Chapter 601
After speaking, Hera headed toward the car parked by the side, where Wayne awaited her and Johnson.
Johnson followed her, feeling somewhat discouraged. "I'm really sorry. I thought I could..."
"No need to apologize. I've already found an operating room." After getting into the car, Hera took out her phone and started texting.
From the start, she never expected Reinland Hospital to provide her with an operating room. But since Johnson was determined to try booking the place, she did not stop him.
Johnson was slightly astonished. "You've found a place? Where?"
"You'll know soon enough. Wayne, let's go," Hera spoke to Wayne, who was seated in the driver's seat, but he did not respond to her.
"Wayne?" Hera called again. This time, Wayne answered, "Oh, yes. Are we leaving now?"
Hera followed his gaze and noticed that Everly's Forever Clinic was not far ahead. Although the clinic was open, there weren't many patients inside.
As they drove past Forever Clinic, Everly was nowhere to be seen. She was likely afraid to show up at her clinic for fear of running into the loan sharks.
Marcus stood by the window of the deputy director's office. He looked down at the hospital entrance, where Johnson had followed Hera into the car before leaving. Marcus' inscrutable gaze did not reveal any emotion.
"Mr. Chime Senior would be furious if he knew about this, Mr. Chime," the deputy director beside Marcus reminded him.
In fact, it wouldn't affect the hospital much if they merely provided an operating room and some medical equipment. On the contrary, it would generate headlines that Hera was collaborating with Reinland Hospital. That might even boost the stock prices.
But Marcus refused to do so. The Chime family and Hera had been at odds with each other ever since Hera sent Camille to prison.
Marcus was even more furious
when he learned that the medicinal ingredients Everly bought had gone to waste. In fact, Everly's plan did not even negatively impact Youngworth Miracle Clinic
It wasn't as if Marcus cared a lot for Camille and Everly. He was just infuriated that Hera had ruined the Chime family's reputation.
After all, Marcus would take over the Chime family in the future. Thus, he did not want anyone else to be better than him, especially his competitors. "Don't let him know about it, then," Marcus snapped.
Augustus had gone to Syldoria to attend a medical seminar. If he were here, he never would have permitted them to do something as absurd as welcoming Everly into the family.
"Even if we don't provide them with
an operating room and medical equipment, someone else will," the assistant director couldn't help but remind Marcus. After all, Hera's reputation was still quite beneficial to the hospital.
Marcus narrowed his eyes sinisterly. "Inform everyone that no one is allowed to provide an operating room and equipment to Hera and Johnson!"
The assistant director's lips parted
as if he were about to say something. In the end, he did not speak his mind and merely said, "Noted." Then, he turned to make some phone calls.

He returned a moment later and cautiously said, "Mr. Chime, Ms. Youngworth has already found an operating room and equipment. They were provided by Silverleaf Hospital."
"Does Silverleaf Hospital not want to work with us Chimes anymore?" Marcus exclaimed while banging the table.
Although Silverleaf Hospital was a public hospital in Jedburgh, they would reach out to the Chime family whenever they needed medical equipment. "The head of the Alternative Medicine Association, Oscar Bloom, made the arrangements and secured the operating room," the assistant director explained.
Hearing Oscar's name made Marcus clench his fists tightly. Although the Chime family specialized in modern medicine, they often considered expanding into alternative medicine.
Marcus had sought out Oscar a few times. However, Oscar was a busy man who was often unavailable. Now, he seemed free enough to interfere in this matter.
"Let's go to Silverleaf Hospital. She's so young, so how capable can she be?" Marcus unexpectedly stood up and left.
