Chapter 63

” Goodnight ” Shane said to Layla as he dropped her off. They had gone on a night date. ” Bye ” Layla waved as she alighted for his car and watched as Shane drove off. She smiled lightly before walking in into their apartment.

Shane got home and was suprised to see Brielle dozing off on the couch, she was waiting for her husband’s arrival.

” Why would she wait when it’s this late? ” Shane thought silently as he glanced at his watch. The time was 10pm. Then he remembered he had promised to sort things out with her today.

He made up his mind to settle things amicably. He can’t just let go of her, since they were good before she suddenly left and since it’s for a good reason, it would be absurd for him to suddenly file out a divorce. He had no choice than to accept his wife. He would still work out things tho, but not now.

He let out a sigh before walking over to her. He tapped her gently. ” Hey ” He called softly as she opened her eyes slowly.

” Hey, you’re back ” She muttered sleepily and Shane nodded. ” Yeah, you should go sleep inside ” He urged but she shook her head and sat properly.

” You said we were going to talk things out, let’s do it now ” She said and Shane nodded. He sat down next to her and faced her.

” You know you weren’t really right? Right? ” He asked and she nodded slowly.

” You could have told me about your family issues and I could have helped if I really could in which I’m sure I would have been of great help. You just suddenly left, leaving me in a miserable state. I almost lost my mind as I couldn’t think properly, I tried to understand or think if I did a thing wrong to you that could have made you leave but I saw none. I was in real distress that I had to get a substitute bride. You are aware right? ” He asked and she nodded again.

” She had to play your role as the bride and I had the wedding done all by myself without suspicions from people. After the wedding, I tried to get across to you.. to know what was wrong, if I did a thing wrong or if it was just a decision to ignore the wedding contract but all to no avail until I suddenly saw this interview you attended and I understood you were fine, you just decided to.. ”

” No, I wasn’t okay. It was just a cover up ” Brielle shook her head immediately. ” I swear I really didn’t ignore the wedding contract cause I wanted to. I just thought I would be able to wrap up things easily and fastly and without bothering you for help and I would come back for the contract. I swear that was what I planned but sadly things didn’t go as planned. I’m really sorry ” She muttered guiltily.

Shane let out a sigh before looking straight into her eyes. She still had that same look she had always looked at him with. That look filled with affection and love but if only she could read his eyes as she read is, she would see that it was void, void of emotions. He no longer felt a thing for her anymore but he still cared about her feelings, he wouldn’t want to hurt her. She was still his wife.

” You wouldn’t let go of me right? ” Brielle asked, staring at him with hope. ” We should go to sleep ” Shane said, ignoring her question. He stood up and turned to leave, Brielle did the same.

” You still love me right? ” She suddenly asked and Shane stopped on his tracks. She smiled sadly. ” I really hope you still do ” She muttered and walked past him, away to the stairs.

Shane let out a sigh before hurrying after her. She was still on the stairs when he lifted her off the floor. She was more than shocked. ” Shane.. ” She called surprisingly but he ignored her and carrying her in his arms, he headed towards his suite. He entered his room and dropped her on his bed.

” You should sleep now ” He said and took off his shirt before heading inside the bathroom to have his bath.

Brielle smiled widely and hugged the pillow to herself tightly.

** Next Morning **

” Morning ” Shane greeted Brielle as he walked down the stairs, already dressed for work. ” Morning ” Brielle replied with a big smile, coming out of the kitchen as she wiped her hands with a towel.

” Bye ” Shane said as he headed towards the entrance door. ” What? ” Brielle rushed over to him, making him stop. He looked at her with a raised brow.

” I cooked your breakfast myself, you just please eat ” She said more like a plead. ” I really have something important to attend to at work. I will eat it when I’m back okay? ” Shane said and she shook her head. ” Even if it’s just a bite. Please ” She begged and Shane sighed.

” I’m sorry, not now ” He said and she sighed sadly. ” Okay then, bye ” She muttered and turned away from him. Shane made to walk away but then stopped.

He walked over to her and held her hand. ” Would you pack it in a box for me then. I will eat it at work ” She said and he nodded hurriedly. She rushed away happily and quickly packed the food in a small box.

She handed it over to him with a smile. Shane let out a slight smile before walking out of the mansion.

He entered into his car and his driver drove off.

** Maynard’s Enterprise **

Mirah let out a smile as she held the box carefully. She opened the door slowly and entered with the box on her hand.

” Hey ” Bryan said with a smile as he saw her. She also returned the smile. ” Morning ” She muttered as she finally got to him. She dropped the box on his table and he raised his brows.

” What’s this? ” Bryan asked, referring to the box. ” It’s a box containing some snacks. I made them for you early this morning ” She said with a smile and Bryan’s lips twisted into a smile.

” Really? You made them for me? ” He asked excitedly and she nodded. He unwrapped the box and his lips widened the more into a big smile.

” Wow, you made cookies ” He said excitedly and she nodded. ” How did you know I love cookies? ” He asked, putting one into his mouth and chewing it slowly. ” I just know ” She replied, studying his expression to see if he was enjoying it.

Bryan’s eyes widened in suprise and she raised her brows to understand what he meant by that look. ” Hmm.. gosh it’s so delicious and tasty ” He finally said and she smiled out widely. ” Thanks ” She mumbled, as she tucked some strands of hair behind her ear shyly.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.

” They’re really delicious… just like you ” He whispered the last part and her cheeks heated up as she reminisced on their previous night. Bryan let out a knowing smile when he saw her heated face. ” Come here baby ” He said and hugged her to himself.

It’s her second day at work and Bryan had announced to every worker that she’s his girlfriend and they should treat her with respect. Tho Mirah had tried to stop him from making the announcement but he insisted.

** Shane’s Office **

Layla walked in with some files in her hand, she was looking all tired and stressed out. Seems she’s been working really hard. ” Here are the files sir ” She said as she dropped it on his table, she was still active but one could notice she had a weary look on.

Shane wasn’t looking up so he didn’t notice. He was also really busy. ” Alright, I will attend to them later ” Shane said as he finished taking glances at each files she had brought.

” Alright then ” Layla muttered. ” Have you eaten lunch? ” Shane asked, his eyes still on the files. ” No, I was thinking of completing.. ”

” You should go have your lunch now, you would do them later, okay? ” He said finally looking up and noticing her weary look.

” It looks like you’ve been working so hard. You should go eat ” He said, touching her face slowly. He withdraw his hands and Layla nodded.

” Okay then. Perhaps, do you want us to have lunch together? ” She asked and Shane looked up at her. ” I mean.. we could eat it here together? ” She said but Shane shook his head.

” I would have loved to, but no. I’m a bit busy and moreover Brielle prepared something for me in the morning and I haven’t eaten it yet, I should… ” He stopped when he noticed Layla’s look, then he realized what he had just said.
