” Layla… ” Mirah called but was cut short by Layla. ” I can’t agree to this, so don’t try to make me ” She said and with that, walked away into their room. Mirah sighed as she sat back on the couch, leaning her back on the couch.

She was tired, she knew her friend wouldn’t admit her feelings and she’s really trying her best to make her see the truth, but it seems she’s really firm on her decision. She’d better give up. If they’re meant to be, they will. But now, she’s unconcerned about the matter. She’s backing out.

** Shane’s Apartment **

” So you got rejected? ” Alec asked, stating the obvious immediately he sighted Shane coming in with a moody look. ” Well… Yeah I got rejected ” Shane replied with a shrug as he landed his butt on the couch.

” What did she really say? ”

” Not much. She said she has no sort of feelings for me and she thinks it ain’t right for a thing to happen between us ’cause I have a wife. But I ain’t giving up anyways ” Shane replied with a huff and Alec nodded. ” Yeah, that’s the spirit ” Alec said supportively.

” Why do I feel like she’s trying to deny it tho? ” Shane suddenly said and Alec raised his brows. ” You think so too? ” Alec asked and Shane nodded. ” Yeah, her expression said it all. She had a shock and suprised look on but at the same time, I couldn’t help but notice the gladness that hid in between that shocked face of hers ” Shane stated and Alec nodded thoughtfully.

” It might be that she also feels the same way you do, but she’s considering the circumstances surrounding you two. The differences too – She’s worried ” Alec explained. ” But I could make her understand right?, Assure her that everything will be fine? ” Shane asked and Alec nodded. ” Yeah you could do that. Just try so hard to win her heart and make her trust you ” Alec added and Shane nodded, listening attentively.

” And you also need to learn some few tips on how to win a lady over. That could help too ” Alec suggested and that earned a groan from Shane’s mouth. ” Is that really necessary? ” He asked and Alec scoffed.

” Yeah it is. Try to win her over or you might lose her ” He said with an authoritative tone and that snapped Shane back to his senses. ” Yeah, I will definitely try that. I can’t lose her ” He muttered and Alec flashed him a smile.

” Have you spoken to your mom eversince then? ” Alec asked and Shane shook his head. ” No, I think she’s still angry, you know … about our previous conversation ” Shane trailed off and Alec nodded. ” Yeah, about divorcing Brielle right? ” Alec asked, stating the obvious.

” Yes.. that ” He muttered and almost immediately his phone let out a ring. He looked at the identity of the caller and let out a silent sigh. ” It’s mom ” Shane muttered and Alec gave him a go ahead to pick while he walked away to the stairs, headed to Shane’s suite.

Shane clicked on the green button and his mom’s voice rang in his ears. ” Son ” She called in a low voice. ” Mom, are you okay? ” Shane asked worriedly. ” No, I’m not ” Mrs Kent said firmly. ” How can I be okay when my son refused to pick my calls for weeks! Huh? Tell me how!? ” Mrs Kent shouted almost angrily. Shane let out a sigh.

” I’m sorry mom, I only wanted to clear some things off my head and settle things. I really didn’t mean to ignore your calls ” Shane apologized. Her mom let out a huff. ” You still haven’t divorced Brielle? ” Her mom asked softly.

” No mom, I haven’t and I can’t just… ”

” Cut the crap son! ” Mrs Kent snapped at her son. ” You’re gon’ divorce her as per my wish! I can’t watch my son remain childless forever! Who knows if Brielle is ever going to return and you .. you’re just gon’ remain a married bachelor for the rest of your life! Huh? ” Mrs Kent said angrily. She was angry for the fact that her son refused to see the truth and listen to her.

” Mom, what assurance do you have that she ain’t coming back! We don’t even know what’s wrong! What if… ”

” Shane!!! ” Mrs Kent shouted angrily, cutting him off. ” I can’t really believe this is Shane speaking right now! Brielle left you alone.. she left you to keep battling with the wedding, she didn’t care. She went against the contract! I really think it’s time we cut off the marriage contract ” Mrs Kent reminded him.

