Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 137

Chapter 137 I’m Her Older Sister!

Maia had seen it all now. It was hilarious to know people this shameless did, in fact, exist.

“There are no mirrors in the world big enough to show you how thick—-skinned you are.” The

“Th middle-aged women weren't pleased with what she said.

“How rude! How dare you talk to us in that way? We're much older than you. Show us some respect!”

Mala crossed her arms and sneered, “What about all the noise you're making out here? Isn’t that rude too? Why do you deserve my respect just because you're older than me? My ancestors are way older than you. Are you going to pay your respects to them, then?”

They had nothing of value to say to her, so they raised their voices and hurled profanity at her.

“| demand to see that bitch now! What makes her think she could disrespect us just because she got rich?” “Who exactly are you? Who are you to speak on her behalf?”

“I'm her older sister! Is that good enough for you? Who are you guys to demand Hope to buy you houses?” The grit in Maia’s voice was unmistakable. She was so assertive that the middle—aged women faltered.

“| called the police. I’ve recorded everything that you've said and done with this little device. The way you harassed and the way you insulted Hope. Everything

Maia grinned as she continued. “I'll give this to the police if you don’t leave now. I’m the CEO of Starlight Entertainment. It'll take me less than a minute to make you guys regret everything.”

Maia had never liked throwing her weight around, and neither did she like revealing her identity to the public. However, desperate times called for desperate measures.

The middle-aged women’s faces soured and they left, resentfully. Buck finally managed to close the apartment door.

He let out a sigh of relief. “You’re good, Ms. Maia.” Buck wiped the sweat off his forehead and gave Maia a thumbs-up. “You handled them so well! You were able to intimidate them just like that.”

Maia said, “You can’t be soft with the likes of them. You can only overpower them if you’re more aggressive than them.” She had learned this lesson the hard

way. People were not going to be grateful just because you were kind, thoughtful, or generous.

“It's hard to imagine the kind of hardship Hope went through when she was young...” was disheartened. Maia teased him, “Yeah. And now you feel sorry for her.”

Buck

Buck blushed. “Come on, Ms. Maia! The soundproofing in this apartment isn’t exactly good. Hope might hear you!” Buck let out a sigh of relief when he was sure Hope hadn't come out of her room.

Maia covered her mouth and smiled quietly. Hope opened the bedroom door several seconds later. She was surprised to find the place quiet and the apartment door closed.

“D-Did they leave?” “Ms. Maia chased them away. You should've seen it, Hope. They practically ran with tails tucked between their legs!”

How did you do it, Maia?” Hope looked at her, impressed. “You’re awesome! | once needed an old knick—knack from my childhood days for one of my shows. | came back here to retrieve it. They caught me and wouldn't leave until | gave them three hundred dollars each.”

“Three hundred dollars each?” Maia asked. Hope nodded in reply. Maia poked at her forehead and said, “You're such a fool!”

“| didn’t have a choice. They made things difficult for me by standing in front of my car and lying on the ground. | was worried it might start a scandal if | involved the police. So, | had to

“They knew they could extort money from you. That’s why they came after you again this time.”

Buck agreed with Maia wholeheartedly, “Money isn’t the solution for everything. Some people are very greedy. It only takes one successful attempt for them to keep doing everything they can to extort you. You're too naive, Hope.”

“| don’t think I’m naive. | just wanted things to be amicable.”

“| used to be just like you. | tolerated a lot of stuff because | wanted to solve matters peacefully. The truth is, it never works. Only when you assert yourself will they leave you alone.”

Hope nodded, “I'll grow stronger. I'll take after you, Maia!”

“You don’t have to push yourself, Hope. Ms. Maia will protect you!“

“Buck will look after you too.” It sounded like Maia was making fun of them but it was true. Buck couldn't do anything to the middle-aged women earlier because of who they were.

They'd lie on the floor and extort him for money if he so much as touched them a little. So, he had no choice but to block off the entrance and hold them outside. Buck’s face turned red

again “Thank you, Maia!” Then, Hope looked at Buck and said, “Thank you, Buck!”

Buck started moving Hope's stuff out after they were done packing up. There were no elevators in the apartment due to the fact that it was located in an old neighborhood and built in the sixties.

Keep an eye out on the stuff, Ms. Maia, Hope. I'll go up and take the other boxes down.” There was no way he could let them carry the boxes. He was a man. This was his time to shine!

An Aston Martin pulled over. Maia frowned when she saw who came out of the car. She had not seen him for almost half a month now. Seeing him right before her now left her feeling a little

lost.
