Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 717

Chapter 717

Since the CT and MRI scan results wouldn't be out any time soon, Hera went to the washroom to change out of her hospital gown. She seemed rather youthful after wearing a set of white casual workout clothes and tying her hair in a ponytail.

"When are we leaving?" she asked while exiting the washroom.

Bernard checked the text he received from Samson. "Let's go now."

Two hours later, a black car arrived at Jedburgh Prison. The prison warden, Duncan Pratt, came out to personally welcome the visitors with two other employees.

Duncan noticed that Samson, the assistant of the grandmaster of Astral Nova, had personally driven Bernard and Hera to the prison. In fact, Samson even personally opened the car door for them. That meant that Bernard and Hera were not ordinary visitors.

Duncan hurried forward to greet them, "Mr. Shaft, Mr. Killian, Ms. Youngworth."

Samson nodded. "Is everything in order?"

"Mr. Lucius is already waiting in the visitation room. Please come with me," Duncan said while leading the way.

The three of them followed Duncan through the winding corridors before finally arriving at the visitation room. Perhaps Bernard had called ahead to inform Duncan of their arrival, so the room wasn't the typical visitation room in a prison.

Instead, Duncan prepared a small, private room for Hera to meet with Lucius. Meanwhile, a prison guard was stationed outside the room.

"Go on in. I'll wait for you here. Call me if you need anything," Bernard said.

Hera nodded. It was better for him to not enter. Then, she could speak freely with Lucius.

The prison guard opened the door for her. The visitation room wasn't big and was about 75 to 86 square feet large. There was a long table and four chairs inside.

Lucius sat with his back facing the door. He turned around upon hearing the door open and approaching footsteps. His eyes were rather similar to Bernard's, and he had chiseled features. Although Lucius was over 40 years old, he looked as if he were in his 30s. Clearly, he hadn't suffered much in prison all these years.

Hera felt a whirlwind of emotions while looking at his familiar face. In comparison to her memories of Lucius, he hadn't changed much aside from some signs of aging.

Meanwhile, Lucius stared at the graceful young woman before him. Hera's cold yet flawless beauty gave off a sense of aloofness. She was no longer the gentle and happy child he once knew, leaving him with a sense of nostalgia.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

"Cecily... Hera, you're all grown up." He stood up and walked toward her. He then noticed her bandaged left hand." What happened to your hand?"

Hera frowned a little. Lucius calling her "Hera" meant that he already knew that she was wrongly switched at birth. She was about to call him "Dad", but she changed her mind.

"Lucius, I'm fine. It's been a long time since I saw you. You know about that already?"

"Yes. It's been a long time since we saw each other." Lucius couldn't help but pat Hera on the head. His eyes were filled with adoration.

"Rhett told me about you being switched at birth the last time he came to visit me. He even took some of my blood for a paternity test."

"Yes, Giselle Everett is your and Daphne's actual daughter. But I'll always remember how you two raised me," Hera said.

"Your late mother would've been happy to know that," Lucius remarked in relief. "I'm also glad that you're here to

visit me. If possible, I hope that you'll always be our daughter."

In comparison to Giselle, whom he had never met before, Hera was far better. Lucius heard that Giselle did not want to acknowledge him as her father. However, Hera was doing all she could to clear his name.

Hera felt touched upon hearing Lucius consider her his daughter. She couldn't help but hug him. He was the one who loved her the most. He raised her when she was a child.

Although they spent very little time together, he had given her a proper childhood.

"You're all grown up now, yet you're still acting so spoiled." Lucius hugged her while gently patting her on the back. Although he sounded reproachful, his tone was filled with adoration.

"You must have suffered a lot without me by your side. I'm sorry for dragging you down."

Hera shook her head. "All that means nothing now that I can see you."

"You're so silly." Lucius used his index finger and gently scratched Hera's nose. He used to do that every time she made a mistake in her childhood.

After reminiscing about the past, Hera finally calmed down to talk about why she was here.

"Could you tell me about what happened to Greg that year?"

Hearing that made Lucius' expression darken. "You have to stop investigating."
