Unforgiven Sins

Cinyla’s POV

It was quiet and no one wanted to talk between the two of them. I feel that what Joshua said also made him think. It’s messy and as time goes on, many pieces of connection must be made. But, I didn’t understand what Joshua was saying yesterday.

Anyone can think and choose to find the truth about the past.

Sir BenChua just chose to let us rest today, he also tried to get all the gifts he had thrown away from his staff.

I am currently leaning on my large and wide bed. It is bright and airy throughout. I was in the other room, in unit D. Meanwhile, Joshua was in unit F. I slightly closed my eyes and looked up, letting out a deep sigh. Is what he says true? Is there a connection between Sir BenChua and me? Is Daddy still alive? If yes, who is the corpse in his grave?

I lay down my whole body and felt my soft bed. I looked at the white ceiling and slightly looked at the window. It was windy outside and the sun was shining. I would like to go out because I’m not familiar and maybe something else will happen to me and it will be even worse.

I took my small white bag from the right table and took my cell phone. “It’s only 10%, wait, I’ll charge it first so I can update Mommy later.”

I have already slapped my iPhone 11 on the outlet and then I chose to lie down on the bed again. It is soft and looks like a queen size bed because of its size.

I just looked around and felt a sense of peace when I saw the different floral design of the room I have now.

The flowers on its side are natural and real, different kinds that seem like when you love them, your thoughts or problems will disappear somehow. I smiled slightly, watching them closely. “I hope I’m just a flower, thinking nothing but staying on the side and just being beautiful.” I don’t know what I’m saying now, where it comes from.

I stood up and walked around the room, it would be a shame if I couldn’t explore my resting place because of our worries.

“You are really rich! At your young age, maybe it’s in your name. I can’t help but admire their wealth, I admit that apart from being blessed on the outside, their wealth is millions or maybe more.

I walked around and ended up in the mini living room. It’s not big, it’s not small, but it’s just right for two to three people.

Its designs are simple with a vintage-like style, the expensive vases and tables are perfect, and even here, the things to be placed have been thought of.

His taste is also really different. He is not only fond of expensive things but all kinds of equipment that he has here are original.

I stopped observing, took a deep breath, and talked to myself.

This time, I was thinking about something. Until someone rang the doorbell.

I stood up in no time and looked to see who it was.

“Sir, that’s you. What do we have?” I asked when I saw him outside the door.

“Come in,” I said and he also entered and immediately sat down on the nearby sofa.

“Can we talk? I know we are both curious right now. I don’t even know what’s going on and I’m even more confused because of what your friend says. Is he a detective?”

I thought about what he said, but I trust Joshua there is no reason for him to play with the two of us.

“Yes, he is a true detective. He is good and I know what he says is true and for a reason. But sir, even I was shocked by the last words he said. But if it’s true, I don’t know what to do next.” I explained and looked at the floor. I felt suddenly heavy with those thoughts, not because of the what-ifs but because I wasn’t ready yet. I also don’t understand what Joshua is saying that Daddy is still alive.

“I understand, Cinyla. I am sorry for asking you this matter. By the way, Joshua asked me to go home by Friday. He needs to finish something. I thought we were going home. Nothing is happening, we are just stuck here. I think it’s gone, we are safe. But I will double-check first, this time rest well.” He smiled and held my hand. At this point, I started to smile too. After a while, he let go of my hand.

“Thank you, sir.” He stepped out. “No worries, I want you safe. Dinner will be ready at 8 in the evening. I’ll just call you. I need to go now, Cinyla.”

I nodded and he left my room.

His presence is my safest place. I hope we don’t have a relationship, I hope Joshua is wrong.

It’s already 8 in the evening, and we are all here in the dining area. The table is wide and oblong in shape. The color of the tablecloth is black and white. There are also different types of food in front of us.

“Good evening! We can eat now. But let’s pray first. Let’s bow down our heads and close our eyes.” I bowed and obeyed his order. He is also God-fearing.

“Thank you O God for this food and thank you because we are safe. Always guide us and protect us. We are also full because of the many foods in front of us. Thank you, Lord. Everyone say, AMEN!”

“Amen!” Joshua and I answered at the same time. There are only three of us here in the dining area because he has already fed his bodyguards and angels. I can’t imagine he has that kind of mindset. While the two of them were eating, I was still looking around. I am so wondering what he shows before we eat.

“Go, eat your food now.” Sir BenChua looked at me as if he wanted me to eat, because he knew I was hungry for the food in front of us.

