Found Again

“What are you going to do now? Are you going to fire me now that you know my past?” Anne looks anxious.

I had never seen her like this before. Anne is a very strong woman. Even the time when she was rejected by Lieo, she was able to manage it well.

“You should join us and we’ll make sure that you will have the best time of your life tonight.”

I shook my head. It looks like those scumbags have a new victim.

“Do I look like I need a company?”

My forehead creased from that voice. Her voice sounds familiar. I turn my head to confirm my suspicion. My eyes widen a fraction when I saw Anne having arguments with the three scumbags.

I don’t normally meddle with these things but a friend of mine is involved. I walk in their direction to save my friend.

“Anne!” I called her.

I saw the relief in her eyes. She waved at me. “Andrew!”

“Who are you?” One of the scumbags asked.

I ignore him and look at Anne to see if she was fine. “Are you okay?”

She nodded and smile.

“You dare to ignore me?! Don’t you know who I am?!”

“Do I need to know who you are?” I asked in an equally arrogant voice.

The guy looks pissed and was about to punch me when Anne stop him.

“He’s my boyfriend. Is that answer enough? Can you leave us alone now?!” Anne said.

I frowned. Why did she introduce me as his boyfriend? What if Alli heard of it?! Oh no! This can’t be. I need to correct it.

“Your boyfriend looks hesitant. Are you sure he is your boyfriend? How can we believe you?” The other guy said.

I was about to correct Anne’s claim but Anne turn to me and kissed me. I was frozen at the moment. IT took me seconds before I was able to push Anne.

Then Anne looks at the scumbags with a smirk on her face. “Is that proof enough? Can you guys leave us alone?!”

The scumbags have no choice but to return to their table looking pissed.

“Why did you do that?” I asked Anne.

“I’m sorry Andrew. It’s the fastest solution for those jerks to leave us alone.” Anne answered.

“You don’t need to do that. I know the owner of this bar. I can make them blocked listed in this bar if I want to.” I said.

Anne bit her lips and lower her head. “I’m sorry Andrew. I didn’t know that.”

I sighed and decided to just let this go. “Fine. It was done so we can’t do anything about it. But don’t do it next time. I don’t want Alli to hear that this happened. But why are you here?”

I saw Anne get teary-eyed. I guess this will take some time. I invite her to my table to listen to whatever problem she has right now.

“I got rejected today.”

My eyes widen a fraction from her revelation. “Don’t tell me you confessed to Lieo?” I asked still shocked.

She smiles bitterly while quickly wiping her tears. “Yes. I finally got the courage but I was rejected.”

“What did he say?” I asked.

She looks at me a bit hesitant to answer. She pour her glass with liquor and drank it straight.

“He said that he never like me romantically. I was just a reliable employee in his eyes.” Her voice broke while talking.

I could see the hurt in her eyes. It only proves how much she loves Lieo. But sad to say, Lieo doesn’t see her the same way. I feel sorry for her.

“I asked him if he already likes someone if he was still in love with Mich-”

“That’s impossible. I already told you that Lieo and Mich are just friends. And Mich is already getting married.” I can’t help but cut her off.

She nodded and pour took another glass. She looks tipsy now. “Yes. You are right. It wasn’t Mich but someone else.”

My forehead creased. Who could that be? I’m sure that Lieo is not dating someone right now. He would introduce the girl to us if he had.

“It was Allison.” Anne finally revealed the girl.

“What?”

“I asked him if it’s not Mich, then is it Allison? He said yes. He liked Allison the first time she met her in Aunt Celine’s boutique. There was something in her that he can’t explain.” Anne added.

I was not able to answer her. I was stunned by the fact that my best friend likes my girlfriend. I know that Lieo is close with Allison. He was the reason why I had to confess to Alli about my feelings because I felt threatened when he arrived at Alli’s life.

After that night, Anne went back to her usual confident self.

“Are you doing to fire me, Andrew Lopez?!”

I was back from reality when I hear Anne’s anxious voice.

I shook my head. “I never said that. I asked you because I want to hear your side of the story.”

Anne looked at me with a bitter smile. “Will that change anything?” She asked almost in a whisper.

“The past will never change. But as a friend, I want to understand why you had to do that? You are a smart girl. You don’t need a man to be successful.” I said with full sincerity.

“It’s easy for you to say because all your life you were living in luxury. You never experience being poor and no one to support you.” She said with a bit of mockery.

I did not respond or react. I just waited for her to share more of her thoughts.

“When I first met Liam, I didn’t like him. But he was my hope at that time. He made me feel important and loved. I was happy with all the gifts and pampering that he gave me. I ended up falling for him. But his parents never approved of our relationship. They call me names and threatened me. I had no choice but to leave Liam.”

“I got angry with rich people for looking down on me. And to get my revenge, I became someone’s mistress. Unlike Liam, I never like that guy. I was disgusted whenever he touches me. I asked him for money, properties, and luxury items, he was so willing to give all of it to me. But I was never happy. Until our relationship got discovered by his wife. “Then I met Lieo. I really like him when I first saw him. I did everything to be closed to him to the point of faking my credentials. I never regret doing that. He might be angry at me but I was happy because I was given the chance to be close to him.” She said while wiping her tears.
