Chapter 50 Guilt

However, Stuart didn't give Darren a chance to question him.

"I heard the Quantum Group has newly launched a film and television investment company and invested five billion in Death in Ever-bright City directed by Enzo.Five billion!" he shouted.

"Are you confused about what to do with too much money? If you don't know how to spend it, give the money to me.I've been whining to you about being short of money, but you ignored it.I can't believe you've spent so much money on a woman.Money can only help her get opportunities.Only fate will decide her popularity.Don't you know that? Have you seen her acting? That woman can't act.Why are you doing this?"

Darren rubbed his temples and interrupted him.

"Look, I know what I'm doing. You stop overanalyzing everything. You know I have no feelings for her."

"Five billion, Darren! Are you sure you don't have feelings for her?"

Stuart bellowed again, "If you are into actresses, there are many more beautiful girls in the industry, who are way more smart and talented than her.I'll introduce you to them..."

Unable to take it anymore, Darren hung up the phone.

The waiter looked at him hesitantly before stepping forward. He carefully placed the two cups of coffee on the table, forced a smile at Darren, and quickly ran away.

A few seconds later, the phone rang again.

Darren answered it.Stuart cleared his throat and asked, "Are you really not doing this for Sierra?"

"No."

"Then who are you doing all this for?"

Darren didn't utter a word.

After a moment's thought, Stuart said, "Is it..." Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.

"No!"

"I didn't even say anything. Why are you denying without hearing what I've got to say? You don't have to admit it; I'm not forcing you. You're always in denial anyway.I don't know what to say to you."

Stuart sighed.

Darren opened his mouth to say something but decided against it.

"Forget it.I'm relieved to find that you haven't lost your mind over that woman. As for pursuing your ex- wife...Well, come on! I think you can do it!"

Darren's jaw tightened. He quickly hung up the phone. He seemed more upset than before. He wasn't chasing his ex-wife.He only wanted to compensate her.

Darren reminded himself that he had no feelings for Claire. He was doing all this because of guilt. He had no other motive.

All his uneasiness, agitation, and unhappiness were just because of guilt. He repeated the words in his mind almost as if he were convincing himself and breathed a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, when Claire returned to the film set, the shooting commenced.

Sierra was already in her costume and makeup. She looked over Claire's shoulder and breathed a sigh of relief. She was glad Darren wasn't with her.

Claire barely spent a couple of minutes with him.It looked like she didn't talk much with him.

"Oh, what's the hurry, Claire? You could have talked to Darren for a little longer."

Sierra smirked at her.

"Everyone has been waiting for you, but you shouldn't have worried about that and could have just taken your time."

Sierra was a cunning woman. She knew how to mock someone without making it seem offensive to the others.

Claire gritted her teeth. She looked at everyone and smiled apologetically.

"I'm sorry for making you all wait."

Sierra's face broke into a triumphant smile, but then Claire added, "I didn't expect Mr.Sampson would be idle enough to invite me for a cup of coffee.Miss Brooks, you should keep an eye on your boyfriend next time."

Claire smiled sweetly.

Sierra's face turned pale in an instant.

The crew members pretended not to hear their conversation.

Everyone seemed to carry on with their work while they secretly paid attention to their conversation.

"Are all the actors here? The director is urging us to start."

Just then, the assistant director clapped his hands to gain everyone's attention. He looked at Claire and said, "Isabel, you are the only one who hasn't changed into your costume."

"I'll go now and be back in a jiffy."

Claire strutted to the dressing room.

Sierra was upset that she couldn't vent her anger.

However, a complacent smile emerged on her face as she remembered something.

Claire arrived at the dressing room and found her costume in a pile.

She drew the curtain, took off her clothes, and changed into her costume.

However, she soon sensed something was wrong.

The buckle of the dress was loose -- it looked like it would fall off any moment.

Claire looked closer and found the dress wasn't faulty, but someone had tampered with it.

Once she made a big move, the buckle would fall off, and the dress would slide down and reveal her body.

Claire clutched the dress tightly and realized Sierra must have done it.

The shoot was about to begin. She didn't know what to do.
