I took a deep breath just like Lisa said on the phone, but I notice how fast my heart is beating.

“Bella, you got this, you never broke the rules of a maid, so maybe she wants to talk about work and how I am coping; she is a human and a mother too; she can’t hurt me. I will go now.” I looked into the mirror to encourage myself and stepped out of the room.

I noticed how some of the maids looked at me like I killed someone in the house, but I ignored it; I entered the car she sent to pick me from her home.

I kept wishing I have a remote to fast forward the whole thing about to take place.

We arrived at a restaurant; it took me seconds to finally take a bold step to walk in; there she is, already eating.

I walked in her direction and extended greetings with her which she responded coldly.

I remain standing, remembering what Brenda told me, “Bella, when you get there, do not sit or do anything until she orders you to do so; you don’t want her wrath.”

I just kept looking, not knowing what else to do; she ignored me totally like I was not present with her, my legs were aching, but I have to remain standing.

“Have your seat!” She said, and I thanked her; now I can feel my legs.

“Brenda told me how hard working you are, I love the remarks.”

“Thanks ma.” This can’t be it, she didn’t call me here to give me some accolade.

“Why would you go drinking without me dressed that way?”
