Elio has done so much for me. This time, he was willing to fight with Leah for my children, so I couldn’t just stand by.”
Nestor sighed, still recovering from the shock. “Elio is stubborn. Once he sets his mind on something, he won’t easily change. He was like this as a kid. If he liked a toy, he wanted that toy. No matter how
great the other toys his family gave him, he wouldn’t even play with them.”
Clara lowered her head. She knew about Elio’s deep feelings for her.
But not everything could be solved with deep feelings, especially when it came to love. If you didn’t like someone, you just didn’t. There was nothing that could be done about it.
Before, Clara had considered settling down with Elio just to give her children a complete family.
But after much thought, she realized that was too selfish.
Elio’s affection for her might have just been temporary. If he met someone he truly loved in the future, being already married with a child would ruin his happiness.
So she stopped thinking that way. She knew she was partly to blame for the current situation.
She should have made it clear to Elio sooner or explicitly told him they wouldn’t be together.
“After spending some time with you, Ms. Calloway, I think you’re a kind-hearted girl. It’s no wonder Elio is drawn to you.” Nestor said. “Unfortunately, you already have children and a loved one. I’ve tried to persuade Elio to let go, but he just can’t let go of you.”
Clara smiled faintly, not wanting to continue the conversation. What was done was done, and talking more wouldn’t change anything.
She didn’t know where Elio was right now. But soon, she heard the screech of tires outside.
Elio burst through the door.
After seeing Clara standing at the door, he froze and frowned. “Didn’t you faint?”
Nestor quickly chimed in. “Elio, you’re finally back!”
“What’s going on?”
“Elio, don’t do anything rash.” Nestor quickly stepped forward to stop him.
Clara also stepped forward, her face serious. “Elio, do you want me to feel guilty for the rest of my life?”
Elio suddenly understood. He clenched his fists, not knowing how to explain his actions. “I really couldn’t think of any other way. I promised you that I would save your children. If I can’t save them, I’ll take Leah away. I dragged her into this, and I should be responsible for taking her away.”
