” I’m sorry ” He said again. ” I’m sorry for delaying you. We suddenly got a message about an urgent meeting with our neighbouring company and we had to rush there. I didn’t know we were going to stay for so long there, I would have asked you not to come again today. I’m sorry ” He explained and shocked Layla could only nod, she was suddenly short of words.

Shane broke the hug and stared into her eyes, she tried her possible best not to look nervous in front of him. His stares were making her lose herself.

” So, will you please wait? ” He asked more like a plead. Layla nodded slowly and he let out a little smile.

” Claus! ” Shane shouted and almost immediately Claus rushed in. It seems he had been waiting outside patiently for Shane’s call.

” You can take it from here now. Show her the office she would be sharing with Tina and inform her about her duties ” He instructed Claus. Claus nodded attentively and Shane turned to Layla.

” He would direct you on what to do. If you have any questions, please ask him or Tina, they would try their possible best to answer ” He said, like a boss would say to his worker. Layla nodded respectfully and he let out a smile. He moved closer to her and pat her head gently.

” If you need anything? You can come to me ” He said, retaining that caring look of his and Layla nodded again.

” Alright then, I’m handing her over to you ” Shane turned to Claus with a warning glare, the glare meaning that he should take good care of her.

” Trust me sire ” Claus said in a joking manner and Shane scoffed.

” This way miss ” Claus said like a gentleman and Layla walked in front while he followed behind.

They were finally out of Shane’s office. He heaved a sigh of relief, he’s glad she didn’t leave. He would find another way to apologize to her properly for his silly mistake. He can’t lose her.

Seeing that she really came is giving him enough joy that he had imagined. At least now, he would get to be seeing her frequently. She’s under his hold now. He smiled sheepishly as he made his way to his seat. He sat down and a smile played on his lips again.

Words can’t describe the happiness he’s obviously feeling at that moment. He’s one step closer to getting her. All he has to do now is try to win her over, try to make her fall for him. He really can’t wait for that to happen. He can’t wait for them to become a thing. He’s falling so hard for her everyday and every moment.

His head are filled of her thoughts. She’s all that fills his heart. There’s definitely no space for no other girl apart from Layla again.

He chuckled at his embarrassing thoughts. He had a wife but here he is, falling so hard for his replacement bride. Who could have ever thought this could happen? There would be a day when he would be tripping for his replacement bride.

*** Shane’s Office ***

Shane let out a shrug as he heard a knock at his door. He had been working ever since he arrived at his office and it doesn’t seem like he’s stopping anytime soon. He had a enormous work at to do at hand. He’s getting fed up already.

He would have loved to take a break but he thought he might be too lazy to come back to the work.

” Claus, can you come back later? I’m really busy now ” He said without looking up from the file in his front and without asking who the person by the door was.

” It’s Layla ” He heard her sweet, tiny and angelic voice. His heart raced rapidly just hearing her voice and the name * Layla *.

He dropped the file he was holding abruptly and raised his head, boring his eyes at the door. ” Come in ” He said at once and almost immediately, the door opened.

And there she was,, Layla walked in with some files on her hands. Shane would have grumbled at the sight of the numerous files Layla was bringing to him but surprisingly he didn’t. Probably cause his attention wasn’t focused on the files, it was focused on something else, on someone else… Layla.

” Here.. ” Layla paused briefly, dropping the files on Shane’s desk. ” Tina asked me to bring this to you ” She rang in Shane’s voice melodiously.

Shane was lost staring at her, he couldn’t hear a thing she had just said. All he was seeing at that moment was her and her only.

” Sire… ” She called, calling his attention to her but she couldn’t divert his attention.

” Sire.. ” She called again.

” Shane! ” She suddenly blurted out and Shane snapped out of his thoughts and raised his brows abruptly, suprised a bit. Layla bit her lips slowly when she saw his expression.

” Sorry I called you that… I was just trying to snap you out of your thoughts, you suddenly paced off ” She muttered slowly, fondling with her fingers.

Shane almost chuckled at how cute she looked at the moment but he took it in. ” Why are you here? ” He asked instead in a gentle voice. ” This.. ” Layla pointed at the files she had dropped on Shane’s table.

” Tina asked me to bring them to you ” She said and Shane raised his brows. ” Tina? ”

” Oh.. sorry, she asked me to call her that ” Layla muttered, biting her lips again and seducing Shane without knowing.

He had to look away and he cleared his throat. ” You can leave then, but tell her I won’t be able to take care of them now. I would send them to her tomorrow ” He said and Layla nodded attentively.

” You can leave then ” He completed, taking his eyes off her and back to the files. Layla accessed the numerous files in front of him that he would be tending to and she bit her lips. ” Isn’t this too much for you? ” She was forced to ask.

Shane raised his head, a little bit suprised. He wasn’t expecting her to care. ” Um, yeah it is,, but I have to tend to them before the end of today ” He replied her. ” Oh… But you should take some rest, you know? ” She advised and he raised his brows.

” You seem to care too much about me? ” He teased and she let out an unbelievably scoff. ” What? In your dreams ” She muttered and Shane laughed lightly.

” Since you don’t then,, you can leave while I continue with them ” He said and Layla nodded. ” Yeah, bye. ” She muttered and Shane also nodded.

Shane watched as she walked over to the door. She suddenly stopped. She turned back to meet Shane’s gaze on her. ” You should get some rest… please ” She said and the last word came as a shock to Shane.

She was out already before he could regain his consciousness. ” She said please? ” Shane muttered unbelievably and then bit his lips slowly.

*** Kent’s Enterprise ***

It was evening already and it was time for Layla to leave for home. She knocked gently at Shane’s door but got no response. ” Sire… ” She called a bit loudly, knocking at the door but got no response again.

She gently twisted the door open and her eyes met with the loveliest scene ever. Shane was sleeping on his desk peacefully and cutely. Layla didn’t know when her lips formed a smile. She closed the door gently behind her and began heading over to him.

She got to him and pulled a chair next to him and sat down properly, she placed her head on the desk like he had did in his sleeping position, her gaze focused on his sleeping face. He looked so cool and calm just like he had always looked to her.

His small pinky lips formed a pout which also formed an O shape. It looked funny and Layla couldn’t help but chuckle out loudly. She suddenly covered her mouth with her palm. ” What it he had heard me and caught me staring at him? Gosh Layla! ” She cautioned herself.

She knows she’s probably not in her right mind at that moment. What if someone enters and met them at tht position? They would think about it as something else. Why was she stroking his hair anyways?

She removed her hands abruptly and the strands fell on his face. She got up from the seat and arranged her dress very well. She turned to leave but a strong hold suddenly pushed her back to her seat and their face almost slammed on each other and they were both staring at each other.

” Sh.. Shane? ” She called unbelievably. He was wide awake and was staring at her the same way she was.
