Chapter 790
Chapter 790
The concern in Eddy’s eyes tugged at Caroline’s heartstrings, and she said, “I’m fine. Let’s go.”
“Okay.” Eddy reached out to hold her hand, but she dodged him as if it came naturally to her.
“About the old lady just now …” she stared.
“Oh. I waited for you for some time outside, but you didn’t come out,” he explained.
“So I asked her to go in and check on you. What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. She told me lots of nice things about you, so much so that I thought you had paid her to do it.”
The smile on Eddy’s face faltered. Stunned, he stared at Caroline until she turned around to face him,
puzzled.
Only then did he snap out of his daze and hasten his footsteps to catch up with her.
“What did she say?”
“Nothing much.”
Caroline didn’t feel like bringing up the topic. “I’m tired, Eddy.”
“Okay. We’ll talk about the details of the wedding tomorrow then.
“The wedding? So soon?” Caroline stopped abruptly in her tracks. She had thought that the wedding
would happen only after a month or so.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
“Is it too soon?” Eddy looked at her with a soft smile.
“I don’t think it’s happening soon enough. I wish we could just get married tomorrow.”
Caroline forced a smile. She didn’t reply.
They both were silent on the way back home. When they reached, Caroline headed straight to her room.
Eddy’s eyes darkened as he watched her enter the room. Although his marriage proposal had been a
success, he couldn’t help but feel anxious about it.
The only thing that could ease his mind now was registering their marriage so that things could be set in
stone.
It was fortunate enough that Kirk had used a fake identity when he had married Caroline back then. So it
wouldn’t be much of a problem for Eddy to get rid of the false information in the marriage registry.
When this thought occurred to him, Eddy wasted no time asking Simon to have someone get rid of Caroline and Kirk’s marriage records.
Caroline took her phone out once she got back to her room. The first thing she wanted to do was to call
Mr. Y.
Since her efforts to get back her memories from Gwen’s side failed, Caroline thought she could give it a
try from Mr. Y’s side.
Her gut told her that he would satisfy her request.
Unfortunately, he didn’t answer her call. Overwhelmed with anxiety, she could only grip her phone and crawl under her blankets for some sense of comfort.
She called him again and again, yet all her calls went unanswered.
The reason behind this was simple. Kirk was locked in a boxing match with Jack in the latter’s gym.
Jack was reluctant to give it his all, of course. After all, Kirk was his employer. Despite this, Jack had to do his best because he would suffer a horrible fate if he didn’t.
“Just let him vent,” Sean told Jack.
“If he doesn’t get his fill of fighting, he would run off to somewhere else to vent anyway.”
Jack blocked Kirk’s strike as he said, “But, Sean, I can’t be the only one bearing the brunt of it.”
Sean smirked. “I would’ve gone against Kirk if I knew how to fight.”
He had barely finished his sentence when Kirk stopped attacking and tossed him a pair of boxing gloves.
“You,” said Kirk between breaths.
“Come up here.”
Sean stared wide-eyed at the pair of gloves on the ground.
He trembled ever so slightly when he said, “N-No way. I know nothing about boxing.”
Jack chuckled now that he could finally take a breather. “I’ll leave it to you then, Dr. Yates.” He leaped off
the boxing ring right after that.
Sean then turned to stare at Jack, horror-stricken. “Jack, I really can’t-”
However, Jack seized that chance to repeat Sean’s words earlier, “Just let him vent. If he doesn’t get his fill of fighting, he would just run off somewhere else to vent.”
Sean was speechless. Just then, Kirk, his eyes bloodshot, raised a fist and aimed it right at Sean’s face.
Sean paled instantly. His eyes closed instinctively as he yelled, “My face!”
