Chapter 49 Revenge
Her words weren’t even out of her mouth when Elijah’s grip tightened!
In that moment, Elijah truly wanted to strangle her!
This woman only disgusted him!
She was not even worthy of him!
Freya felt a sharp pain. She couldn’t breathe again. Her chest heaved with difficulty. She spoke those shameless words just to make Elijah hate her, disgust her, and then let her go. But facing Elijah’s wounded gaze, she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
She slowly closed her eyes, her mind clear. She thought Elijah treated her a bit better because she lost the child. If he knew she was still pregnant, he would never accept her. Or worse, he might force her to get an abortion. When she lost her child, Elijah had said even without any accidents, he wouldn’t allow her to give birth. She couldn’t abandon her own flesh and blood for an unreliable man like Elijah. She wouldn’t let his small acts of kindness cloud her judgment.
“You… strangle… me…” She struggled to squeeze out a few words.
She felt the breath of death.
Elijah’s five fingers continued to tighten, red blood vessels gathering in the center of his eyes like a net. His anger was beyond words. This moment, he felt like killing her!
Fear of death flashed across Freya’s face.
Elijah’s thoughts snapped back.
Suddenly, he released his grip. His hand trembled slightly.
Did he almost lose control and strangle her? His inner turmoil was evident, but he forced himself to maintain composure. Pretending to be fierce, he said, “Strangling you would dirty my hands and my place.”
Freya, now able to breathe, opened her mouth wide, taking in large breaths of oxygen. As her heart and lungs bathed in the fresh air, she felt alive again. Her eyelashes were slightly moist. She surprised herself with the perfection of her act and couldn’t understand how Elijah had discovered her plan
“How… did you find out… I was planning to leave?” She tried hard to calm herself.
Elijah’s gaze, profound and cold, stared at her without uttering a word. He sensed that something was amiss from her overly obedient behavior.
This woman had claws. When things went unexpectedly smooth, there had to be something sinister. So, when he left the house, he specifically instructed the driver to keep an eye on her. Freya thought she was being sneaky, but the driver was secretly monitoring her!
Indeed, this woman had a heart of stone. She couldn’t see through his changes. She only thought about her back-door man.
“Freya, you won’t escape from the palm of my hand for the rest of your life! Want to find your lover? Dream on!”
He would never let her have what she wanted. Even if he sealed off his feelings for her, he wouldn’t set her free. He was determined to make her live a life worse than death.
“Freya, I will make you pay.”
With that, he stormed out, slamming the door with anger. The door echoed with a loud bang, and even the windows seemed to shudder in response.
Freya was left in shock. Her body trembled even more. She covered her abdomen with her hands, staring at the door for a long time. It turned out that she had been too accommodating, making him suspicious. She thought that by doing so, she could make him relax his guard. Unexpectedly, it backfired. It seemed that escaping from him in the future would be even more difficult for her.
Freya leaned against the headboard, turned her head to look out the window, tired and exhausted. Her eyes were slightly red, with a hint of moisture in her eye sockets. She gently caressed her belly and hoarsely said, “Baby, Mom loves you. Although you came unexpectedly, you are a part of my body. I will protect you and make sure you safely enter this world.”
…
Headence Group.
Elijah sat in front of a stack of files. He came directly to the company from the villa, trying to numb himself with work, to forget about Freya. But he couldn’t concentrate. His mood was inexplicably irritable since he couldn’t stop thinking about Freya. The more he thought about her, the angrier he became. He felt that because of her, he might have a short life.
That woman was infuriating!
He had never been so irritated, or so mentally confused because of a woman.
The office door suddenly knocked.
Elijah paused for a moment, then calmly resumed his usual demeanor and said, “Come in.”
The secretary walked in with files in her hands.
“Mr Silverton, I’ve found out the things you asked me to investigate.”
“Freya has resigned from the general hospital internship. The clothes she took with her were sent to the laundry by Linda in advance. It can be inferred that she had planned to run away.” The secretary spoke with lowered eyes.
Elijah was not surprised to hear this answer.
So, her obedience was just an act!
“Hmm,” he replied coldly, his usual tone.
“Xander’s injuries have improved a lot. He should be able to leave the hospital soon.”
“I know.” Elijah said.
The secretary looked at him, hesitated, and then said, “There’s something else?”
She actually wanted to say that Freya had been forced into this situation by Jack Silverton. If she wanted to run, let her go. However, she knew she couldn’t say that.
“There are two appointments this afternoon, one at three o’clock with the president of X bank for tea, and the other at eight o’clock with Mr Greyson for a meeting.” The secretary said.
Elijah nodded lightly. “Remind me when it’s time.”
“Sure.”
“If there’s nothing else, you can go out.” Elijah waved his hand.
The secretary left the office and closed the door. She stood at the door but did not leave, greedily looking inside, as if she could see the person inside through the door.
“What are you looking at?” A mocking voice came from behind her.
The secretary turned around and saw Liora. Her expression immediately cooled down. “What are you doing here? Mr Silverton won’t see you.”
Liora smiled, “Whether Elijah will see me or not is not for you to decide. Were you just standing at the door, or were you daydreaming?”
Maybe women understand women. The way the secretary looked just now. It made people wonder.
The secretary was very indifferent, “Not everyone is like you, using any means to achieve their goals. Fake pregnancy is something you can do. Now Mr Silverton only has disgust for you. Don’t make a fool of yourself, just leave.”
Liora was hit where it hurt, her face turning ugly. She spoke harshly, “You’re just a secretary, what qualifications do you have to challenge me? Even if he hates me now, I’ve been with him. What are you? Nothing.”
The secretary’s hand at her side turned into a fist! She wanted to retort but ultimately endured it. She told herself in her heart that she couldn’t let a woman like Liora ruin her self-esteem.
Elijah seemed to hear the sound outside the door. With a cold face, he opened the door. Seeing Liora, his gaze became even colder. “Did you allow her to come up?”
Saying that, he instructed the secretary, “Greet the front desk and security downstairs. When she comes in the future, don’t let her in.”Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
After speaking, he turned around. The secretary glanced at Liora and said, “Yes, I will instruct them immediately.”
Liora glared at the secretary. She quickly stopped Elijah, “Elijah…”
Elijah was disgusted by her calling him that. His eyes were cold as he stared at her, sharp enough to kill.
Liora, hurt by the merciless gaze, bit her lip in grievance.
“I’m sorry, I only called your name because I was in a hurry…” She quickly explained, “I came to tell you something important.”
Elijah’s expression remained cold, “There’s nothing left between us to talk about.”
“About the embryo organization, and its genetic connection with you?” Liora came prepared.
Elijah’s expression clearly paused.
Yes.
The DNA test result was indeed related to him.
“What do you want to say?”
“I want to tell you about the child.”
