Chapter 789
Chapter 789
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
“Excuse me, is someone in there?”
Caroline glanced at the door and caught a glimpse of the pair of shoes under the door.
“Yeah.”
“You’re Ms. Evans, right? Your fiancé said that you’ve been in here for quite some time already. He asked
me to check if you’re okay,” the woman said.
“Are you okay? Do you need help?”
Caroline didn’t respond. Gwen heard the woman’s voice on the phone and smiled helplessly. “You should
head back.”
“I know,” said Caroline.
“Just remember what I told you. Don’t think about anything else, okay?”
“Okay,” Caroline replied, her tone meek.
After hanging up, she opened the door to see a kind-looking old lady standing by the door.
“Hello.” The lady greeted Caroline with a smile.
Caroline greeted the lady out of common courtesy. She hasn’t expected this to be the start of a very long conversation with the lady, who couldn’t stop complimenting Eddy as she grabbed Caroline’s arm and led
her out of the washroom. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
“It’s my first time seeing such a young man care so much for his fiancée,” said the lady.
“You didn’t see how impatient he was when he stood by the door yet couldn’t come in here just now.
“Youngsters these days are totally different now.” The lady sighed. “How interesting.”
Caroline tossed her a smile as the lady carried on talking. “Your fiancé doesn’t seem like the expressive
type, right?”
Caroline raised her eyes to look at the lady, who smiled and chuckled.
“Don’t look at me like that. I’ve been through more than you could ever imagine, so I’m usually right when
it comes to people.”
“Your fiancé seems like the person who would keep an eye out for you all the time despite being a man of
few words.”
She then added, “You’re lucky to have him.”
“Really?” Caroline lowered head. She disagreed with the lady.
Caroline’s gut told her that Eddy wasn’t the kind of person the lady had just described. Besides, she had seen what people who gave silently were truly like.
It sounded like she was roasting the lady when that thought occurred to her. All of a sudden, the silhouette of a person flashed through her mind.
“Oh my! Did I make you upset?” the lady asked when she noticed that Caroline had been quiet for some
time.
“I should have held my tongue.’

Caroline shook her head. “No, you didn’t. Thank you for telling me all of this.”
After making sure that Caroline wasn’t displeased, the lady beamed. “Thank goodness! You should go out
and meet your fiancé. He’s getting anxious.”
“Okay.” Caroline nodded and left the washroom.
She saw Eddy standing by the door, waiting for her. The lady had said lots of nice things about Eddy just
now.
But when Caroline saw him at this very moment, memories of the past came flowing back to her like
water from a bursting dam.
She remembered the time she had prepared some broth for Eddy and how she had waited patiently for hours just so that the broth would taste better. She also remembered how he had knocked over the bowl
of broth that she had even placed before him.
There were also the times when he had thrown away all the gifts she had specially prepared for him for
his birthday.
Was he truly just incapable of expressing himself?
Caroline approached him, her mind bursting at its seams with questions.
“Are you okay? You were gone for quite some time,” Eddy asked in concern.
