Chapter 50
When I opened the door, I saw Asher lying on a hospital bed near the window. His eyes were shut and his arms were stretched over his chest as he hugged himself. He was in worse shape than Saige. His muscles had deteriorated, leaving him looking like a sack of skin filled with bones.
His hair was long and almost reached his shoulders. It was freshly combed though. I then closed the door behind me and his eyes shot into my direction. They seemed to light up and a grin followed, showcasing the missing canines that he once tried to sink into me.
"R...R...Red" He said, making me smile at the nickname he gave me when we were only kids. I then took slow light steps until I was standing next to his bed.Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
"Asher" I greeted him. "I........knew you w...would c...come b...back t...to me" he stuttered but never broke eye contact. I shook my head at his words. The light that was evident in his eyes earlier seemed to vanish.
"Asher, I didn't come back to you." He started searching the bed, panicking. When his hands touched a small box that laid next to him, he smiled again.
A tear fell from his left eye and he lifted his hand, waiting for me to take the small box. I looked at him and he just nodded his head. When I opened the box I saw a pearl rose hair clip.
I looked at him being confused at what the reason was for this clip.
"W...When we w..were ten you w..wore t..this clip to m..my birthday party..a..and I thought i..t was beautiful on..y..you...soo I had o..one m..made for you... it was going to be y..your ..b..birthday gift." I looked down at the clip and saw a tear drop onto it. I recalled the morning of my tenth birthday. I had wished for Asher to be my mate for the first time. That was the first of many. The first step that I took in the wrong direction.
"Yes you chose him as your mate when you were young", I heard my wolf say.
"What now," I asked her, feeling even guiltier for my actions.
"Now you have to wish him away" She said, making me swallow the lump that had gotten stuck in my throat. I nodded and took a deep breath.
I looked over to Asher again and I didn't feel anything for him. I only felt pity and regret.
"I Scarlet. Bloodmoon. I wish you Asher Stormclaw was never my mate". It didn't hurt one bit to say those words. I had no such feeling of love or desire towards him. But it felt relieving.
A strong wind spun around the room, making papers fly. And then it stopped. Asher looked at me very confused.
"W..What did you do?"
"I fixed the past." I could tell that he was no longer feeling this strong draw toward me that he had just seen me as an average she-wolf.
His eyes were telling me a lot but none of it meant I was important. I then turned around and exited the room. He hadn't stopped me and I didn't want to stop. 1
The chapter was closed. I could finally breathe and move on with my mate. When I opened the door, Lucian was fixing his suit. I giggled a little at his reaction and I knew he was listening in on the conversation.
I looked down at the box that I still held in my hand. As we walked out my eyes were glued to it. "I can get you a better one", Lucian whispered, making me smile.
I didn't want to keep the gift. But I couldn't give it back either. It would be best to throw it out, just like my past decisions when we entered the car and drove off out of the packs territory I opened the window and dropped it outside.
I looked back, watching the distance between us and the box increase as the seconds went past. Lucian squeezed my hand and I looked at him. (1
"Now we can move on". He pulled me into his chest, hugging me tightly.
"I thought you were going to leave me princess"
"I could never, Lucian. I love you too much" He hugged me tightly, letting me know that those words were the exact ones he needed to hear. "I love you too, princess.'
