released, its lethality was not to be underestimated
Outside the gates of Silverlake Harbor.
The evening wind rustled through the trees. Under the streetlight, Avery stood upright alone in the
deep, dew–heavy night air, waiting for the one he yearned for.
Time seemed to stretch on endlessly until the gates finally opened.
Evadne emerged, clad only in a thin, light blue dress. Evadne approached him with steps as firm as a
finely–honed sword, her dark eyes deep and striking.
“Evadne.” Avery’s eyes lit up with joy.
Concerned by her light attire, Avery quickly took off his suit jacket, intending to drape it over her
shoulders. “Evadne, why didn’t you wear more? It’s cold, what if you catch a chill?”
“Don’t touch me!” Evadne’s glare was icy, and she stepped back.
As if the man before her was a venomous scorpion, a snake ready to strike without warming, lethal in
its bite!
Avery’s arms stiffed awkwardly in mid–air, his complexion growing paler still.
“Avery, don’t push your luck,” Evadne spat, her eyes swirled with deep hatred, and her words as sharp
as icicles. “I’m here to see you just to witness how vile and despicable you could be. I came for the
spectacle. You think I don’t know it was you who orchestrated behind what happened to my brother and

Wishing for death but unable to obtain it.
Such cruel, merciless words, their lethality to Avery was no less than excruciating torture, cutting
deeper than any physical forment.
Hui delicate, dignified appearance, along with the soul that had long wandered in darkness, seemed as
if torn asunder by her striking gaze.
Yet the pain brought a strange sort of pleasure.
Evadne, all your love was for Thaddeus. But all your hate was reserved for me.
It meant that, in some twisted way, he held a place in her heart, a place that could not be replaced.
Avery’s eyes, burning red, softened unexpectedly, as he suddenly opened his arms wanting to embrace
her.
Evadne felt a chill surge through her, and panicked, tried to step back, but his cold hands had already
grasped her shoulders.
A chill of revulsion surged through Evadne!
Just as Evadne was ready to resist, a strong, decisive figure suddenly stood in front of her.
“Thaddeus!” Evadne’s heart swelled with relief, and the coldness that had gripped her vanished.
In the next instant, Thaddeus delivered a heavy punch to Avery’s left cheek!
The force of this punch seemed to have been gathering for a long, long time, and now it was all
released, its lethality was not to be underestimated
Avery felt a pain so acute, his vision darkened, his scalp about to burst!
Avery was no stranger to a fight, but Thaddeus‘ unexpected ferocity left him dazed, he staggered back
several steps and fell heavily on the cold earth!
“Touch my wife, Avery, and you’ll regret it,” Thaddeus growled as he glared at the man on the ground,
his handsome face as cold as stone, his starry eyes a murderous crimson.
He had intended to stay in the shadows, not intending to strike severely.
But seeing Avery’s filthy hands on his beloved, he could no longer hold back, unleashing the beast
within!
Thaddeus took off his suit jacket and wrapped Evadne tenderly, pulling her tightly into his embrace and
asked hoarsely. “Were you scared?”
Evadne smiled, shaking her head as she leaned into the warmth of his chest, her form softly clingy.
Their intimacy pierced Avery’s heart, far more lethal than the punch he’d just received.
“Mr. Chambers! Are you all right?”
Harvey, who had been waiting in the shadows, was terrified and rushed forward to assist his master.
“I’m fine,” Avery grunted, forcing down the taste of blood and fixing Thaddeus with a glare harsh and
fierce, like a hyena starved for days.
“If you want to settle this, we’ll do it one–on–one,” Thaddeus‘ eyes were cold and intimidating, his
presence like a boulder pressing on Avery’s chest. “I’ll give you a two–mové advantage.”
Hearing this, Evadne’s eyes widened in alarm, gripping his tensely muscled arm.
“He was such a fool, what sort of principles are you talking to this venomous snake? You should just
hold him down and beat the crap out of him!”
“Heh, no need for that.”
Avery replied, wiping the blood from his lips. He refused to stoop to brawling with Thaddeus in front of
Evadne, so he swallowed his anger along with his blood. “I didn’t check my luck, ended up bitten by a
dog. I guess that’s my bad luck.”
With a strained smile, he pulled out a crisp invitation from his suit and offered it to Evadne. “Evadne,
this weekend, the Chambers Group is hosting a cocktail party at our place. I came specially to bring
you this invitation.”
His eyes smiled warmly, tenderly as if nothing had happened just now.
Evadne lowered her gaze, her eyes frosty as they fixed upon the invitation in her hand.
Oddly enough, the fearless lady found herself harboring a shadow of apprehension towards the man
before her, who proclaimed his love for her at every turn.
Those without bottom lines are indeed terrifying.
But those devoid of dignity are equally fearsome.
Thaddeus snatched the invitation from Avery’s grip, his left arm encircling the slender waist of the petite
woman beside him, while his right hand presented the envelope to her.
With the aid of his hand, Evadne slid the invitation card out of the envelope and opened it in front of
Avery. After a cursory glance, she let out a cold snort and tossed the card at Avery’s feet.
“Mr. Chambers, kindly add my beloved’s name to the list and send a new invitation. If I’m in good
spirits, I might consider gracing your Inttle gathering with my presence.
Thaddeus, let’s go home.”
Thaddeus looked down, meeting her gentle eyes, “All right.”
Ignoring Avery’s ashen face, the couple nestled against each other and left, vanishing through the
grand gates of Silverlake Harbor
“Thaddeus‘ really too much! Does he think he can twist everyone around his finger?!”
Harvey spat out in disgust before looking at Avery’s swollen cheek with concern, “Mr. Chambers, I’ll
take you to the hospital right now!
‘No need
Avery’s eyes were dark and vengeful, stepping on the invitation he ground it underfoot, ‘Go back and
draft another one, send it to Ms. Evadne.”
“Yes.”
Harvey deeply felt injustice for his master, seething with resentment, “Mr. Chambers, you’ve suffered
such indignity, and you’re just going to put it aside? This isn’t like you!”
“A gentleman seeks revenge with patience. Besides, confronting Thaddeus directly would have upset
Evadne.”
Avery’s eyes narrowed slightly as he touched his aching cheek, “If this punch from Thaddeus can make
Evadne feel a bit of comfort, then this punch has its value.”
At that moment, his phone vibrated.
A message from Edith.
Sir, there’s a thorn in my side that requires your assistance, otherwise my plans will struggle.
.
Avery’s eyebrows arched, clearly pleased with the formality of the address.
-Who?
Edith sent a name.
-I’ll have someone take care of it, don’t worry.
-Thank you, Sir! Once the deed is done, I’ll repay you handsomely!
The chill in Avery’s dark eyes was enough to send shivers down anyone’s spine.
-As long as you take down Jareth, that would be the best repayment for me.