Instead of eating, I put down my spoon and fork. “Is there any problem, Cinyla? Didn’t you like the food served?” Sir BenChua asked so Joshua looked at me who was currently tasting the fried chicken in front of us.

“It’s not like that, I liked all of this. But are we the only ones to eat them?” I’m asking because I think the other dish might go to waste, especially since there are only three of us at the dining table.

“All of these foods are for us. Don’t worry about what I cook, their food is the same. They’re doing their job very well every day and they deserve the best.”

I was silent when he said, I didn’t think that a boss like this who is so rich has a good heart.

“Wow sir! So, are they lucky for you? It’s delicious, isn’t it? Maybe it will make me eat more.” Joshua took a lot of chicken and even though his mouth was full, he was full of words.

“I am blessed to have them. They are rare and faithful. Anyway, let’s eat.” I did eat and while sir was taking his food, a guard suddenly approached him.

It leaned over and whispered. “A book? Bring it to my office, Rey because we will finish our food first,” said sir simply, and the man named Rey nodded. He was wearing a white polo shirt and pants and he was tall.

“After taking our dinner, I need you both to go to my office. Someone bring a book.” Joshua and I stopped eating.

“What kind of book, sir?” I asked suddenly while looking at him.

“I don’t have any idea, we will see later. Besides that, we will also return to Manila on Saturday,” he added.

“Noted sir,” I continued my food again and Joshua nodded to him.

As I savored the afritada, I couldn’t forget the book he mentioned. What can it be? Is that connected to our personality or our past?

I am currently here in his office, I think I was first, wait, where are they?

“Finally you are here, where is your friend?” I heard a familiar voice and when I turned around I felt better.

“I thought he was already here, maybe next. Let’s just wait for him,” I said and sat in the left seat on the side. I swallowed when he came closer and faced me, then looked into my eyes.

“W-why s-sir?” What is he going to do?

He just fixed my hair and smiled.

“Nothing Cinyla.” It was a modest answer and suddenly approached my left ear.

“I miss you.”

I clung to my pants and tried to calm myself down.

Suddenly the door opened and I felt him leave.

“Have you been here before? Have you seen the book?” this question after another.

“I just arrived, Joshua. Not because we waited for you.”

He nodded and we both looked at the table as sir put down the book he was talking about earlier.

“This is the book that Rey received. I don’t understand why someone brought this here. I feel it’s just a wrong delivery but there is no other information inside.” Sir Ben Chua explained.

It was just a gray book, it was not thick but thin. He opened it and at the first page, I stood up out of curiosity.

“The first page is about greetings. It says here, Good day to the three of you! I watch all of your steps, the days are coming and both of you will be with me. I am excited to see you. I don’t want to scare you but it is happening. You will know and understand once I reveal it. Take care and remember that I am here and please, take control of your heart and do not cause any harm in the future. See you, both. From Unknown,”

Sir frowned and he moved to the next page. It was empty, so on the third shift I backed out. Joshua came closer and looked at it.

The content of the third page is a picture of me and Mommy, I felt pain and nervousness in my heart. What does this mean?

“What is this for? This is you Cinyla and aunt. How can he have a picture of the two of you?” I sat in my chair as if lost in myself.

“C-Cinyla, are you okay?” Joshua asked innocently.

“Stop asking, Joshua. He doesn’t know anything because he doesn’t know who gave it.” Sir came to me and held my hand. While Sir calmed me down, Joshua held the book and turned to the next page. On the fourth page, we didn’t expect that because it was taken by sir’s family. There were three of them, but his daddy’s face was removed from the picture.

“Sir BenChua, is this you and your Mommy?” I haven’t even seen it in full but I know it’s him because of the hairstyle and the whiteness of both of them.

“W-what! Yes, that picture is my family. This is not a good joke! This is too much. Who did this and how did he get our family picture and remove Daddy. He will be in hell!” Sir made a fist with his left hand and by his appearance now he is ready to fight.

But I thought about the book that Joshua is looking at now, what is it for? What’s the meat?

“It’s exhausting! Let’s rest for tonight. You’ll take care of that, Joshua in the book you’ve been looking at for a while.” Sir Ben Chua explained.

We’ve been talking to each other and the book that Joshua is holding is still a puzzle to me.

He left first and sir sent me to his bodyguard because he wanted me to get to my room safely.

I hope it’s over, I hope we can find out and recognize the person behind this nonsense.