” Mom… ”

” Alec told me about the girl ” Her mom cut in instead. Shane’s brows creased slightly. ” Girl? ” Shane asked unsure of whom that was. ” Yeah, Brielle’s replacement. Layla ” Mrs Kent said and Shane was almost suprised. She knows Layla’s name.

” Alec told me you confirmed having feelings for her ” Mrs Kent said and Shane groaned inwardly. ” Fvck Alec ” He muttered inaudibly.

” Shane! ” Mrs Kent’s voice snapped him back to reality. ” Yes mom ” He found himself saying.

” So, you told her about it? And what was her reply? ” Mrs Kent asked, cooling off already. Her voice was back to the soft one.

” Yeah I told her but I got rejected instead ” Shane said and Mrs Kent gasped out loudly. ” What the!!!? She rejected you? Why!? I thought Alec said she practically feels the same way!? ” Mrs Kent asked surprisingly. ” I guess we guessed wrong then ” Shane muttered to her mom’s hearing.

” So why do you think she rejected you? ” Mrs Kent asked. She feels there might be a reason for that. Shane let out a little scoff. ” What else? It’s cause of one fact. I’m married. She wouldn’t wanna be a concubine ” Shane stated and Mrs Kent scoffed out loud.

” And that’s one more fvcking reason why you should divorce Brielle. She doesn’t care and now she’s serving as a hindrance to your new upcoming relationship. What the hell is that? ” Mrs Kent asked annoyingly.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

” Mom, I really think there’s gon’ be a way. It doesn’t really require me divorcing my wife ” Shane said and almost regretted saying that last word. ” Oh great. You still regard that witch as your wife!!! Huh?? I really see why Layla had rejected you. You aren’t ready to let go of Brielle for her ” Mrs Kent said. Shane let out a sigh, more of a tired one.

” Mom, it’s not that ” He tried to oppose. ” Then what? ” Mrs Kent snapped. ” That you’re still in love with your runaway wife!? ” She asked and Shane suddenly went mute. He understands his feelings clearly. His heart isn’t beating for Brielle anymore. It beats for Layla now. But still, Brielle’s still his wife.

He doesn’t really want to divorce her in absence. He wants them to see each other and then talk. He wants to know whatever reason she had that made her leave him hanging. He really wants to know whatever excuses she had in stock before cancelling the contract. It would be bad to cancel the contract in her absence, but it seems his mom and Alec aren’t really ready to understand that.

But is his mom right? Did Layla reject him cause he hadn’t divorced Brielle?

But then he remembered that he shouldn’t really listen to his mom’s words. She was probably annoyed at the fact that Brielle had left without a word.

He’s also annoyed maybe more annoyed than his mom is. Brielle almost made him a laughing stock but he was able to overcome it all thanks to Layla. He wanted to see her so badly and demand for her useless reasons. He wanted to let her know the state of dilemma she had put him in. The state of confusion and frustration she had caused upon him. He wanted to tell her all that. He wanted to show and tell her how hurt he was when he found out his fiancee had left, she had become a runaway bride. He wanted her to be aware of all these. So he definitely can’t cancel the contract now. But no doubt he’s in love with Layla now.

” So you’re still going to stick with Brielle after all that much thinking? ” His mom caught his thinking short. ” Mom… ” He tried to call.

” Brielle doesn’t deserve you anymore, all she had caused to you is pain. You should know and understand her ” Mrs Kent said like those were her final words.

” Mom I know. I just have other plans in mind ” Shane told his mom. ” Really? Or you just can’t find yourself leaving her? You’re confused on what to do or on whom to choose? You’re confused if really you’re in love with Layla now and not Brielle anymore. You don’t know if leaving Brielle would do you any good cause a part of you still thinks you love her? ” His mom rushed him with all these enormous questions and that completely led him into a state of confusion.

He was suddenly confused. What was she saying?

” Brielle or Layla? Choose one now ” Mrs Kent suddenly said.
