Chapter 35
Lemira's move was devastating.
She took out two opponents in one fell swoop and left another seriously injured. After landing, her gaze briefly met the bloody aftermath on the ground where Alaric lay defeated.
Alaric, fixated on the screen, was engulfed by a wave of shock and disbelief. He knew Lemira was talented, but he had no idea she was this formidable!
But wait, Lemira hadn't always been this strong. When had she powered up?
From the moment he was captured, Alaric had resigned himself to defeat. But then Lemira swooped in, her agility and keen sense of play stabilizing the team and even turning the tide with King's move - a twelve-hit combo!
Alaric realized he might never have truly known his sister. Lemira had become a stranger to him, igniting a fear of losing her that he couldn't quite explain. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
He hesitated before speaking, "You..."
But Lemira had already moved on, speaking over the headset, "Report the rest's location and status, I'll be right there."
Only Alaric was left on the spot, looking at merely a game character's cool retreating figure. Suddenly, he turned to cast a glance at Lemira who kept focusing on the computer screen, her state captivating.
Lucian uttered next to him, "Alaric, you zoned out there?"
Snapped back to reality, Alaric scrambled to catch up. Downstairs, Lemira was leading a fierce assault with the team members, her gameplay nothing short of top-level and spectacular compared to Evelina's clumsy efforts. This was the gunner he had envisioned! In the end, it was Lemira who clinched the victory.
Alaric was swamped with mixed emotions. The game he valued so much was won thanks to Lemira, the sister he had underestimated. He had never felt such feeling before, a psychological gap.
The game concluded swiftly, with Lemira, the gunner, standing at the deserted street and basking in the victory under the setting sun.
After a brief silence, the host announced, "It's decided, SkyBlaze wins, thanks to their substitute player's incredible performance. Could she be the King's protégé?"
The crowd erupted, some fans chanting for the King. Lemira was momentarily lost in thought while hearing the name, remembering it was someone who had taught her the twelve-hit combo, a man whose connection to the King she had always suspected but never confirmed.
Neither had she ever seen him.
King never revealed himself, and no one knew what he looked like.
Removing her headset, Lemira stood up to the sound of victory cheers, her smile signifying not just the win, but also the impending apology from their disrespectful opponent.
Lucian was the first to come to her, surprised, "Lemon, you were outstanding. We couldn't have won this game without you! I knew you were secretly practicing despite refusing to join the team, right?"
His joy was evident, relieved that Lemira hadn't changed. They were still family.
But Lemira's smile faded at his words; she felt a bit displeased. She turned to the IronVow team captain, "You lost!"
The captain looked at her with a complex gaze, "Who are you, exactly?"
Lucian proudly declared, "She's my sister."
"But wasn't Ms. Langston that terrible player from before? When did the Langston family get another Ms. Langston?"
Lucian's expression stiffened for a moment, "That was our adopted sister. This is our real sister."
"You guys really know how to play the game, sending a decoy 'sister' to throw us off and keeping your real secret weapon hidden. You caught us completely off guard."
