Your Love Is My Weapon

Chapter 400

Chapter 400

Bridget glanced at him and went into the kitchen to make a fruit bowl.

Daisy sat opposite him. When he'd walked in and out the house behind Xavier in the past, she'd taken

him as a part of this family, someone so familiar that she'd never bother to pay much attention.

Daisy eyed him up and down. He had impressive features and an angular face contour.

Her gaze made Jacob's hair stand on end.

The atmosphere was so weird for him.

"You must be very tired recently. Please feel free to come by. You've worked for Xavier for so long and

I've long regarded you as a family."

"Okay…"

Jacob replied, not knowing where to look at.

"Well, there's something I need to deal with in the company. I..."

"Bridget, you're not done yet?" Daisy deliberately interrupted Jacob and urged Bridget.

In fact, the fruit bowl was long ready, but Bridget just stayed in the kitchen.

Daisy called her and she had to come out.

She put the bowl on the table and sat on the sofa with Jacob. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

Seeing them sitting together, Daisy found that Bridget and Jacob looked just right for each other.

Daisy pushed the fruit bowl toward Jacob. "Knock yourself out."

Bridget took out a piece of apple using a fork and handed it to Jacob. Jacob gave her a look and finally

understood why she had ridiculously proposed marriage to him.

It felt strange to be fixed up with her.

He chewed the apple and thought that it would kill him if this was what he would face in the Jones

Family after marrying Bridget.

"I'm going to check on Ramona. Bridget, keep Jacob entertained." Daisy excused herself to give them

some time alone.

When Daisy entered the room, Jacob suddenly slouched.

Bridget grinned. "Sorry to make you embarrassed."

Jacob scratched his head in irritation. "Don't tell me that will happen every time I come here."

Bridget sighed. "That's my everyday life. She keeps nagging me into going to the company to help my

sister-in-law," Bridget leaned over and whispered, "But actually she just wants me to spend more time

with you. She asked me to invite you to dinner yesterday. I got off saying that I had diarrhea. I'm under

much more pressure than you."

That was true. They lived together. Of course, Bridget was pestered every day.

Jacob realized that he was not the most suffered one.

"Go if you have work to do," Bridget said.

"But your mother..."

"You leave for work. She can say nothing about it." Bridget stood up. "I'll see you off."

Jacob rose and they walked out shoulder to shoulder.

"Your sister-in-law is not in good spirits these days." Jacob turned to Bridget. "I'm worried."

Bridget didn't notice that.

Arya spent a lot of time in the company, and after she came home, she stayed with Ryan and Ramona.

Bridget had noticed nothing unusual.

"Do you notice anything off?" Bridget asked uneasily.

Jacob thought about it carefully. Arya was fine except that she lost in thought a lot. Maybe it was all in

his mind.

"No. I was just saying. Anyway, spend more time with her and take her to have a walk outside," Jacob

advised.

Bridget nodded. "I know she's under a lot of pressure."

After Jacob left, Bridget returned to the house. Thinking of Jacob's words, she walked to the study and

knocked on the door.

No one answered. Bridget knocked again.

Someone answered this time. Bridget pushed the door open and walked in.

"Arya."

Arya stood up from her chair. "Is Ramona awake?"

Bridget shook her head and said, "No. I just want to have a chat with you."

Arya walked out. "Let's go to the backyard."

Bridget followed her out of the study. She made two cups of coffee in the living room and brought some

desserts before going to the backyard.

She put the things on the stone table and sat down. "Have you noticed that Mom's attitude to Jacob

has been very strange recently?" Her voice sounded casual.

Arya froze for a second. She thought of what Mr. Jones had said that day and looked down.

She struggled to tell Bridget for fear that it might give her too much pressure.

"I didn't add sugar in the coffee. Does it taste too bitter to you?" Bridget asked.

Arya lifted the cup and took a sip. She had no sense of taste so everything tasted the same for her.

"Not too bad," she commented languidly and looked up to see Bridget staring at her.

She touched her face. "Is there anything on my face?"

Bridget stood up and walked towards her. She reached out and brushed her fingers through Arya's hair.

She'd thought that she was mistaken but it was true that Arya had grey hair already.

She was in her twenties, so young but her ebony hair had actually turned grizzled now.

"Bridget, what are you doing?" Arya looked up at her in confusion.

Bridget shook her head. "Nothing. A leaf fell on your head. I removed it for you."

Bridget sat back, feeling even heavier.

She felt helpless.

She didn't know what she could do.

"Arya, I want to go to the company with you. I don't know how it works but you can teach me. When I

get the hang of it, things will be easier for you."

Arya looked up at her. "How come you want to work in the company all of a sudden?"

"Bearing all the burdens by yourself must be exhausting. I want to share them with you," she said,

although she was well aware that Arya didn't get grey hair due to the company but due to Xavier.

"I have Jacob to help me. I'm not exhausted," Arya said without enthusiasm, her face expressionless. It

was as if she was a soulless puppet.

When Mr. Jones had told her that he wanted her to marry Jacob, it'd sounded reasonable to her and

that was all.

But those words hadn't fully sunk in until now

What if Xavier never came back?

Arya would crack up if all the burdens rested on her shoulders.

The best and only solution was to make Jacob part of the Jones Family.

Bridget made up her mind.

W City was in quiet turmoil.

As Jacob had guessed, after Liam had lost the support of the Gates Family, he'd had no goods coming

in for months. He was anxious.

So he asked the WS Group to receive the goods.

The WS Group was experienced and mature in export trade and got all the required certificates for

exportation.

Jacob received the goods with his men and didn't detect any violation.

Arya stood in the cabin and looked at the boxes of fruits from abroad. "The same kinds?"

Liam's men hadn't arrived yet. Jacob opened one box. "The same as the last time."

They were all expensive fruits that were rare in the country.

But one kind of fruit drew his attention, avocado.

It was common in the country, which made it a misfit among other rare fruits.

"What do you suspect?" Arya perceived doubt in Jacob's face.

Jacob couldn't tell what was wrong with those avocados. They looked perfectly normal.

Time was pressing. Liam's men would soon arrive. Arya asked Jacob to replace one box of avocados

with other fruits.

Soon, two bodyguards came with a group of workers. They carefully counted the goods before carrying

them into their cars.

After Liam's men left, Arya asked Jacob to bring the avocados back to the company...
